4. They were over rated anyway. You hear they were unhappy with Nevermind being re mixed before release saying it wasn't punk. Then they say how they are pop and then moan when they get an albini punk record. miserable twats!
5. With regards to the sound the guitarist and i think that the distorted guitars lack definition and the solo and backing vocals aren't loud enough. Where as the singer and the guy who co-produced and fully mixed it argue it's a wall of sound thing! So split.
6.
Absolutely , very interesting , must have been a real PITA hanging on for so long to get a sound like that going again
yeah it was. We'd just gotten in our stride then had to stop. warming up again now!
7. Really, how interesting!
8. He did the Plant and Page album Walking into Clarksdale which is exceptional and sounds nothing like In Utero, so he ain't talkin bullshit in his letter.
9. How about if the mods listen to and leave comments on things other than in the composition competition. Maybe this will encourage people to leave constructive criticism on tunes. perhaps people don't want to be the first to say anything negative....apart fron Nige ha ha. It's not like loads of things get posted.
10. Just clicked that link after the post!
11. Paint arrived today. I will have to buy a respirator. Won't be able to do that until saturday, so hopefully i will start this weekend!
12. Love Kimbra, in many ways, Love this bassline, tune and groove http://youtu.be/gOHxvRDjGVo
13. It's all in the eq and not overdoing volume! Cut rather than add!
14.
Steves lacquers are great as they drybto a hard shine, unlike some other manufacturers profucts. Ive got a load of cans from Steve for my own next project.
Yeah, it was from one of your threads that i became aware of him.
15. Ordered the paint today off Steve Robinson @ Manchester Guitar Tech. Had a good chat and gave me some great advice. He didn't try to oversell me stuff i needed i.e. I thought i would need two cans off lacquer, he said i would be fine with one. getting excited as the fun starts here.
16. After a year's hiatus (that's how long it has taken to find a good drummer) my band has stared rehearsing again. So i've had to go back through the tunes relearning and rediscovering. This is one of the last ones we recorded. What do you think? https://soundcloud.com/asedya/1-out-of-10
17. Off on tour in November with RENT so started to re learn some of the tunes before i get the pad. Today I've been doing this one as it's probably the most involved. http://youtu.be/GkHr8sHMGmo
18. I have an ESP LTD fretless 5 string. It sounds and plays bad ass. It's all ESP gear just assembled in Indonesia.
19. It also says " Sorry, this vacancy is no longer active"
20. I set up a bass for the first time the other week and it seems ok. I could have a look. I'm in Atherton though. Or i rehearse in Leigh, i could give you 5 -10 mins if you came down to where we rehearse.
21. I've been watching the following videos by steve robinson. Would the way he sprays this laquer in the video be an acceptable way of spraying the primer and clear coat too. I'm undecided whether to buy my paint of this guy and have a chat as he doesn't live too far away, or buying the full kit from Rothko and Frost, cos you get polish too and you can get decals. http://youtu.be/AyZRP8Xm7uI
22.
I can see where you're coming from, but if we're going to play gigs for the love of it, we have to ask ourselves "will we love this gig?" rather than ranking all gig offers equally. There are some gigs which break even or make a small loss which can still be worth doing for a whole host of reasons. I had a good chat about this with the band today, and fortunately we seem to getting to a bit more of a consensus on what we're looking for in a gig.
I just play with the guys in the band. the only way it's not a good gig is if we play bad. i never really take into account anything about the gig other than if we played as well as we can and was it an improvement on last time.
23. Miserable buggers. I've always just played for the love of it. Never thought about cost. I've wasted money on worse things than gigs
24. Also, I've been looking on different sites for paints. What's the difference between Cellulose and nitro cellulose?
