New Jamiroquai Track/Album (Nov '10)

Fairly uninspiring...I'm sure it'll grow on me.

I just think the music Jamiroquai put out has lost a lot since the earlier days, not very much Dynamism going on, not much flair, which was sort of their selling point.

Maybe it has something to do with playing along to sequenced parts live, or samples being triggered?

Either way, they set up shop, it loops a bit...and that's it.

'Feels Just Like It Should' was their last good tune in my own mind.

Still maintain one of the best gigs you could go to though.

+1

The "let's get a rise out of people for no reason" thread is located on the trolls-r-us forum pal.

Plus, who wouldn't love to have Paul Turner's job? (That's a rhetorical question by the way!)

Right, I think a few people need to read this thread - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=64748

I tend to agree with thisnameistaken here - as much as I love a good bass line, I prefer it to be part of a worthwhile bit of music, and I dont think Jamiroquai have really produced anything really exciting since Travelling Without Moving. Coincidentally, Zender's last effort!

To me the first rule of using a forum is to ensure you really do understand something before you post brassy replies to it.

This sums up everything I don't like about most 'funk'. Bland and uninspiring to my ears. Still, I don't think it helps that I find Jay Kay so annoying. (anyone else remember that video of him getting headbutted by a photographer? much mirth :))

I've no doubt that the thread will descend into two camps. The I used to like Jamiroquai back when.... and those who still like them.

I wasn't impressed by this new offering. I doubt they will chart very high, if at all, with it either. I prefer the very funky earlier stuff too. Maybe there isn't a market for the early stuff and they are playing it safe with this type of material for the masses. I'll probably listen to the album as a lot of their less commercial album numbers have been outstanding, even on the more recent albums.

Yeah I'll go with that too - there is so much crap in the charts that it drives you mad!

PT is a great bass player and yep I would take his job in a flash!! I think that most of us are just disappointed that after waiting for so long what we are hearing is not all that great. Having said that I did see them at Hyde Park this summer and they were fantastic.

Maybe the rest of the album will be better and thinking about it they have done a couple of ok tracks in recent years thinking of Little L and You Give Me Something.

I think we should all be happy that there is gonna be a song in the charts with a loud, prominent and most importantly REAL bass line!!!!

...Downer!
...Was Expecting a cover of Thomas Dolbys...Key to Your Ferrari........................Coat Collected!
Thomas Dolby.... blimey there's a name I haven't heard for a while. The Flat Earth was one of my favourite albums many years ago, Screen Kiss, what a great track.

Anyway.....back to Jamiroquai, I guess I'm just one of those people who just likes what JK does. I'm not a T Shirt, badge wearing Jamirouquai fanatic or anything, but, I just love the music. Maybe I'm having a mid life crisis.

Re..Mr Dolby...Think it was John Giblin on bass?(could be wrong?)
I have all the cds/singles seen them Twice once with Mr Zender!...just think this is a bit Same old Same old!(still far superior to anything in the chart though!)...I await the album in its CD format!
