1.
You were not meant to notice them!
Braces are back in now pal! Your ahead of your time!
 2.
I just saw post above...someone else listening to VH II as well
It's my favourite VH record. It just edges 1984 for me as it isn't as grown up, a bit more raw.(but 1984 is exceptional)
 3.
Neurotic pop, dub, art metal, stadium. Phew!
Thanks, I loved that band. We always tried to mix it up musically. I didn't play any instruments for 2 yrs after we broke up, i was that depressed. We were on the verge of doing something as well. We had Mr Manchester Tony Wilson, behind us, this demo was recorded with the guy who remastered someThe Who's back catalogue. We had started to support some proper acts. The classic Rock n roll f*** up. It was 5 yrs til i started playing bass again. Pathetic really but i was in my mid 20's and v immature.
 4.
I saw them them live at the V Festival a few years ago. Still one of the best live shows I've ever seen.
I saw em in Manchester and def one of the best shows i've seen. as a live bans they were incredible. Tight, dynamic, musical
 5. I spent a fair bit of time wasted listening to both in the early noughties. great music for it!
 6. Mind you The Beatles, Led Zep, Jaco, Jamerson etc ain't that current but it doesn't stop people talking about it!
 7.
I like them, obviously their output hasn't been that significant for the past 10 or 12 years due to their breaking up, but they had some great tracks. Bring It Back came on the radio the other day, reminded me that not all house music coming out at that time lacked intelligence and good songwriting.

I thought they were great, they kinda helped move House Music on a bit at that time. Roisin Murphy has quite a few solo tracks out there. Garry
I loved em. I really liked how they changed and progressed album to album, getting better each time. It's a pisser that they split. I realise it ain't current and they split up time ago, but it still souns fresh.
 8. Just listening to Moloko, haven't for a while, and i'm just wondering if there is any love for them on here. Never really seen anyone mention them. They developed from a good little electro duo to an incredible band and unsderated. Saw them live on the statues tour and it was amazing. Here's a couple of tracks
 9. Right now i'm listening to this beast whilst i clean the house! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-Q0z--vy4c
 10.
I'm hoping one day to have a '79 precision, but I dunno if it's gonna happen.
I'm 1979 too but i prob want a jazz. However, there are two 1979 P bass's on Ebay they are only £999 and £1275 respectively, you may as well get both http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1979-FENDER-PRECISION-BASS-GUITAR-BLACK-REFINISH-/390470991687?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item5ae9e27f47#ht_600wt_1111 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-USA-1979-/140854397492?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item20cb938a34#ht_726wt_1111
 11.
Here is a tune from THE band i was in. The one that tried to make it!. Formed when we were kids, supported proper bands etc. We were called Crank, Here's one of our tunes.

I don't have a facebook account and i can't play lord sausage's file for some reason. But he's my old jazzy-pop-funk outfit... 'Hot Like Fire' www.myspace.com/hotlikefireofficial I'm still proud of the basslines.

Same here. I can't play it.
Hi, I've Uploaded it onto a Soundcloud that i use, for want of a better word, for solo stuff. The track is called Broken Wing. Also the band was called Crank, not Dreaded Ted and The Nutters. Here is the link (hope it works) http://soundcloud.com/dreaded-ted/broken-wing
 12. I started playing both at 14 and though i spent more time learning bass and i am much better at it. I have play been a drummer in bands and also obviously a bass player.
 13.
I would never criticise someone for doing their own cover version. Indeed, a perfect note-for-note copy would seems a bit of a waste of effort really because you might just as well listen to the original. So, for my money, covers are all about a different interpretation of a song. Might be fairly similar, might be completely outlandish - anything goes really. But not criticising an interpretation doesn't mean I have to actually like or enjoy it.

To be honest, I don't care about how the lyrical content should be expressed, or whatever. For me it was really funky and the bass playing is great. I just enjoyed it as a piece of music.
Fair do's!
 14. Top man! Would definitely do business with again. Great communication! He had to wait a couple of days as my second child was born, was great about it. Paid instantly after sorting out the deal! Had a good chat too about basschat!
 15. Hi, Please could you listen to my bands new track, it's call Tortured Soul. Could you please give me some opinions on the Production and the Performance. I'm not 100% happy, though my band are. We recorded it at a slightly higher tempo than we play it at. So i think it makes the bassline a sound little rushed. There are a few production things too. Just let us know what you think please. 16. A while ago i decided to get rid of all my equipment and start getting new stuff. I was totally ignorant of the technical sides of amps and speakers etc. So i had a gander in this section and asked lots of questions. Thanks to the help of members like Mr.Foxen, Bill Fitzmaurice, icastle, chris b, xgsjx and a few others i now feel i know enough to buy in confidence (even if on a budget) and advise friends. so thanks. i remember seeing an argument involving Mr foxen, fitzmaurice and some others. It involved someone saying how you had to match your amp power rating to the speakers (watts) or it wouldn't work (not enough power) or it would blow the speakers, something which i had been led to believe in the past. These guys basically said it was bollocks and a tiny amp could power bigger more sensitive speakers and the more speakers you had the louder it would be, or something to that effect. So, i thought i'd try it out. I have a Marshall Lead 12, a tiny 12 watt marshall gtr amp head (@8 ohms). So at band practice i plugged it into my guitarist 8 ohm 4x12 guitar cab (not sure of its ratings). Considering it was a basic amp it sounded great.....and loud. Loud enough for the volume we practice at. If it had better eq and some reverb it would of sounded incredible.
 17. I thought it was terrible too. I'm glad others do. When i was listening to it i thought i hope i ain't the only person who don't like it. The main problem for me was how it just dismisses the overall ambience. The tune is mournful and this was happy. Didn't make sense. I'm aware of re interpretations etc but you should always keep the general mood of a piece. Also the melody didn't sit right. I a big believer in how a melody fits within in a tune. Its general flow. There was a cover on another thread of Look of Love and guess what didn't like that either...haha..but mainly as the melody didn't sit right in the new arrangement or convey the mood.
 18. Just sold my first two items on Basschat. This space is for the unfortunates who've had to deal with me! Cheers!
 19. Don't know who it is but it is sublime, beautiful. The whole guitar part... the song too! http://youtu.be/Yt2O4Y_sQ98
 20. Here is a tune from THE band i was in. The one that tried to make it!. Formed when we were kids, supported proper bands etc. We were called Crank, Here's one of our tunes.
 21.
The pursuit of the 'perfect' bass always makes me smile and wince at the same time. I see people spending hundreds and hundreds (if not thousands) of £'s trying to emulate a particular sound but would be far better off getting to know their instrument better. Give me Mark King's kit and 15 mins to set it up and I'd sound just like..... me. Give Mark King my kit and the same 15 mins and he'd sound just like ..... Mark King. At the risk of driving this topic into genital comparisons, it ain't what you've got, it's what you do with it that matters...
Right....lets all compare genitals! Does anyone like their genitals? Really?
 22. We used to have the greatest keyboard player in our band. He was class but he only played with one hand. He said his left hand was "for smoking and drinking!" Legend
