[/quote] Why can't 'technicians' be 'musicians', it's a bullshit statement really. Does that mean all jazz players aren't musicians and it's not good 'music'. I can appreciate some players are just technique and nothing else but to separate them and say anyone with technique isn't a musician is just wrong. The two can co exist!

[/quote] I can agree with that, but to dismiss players because they have technique is quite ignorant. Vai may have technique but his music is incredible not just for shredding. Great composition, melody, harmony and development. When i was younger in my teens, I was all about technique and difficult music but as i grew up i pretty much got into everything and enjoyed stuff on it's own merit. What i've found, in most cases, is snobbery from both ends. People with great technique and musicianship are snotty to music that's not. Conversely, those who don't go down that avenue are snotty to technical music as if it as no merit, when of course it does.

I've got a CIJ 62 reissue Fretless Jazz. It's beautiful and plays and sounds beautiful. I took it to a shop for a set up. When i returned to pick it up the bass tutor at the shop was playing it, which pissed me off to be honest. He told me that he had a MIA version, whether he meant the same model or just an MIA jazz i don't know, but he said that mine was much better than his and in his opinion CIJ's were better than MIA. Having never played an MIA i couldn't vouch for it but i was glas mine was better. Especially how he was playing it.....twat!

Nice one. Thanks for that. It's kind of for the same reasons as one of the early posts in that thread. I have a fretless, but i love it to much and only use it on special occascions (nerd). I want one for everyday use. This looks like it will fit the bill!

Yeah there is some good stuff, I can't see any prices tho! I've emailed them for prices. I'm probably being a gobsh*te tho and they are on there. They are made in Slovakia. I went on holiday to Slovakia once in January. Stayed with a Slovak friend. It was -20C. Had a great time, beautiful country and the people were so friendly. Cheap as chips too. You could get pissed up on a fiver!

My aims for thid year are to learn a couple of Jaco number's, hopefully Opus Pocus if i can find the dots.
