clarkpegasus4001 Posted July 30, 2011 Share Posted July 30, 2011 Hi Everyone. Just to introduce myself to you all. My name is Tony Clark and I live in Nottingham. I am the bass player with In For The Kill the BUDGIE tribute band which I formed at the beginning of 2008. I only started playing bass in 2005 when I helped to create a Wishbone Ash tribute band, and prior to that I played mostly rhythm guitar just for fun. I play a 1975 Rickenbacker 4001 (that has a nice history concerning Martin Turner of Wishbone ash fame), which I bought from the USA in 2005 and it's my only bass. My current back-line is a Trace Elliot Series 6, 1 X 15 200w combo and matching 2 X 10 cab which will be sold shortly as i'm on the lookout for a more compact and lighter amp and cab due to the purchase of my new car (less space)! I also own a 1977 Takamine F390S acoustic and a 1992 Hamer Artist USA guitar. I'm also a member of 3 other forums, Bandolier (Budgie fan club), Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash (good friends of mine) and Progarchives. I only recently found out about this site and it's well cool. It got me out playing again, I hadn't been in a band for almost 25 years until that point,(2005). My current band is great to be in i'm very lucky. Weird.[/quote] Yeah a BASS lesson is strange given his 6 string talents. I've actually played with him when we played at Budgie fan club "get together" at the Intake Leisure in Mansfield. He is in a band called called Anubis and they kindly opened for us. It was actually their first gig, and Simon came on at the end and had a jam with us, (played the solo's and sang). I did watch him with Budgie once as well, he's nice bloke, and a great guitar player. Here is the track we jammed it was great fun! They were never a "big" band even at their peak, although all the Budgie gigs i've been to were very well attended. They must be one of the most underrated rock bands on the planet. To be fair, they are not a patch now on what they once were in the 70's IMO. If you gel Black Sabbath and Rush, with the Beatles you'll come up with Budgie! Then another, & another I used a Ricky as my main gigging bass for years, In fact I've just had it serviced. I mainly use Warwicks now. John actually became a drummer for my current band! but he left 2 or 3 weeks ago and i've not seen or spoke to him since the back end of June when we played a gig at Colwyn Bay FC. Chris came to watch us play a few months ago but i've not seen him since and to be honest we never saw much of each other even when I was in the WA tribute band. If I do see either of them i'll pass your wishes on. Just out of curiosity what are you doing now band-wise? and didn't you join MTWA forum? are you still on that? There is Wishbone Ash fronted by Andy Powell and there's Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash. I prefer the latter and they are friends of mine.
