The Green album- that sounds like the Sanborn album that Run For Cover was off- Voyeur? I'm all about the 80s Sanborn- Straight From The Heart, Change of Heart, Close Up. mcgraham Posted October 19, 2010 Share Posted October 19, 2010 I almost got to go see him and his band in Paris a few months back. We opted for Gregory Privat (w/ Hadrien Feraud) instead. Very energetic. I've never really listened to Sanborn. My Dad hates him. Supposely Sanborn did a soundtrack for a movie and my Dad said all he could hear throughout it was some 'bloody sax wailing crap over the dialogue'... hence the hatred. I got to see the gig in the mid 80's over at Wembley when his band [Miller, Gadd, Bullock to name a few] were supporting Al Jarreau and his band [Nate East, Ricky Lawson, Greg Phillinganes, Patches Stewart, to name a few] Some gig, and very serious talent on show. I do occasional gigs with a quintet led by a sax player that loves Sanborn, so 70% of the set is Sanborn tunes. Pleasant enough to play, but nothing to really get your teeth into.
