1. judging from some of, and the amount of, comments there ain't as much as a buzz as last months....................i wonder why!............You can bet there will be much less votes cast too!
 2.
^ Like it ^ 'Christ Kicker' and 'Secret Teeth' were my favourites on our "EP", Secret Teeth turned out to be a bit of an epic at the very end https://soundcloud.c.../scary-monsters
Like the schizophrenic nature of it. kind of like System of a Down meets The Sex Pistols
 3. Don't know if this is the correct section to put this but here goes. I was listening to some old stuff of mine and came across a tune that i love, really proud that i wrote it. I'm not going to say if it's my best or not, that's for others to decide, but it's definitely my favourite. I wrote it when i was about 18-19, which is pretty sad that i've not written anything i like more in 15 yrs. So what i'm suggesting is have a listen, say what you think and then post one of your own and carry it on etc. Cheers https://soundcloud.com/dreaded-ted/nowhere-man
 4. [sub]Ya know what? I see a lot of these threads on here and the usual reply is aren't guitarists and drummers w***ers. Quit, i wouldn't take that sh*t etc. But for me part of being in a band is the challenge. Starting off rough and working together to be the best ya can be. It may sound idealistic but it's true. Obviously this doesn't include if it's a professional thing. When i'm in the early stages of a band and after gigs people go oh that was great, i always say it was just ok, until the band gets ultimately slick and in my opinion as good as some as the biggest bands it will always be ok. But like i said part of the fun is ironing things out. Sorting these problems instead of running away from them![/sub]
 5. Gotta be purple dunlops 1.14, never had any problem gripping any plec mind!
 6.
It also means I have the bass drum right behind me which helps me lock in with that nicely.
I insist the drummer locks in with me!
 7. Got to admit i like this http://youtu.be/u_Jh3-J-Sdw
 8. i quite like this one! http://youtu.be/T-NZGCpeb2A
 9. So here it is, my entry for this months competition. There is a description of the idea and process on the soundcloud page. It has some structure and some elements of aleatoric composition. No harmony and counterpoint this month, tho there are some vocals. It will be interesting to see what you think! https://soundcloud.com/dreaded-ted/degeneration-of-the-penis
 10.
I dunno, I am very competitive, but won't compromise in order to win. I really liked your previous one. But having thought about this a bit, I reckon most people can only relate to the obvious and the winner will have probably a more literal interpretation, probably with a vocal. 'A fat old boy on Christmas eve Can't drink as much As he'd have you believe Had too much and hit the gravel Going down faster Than Jimmy Savile etc etc etc ... '
Well that wins my vote. Just get facebook on your side and its yours. ha ha. Usually i'm ridiculously competitive, sport, games etc but when it comes to music i'm just not. Perhaps it really is arrogance.
 11.
I saw a few posts about not getting any inspiration from the pictures for these competitions. I think the pictures should fire your imagination, your music comes from YOU, not the picture itself. Of course if you want to win the competition based on an assumption that there will be basic common interpretations that voters will identify with, and be impressed by your very literal compositional and stylistic interpetation (Fat / Drunk / Asleep / Humiliated / Christmas .. etc) you are probably going to have a very hard time with that, and you are playing to the picture and the voters. What I think is the most useful technique is to create a story behind the picture to fuel your own compositional imagination. The problem lies in that I believe most of the entrants would naturally like to win, and so they may be predisposed to thinking of what criteria the voters are skewed towards, this is highly limiting creatively, and not the purpose of the picture. Or at least not to my mind.
Good point, but quite the opposite as far as i'm concerned. I couldn't care less about winining. Fortunately i'm arrogant enough not to need validation by others. ha ha You will see in how far removed from classic conventions my piece is. As i've said before, i'll be surprised if i get one vote.
 12. pretty much done. just a tweak here and there. Will post at weekend.
 13.
Lord Sausage, last time I checked Jaco was dead... Vocals - Rob Halford Rhythm guitar - James Hetfield Lead guitar - Tipton and/or Downing Bass - Me if I could be channelling Geezer Butler... Drums - either Alex Van Halen or Dave Lombardo Keyboards - What's a keyboard...?
and freddie mercury! kinda skipped that bit, but that wasn't my band that was my mates. Yours would be class but if you were channeling geezer you would have to have AVH as drummer for the groove. Amended for living musicians mine would be Drums- Terry Bozzio Bass- John Paul Jones Gtrs- Jimmy Page, Richie Blackmore Vocals-David Lee Roth
 14.
And there are a good few that have had many fewer listens than there are votes, which is also a bloody shame. Never mind.
Just noticed there was a section which lists members and when they joined. Looked like a lot joined towards the end of november and haven't made any posts since, so it was probably what a few of you were saying about a lot of people seeing the facebook link and voting.
 15. Funnily enough my mates and I were talking about this in the pub the other night and my best mate and ex keyboard player came up with a great one. I've done one on here before so i'll tell you his Vocals- Freddie Mercury Guitars- Slash and Keith Richards Keyboards-Stevie Wonder Bass- Jaco Pastorius Drums-ian Paice
 16. Well on the way with mine. This time there is less composition and some vocals. So maybe i will get more votes this time ........i doubt it, i will be surprised if i get one. I don't care how many i get anyway. It's good just to be writing!
 17.
Heck. I thought to would be a simple answer. I didn't expect to provide variables mr foxen! Normal pub gig stage?

I've read that cabs can be pretty much anywhere in the room ( for smallish rooms anyway) as the waves Aren't particularly directional? Or is that more Internet nonsense?!!
if you didn't expect to give variables and get a simple answer......well it's probably gonna get interesting round here!
 18. Right! Know what I'm doing. Last time i spent a bit of time on harmony, counterpoint and arrangement...to no avail. So this time i'm not! Infact the complete opposite.....beware!
 19.
You all realise, of course, that, as a moderator, I decided early on that it was inappropriate for me to win so whenever anyone voted for me, I deleted the vote. I left a few in there because I didn't want to draw attention to my ploy. I actually got 207 votes but am sworn to secrecy..... I shall never tell.
I actually thought yours was the best compositionally.
 20. There's a band round our way called One foot in The Groove, apart from the singer they are all in their 60's!
 21.
Why not? Each note could represent one of the children he abused, could be a nice tribute.
Then every time you played a note you would be touching a child. So maybe not a good idea!
 22. This http://youtu.be/c6RnMCl5WZU They all give it some on this tho!
 23.
when Jimmy played like a god...
Word!
 24.
What is it? The O2 gig?
The stuff that they recorded whenever they appeared on the BBC in the late 60's and 70's
 25.
ah dazed and confused, live, unbelievable!!!
It's what i love about zep. The unabashed power and bravery of improvisation.
