Ordered the paint today off Steve Robinson @ Manchester Guitar Tech. Had a good chat and gave me some great advice. He didn't try to oversell me stuff i needed i.e. I thought i would need two cans off lacquer, he said i would be fine with one. getting excited as the fun starts here.

After a year's hiatus (that's how long it has taken to find a good drummer) my band has stared rehearsing again. So i've had to go back through the tunes relearning and rediscovering. I have an ESP LTD fretless 5 string. It sounds and plays bad ass. It's all ESP gear just assembled in Indonesia.

I set up a bass for the first time the other week and it seems ok. I could have a look. I'm in Atherton though. Or i rehearse in Leigh, i could give you 5 -10 mins if you came down to where we rehearse.

I've been watching the following videos by steve robinson. Would the way he sprays this laquer in the video be an acceptable way of spraying the primer and clear coat too. I'm undecided whether to buy my paint of this guy and have a chat as he doesn't live too far away, or buying the full kit from Rothko and Frost, cos you get polish too and you can get decals. http://youtu.be/AyZRP8Xm7uI

[/quote] I just play with the guys in the band. the only way it's not a good gig is if we play bad. i never really take into account anything about the gig other than if we played as well as we can and was it an improvement on last time.

Miserable buggers. I've always just played for the love of it. Never thought about cost. I've wasted money on worse things than gigs

Also, I've been looking on different sites for paints. What's the difference between Cellulose and nitro cellulose?

Here it is almost naked but with the new bridge attached. Just took the bridge off and i'm now going to do the final bit of sanding to get it ready to be painted. However, I am now undecided and confused about what to do. Originally i was gonna just do a nitro finish. Then i started flirting with swirl painting it. Then today i read some stuff about how nitro is toxic and fades and i read another thread on here where the guy used a different kind of spray so i am unsure what to do. I'm flirting with the idea of swirl painting a guitar, Borax method. Anyone ever done this? i think i get the general gist of it. Anyone know if you can use nitro paints underneath, or does it have to be plasti-kote paint?

Ok, The bridge i bought [url="http://www.thomann.de/gb/schaller_3d5_b.htm"]http://www.thomann.d...aller_3d5_b.htm[/url] has like another plate underneath that sticks to it. Obviously it makes the bridge a bit higher. What's the point? Should i use it? Would picture help with this description?

I just tried the different amp models on the zoom i.e, GK, Aguilar, Hartke, Sansamp etc. Left the eq flat on amp bit had the gain on about 75%.

Tonight, for the first time, i will be using Harley benton 500w head thru a GK mbe 212 and a zoom b9 1ut. Will let you know how it goes!
