1.
ooh now this is pretty. I had a ornginal 61 Jazzmaster a few years ago which looked just like this (refin headstock) Is the finish nitro ?
It's just a regular gloss finish I think mate.
 2.
Dude, you need to put a trade price on this honey of a Jazz. What's the colour? Cream? Shell Pink? Hard to tell from the pics. What's the action on the E at the 12th? Fret wear? I had one of these in CAR, a really lovely bass.
I've amended the ad, but I wasn't aware we had to now include the height of the action.
 3. Hey guys, This purely a feeler to see if I can possibly find the right bass. The Warwick/Spector bug is biting again so preferably I would like to trade for either one of those, but I'm more than happy to hold on to this bass if I don't get any offers. I got this recently from Gazwills and it really is a great jazz. It is a limited run in which the Badass 2 came fitted as standard and along with US pickups and the finish and matching headstock. The bass was bought from Far East Guitars in early 2011. Pics: The colour is probably best described as aged cream white. Condition wise it's in great condition, there is a very minor ding on the headstock which can be seen above. There is no discernible fretware at all. I've recently had the bass checked over and the neck shimmed by Waghorn Guitars in Bristol. It plays amazingly well and it sounds as good as it looks. The action is nice and low with plenty of room to go either way. Price: SOLD. Trade Bait: The trade value on this is about £600-£650. As said at the top, I'm specifically interested in Warwicks and Spectors, even more specifically: Spector Euro 4/5 String Warwick Thumb BO 4/5 String Warwick Streamer Stage 1, Pro M, LX 4/5 String I can add some money for the right deal too. Thanks, Josh.
 4.
Metallica's James and Lars are very family focussed but the St Anger and Death magnetic albums are the angriest material they've recorded since 1988, maybe these albums aren't heavy by today's standards but compared to their 90's alternative output they seem to be heading in the right direction. Dave Mustaine has always been a christian, their 1986 album peace sells has the line "What do you mean I don't believe in god, I talk to him everyday".
When you compare those 2 to the anger and other emotions that went into the first 4 albums, they do come up rather short. Surprisingly, even on Black Album through to Reload they were still producing some angry stuff, sure the music didn't reflect but the lyrical content sure did. St Anger has quite a bit of anger in it but again it's almost tame in comparison. Death Magnetic was more tamer again. They aren't angry, pissed off, scraggly oiks with long hair anymore. They've proven their point and the world listened and they are now very wealthy because of it. They're grateful to be alive and to be still playing to the crowds they do, and they are a family orientated band now, so they have to set an example. Dave was born into the religion as most are in America. But through the early Megadeth/Metallica years he was anything but religious, even having flirtations with the occult at one point. It wasn't until the late 90's or early 00's that he was born again and took his religion seriously, so seriously that he won't play the songs that are tied to his occult dealings, I.E. The Conjuring, Bad Omen, Good Mourning/Black Friday etc...And it's partly the reason why they don't hardly play anything of Killing is my Business either. He refuses to play Anarchy in the USA as well because of his faith. If anything, what anger Dave has left it seems to be channeled on politics.
 5.
I really like metllica but they tour so much, do a festival nearly every year, and their performances i think have become a bit boring and predictable - almost too polished.
Boring and predictable for sure, but I certainly wouldn't say polished. It's no secret Lars is getting worse with every year and Kirk is just fumbling through his solos on a nightly basis. I love Metallica, they are easily my favourite band, but I actually struggle to watch them live nowadays. Whereas I would say that Megadeth are certainly much more polished as a live act, Dave's voice is hit and miss but I actually enjoy watching them over Metallica's recent shows. I know during the mid to late 90's Metallica were criticised then for not being the same band from Seattle 1989, but I would've much rather to see them then as opposed to now.
 6.
I never thought Thrash Metal was meant to be serious... Testament, I prefer them to Slayer and Megadeth. So my Big 4 would be Anthrax ST Metallica (I can't believe Trujillo has been with them for 10 years already) Testament It's a good job we don't all like the same stuff, the same way, or music (and life) would be dull...
Horses for main courses and that lark And indeed it's been 10 years...and it's still not right! But I think it's fair to say Testament are often overlooked, Exodus too.
 7.
They never took themselves too seriously either... Which is why I liked them more than the other 3... How Suicidal Tendencies didn't make it as big as the big 4 I'll never know.
Fair enough mate, I've just always felt that thrash metal isn't supposed to be comedic, well not the music at least. What bugs me about them more is that they aren't from the Bay Area. That fourth place should've gone to either Testament or Exodus.
 8.
I think the big 4 are weakening simply through age. you cant be expected to be angry when you are trying to write music by your own pool. It's the end of the big boys in my opinion, because music is now released in massive volumes the fanship is no long channeled to smaller band choice (Like the old days) I think now bands will have smaller more loyal followers rather than lots of people following larger bands. It's a new era in metal
Metallica can't be angry anymore as they're now a family friendly metal band. Megadeth aren't angry anymore because Dave and Junior are born again Christians. Anthrax have always been too comedic to ever be taken seriously IMHO. Slayer are just going through the motions.
 9. Thankfully this is spared the growling nonsense:
 10.
cheers Josh - how you getting on with the Jazz?
It needed a little shim to get the action low enough but I'm really enjoying it
 11. Just a bump to say that Gaz is a great guy to deal with and I've seen this bass in the flesh when I collected my jazz from him and it is in amazing condition.
 12. Many might dislike him and the music Level 42 made, but I doubt they can deny the impact he made on the amount of people picking up bass throughout the 80's and and changing the public perception of the instrument at that point. A big influence on me many years ago when I got into slap properly, but all I see nowadays is far too many of his clones, which unfortunately grows tiring as they seem to lack any real originality other than writing lines that sound like Love Games, Mr Pink, or The Chinese Way. I will say that some of his more fingerstyle based lines are often overlooked.
 13. I sold my jazz to John yesterday and the whole thing went by nice and easily and it was a pleasure to finally meet him

The seller in this case uses the BC name mojobass. If anyone here knows him, please get in touch. thanks Mike
He messaged me on January 24th as he was interested in some MEC's I had for sale, but I sold them to someone else in the end.

 17.
Over the last few years, quite a few nice basses have been through my hands. Alembic, Vigier, Fbass, Spector, Custom shop Fender and Status. Couple of weeks ago I bought an £80 OLP MM3 5string from BC member Josh (great guy to deal with) with partly working electrics. I had planned to make this a fretless project however, after 10 minutes with a soldering iron, I fixed the problem (wire off the front vol control) and now, I seem to have found the tone and playability I'd wasted about £10,000 on trying to find. Haven't picked up anything else since and the expensive stuff have been relegated to wall hangers. Not going to defret it now. There's a lesson here somewhere.
The joy of two volume controls on a Stingray hey? Glad you're happy with it though mate And as I said to Keith when he picked up the bass, my £200 Squier CV is one of the best purchases I've made on any incarnation of this site.

 22. I posted this in the other thread a little while ago, but seeing as our new songs are almost mixed and mastered, I thought there's no harm in posting this again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5W065kcGNM
