Evening all, I bought this about 2/3 months ago and haven't used it as much as I intended, but now I need to make room for few more pedals so it's only fair someone else makes better use out of this great pedal. It's in good condition, it has a few scuff marks around the outside of the pedal which are clear in the pictures. It works perfectly fine and there are no issues with the pedal whatsoever. [/quote] It wouldn't be so bad if they actually made a conscious effort to be helpful as opposed to stringing you along for another few months whilst they still have your money. I haven't ever been a fan of shopping in my nearest PMT branch (Bristol) as a majority of the staff are just useless and will flog you anything, also the bass selection is always the same which is very underwhelming. Shopping online turned out to be worse, I wouldn't even want to buy a set of strings from them. Even now I have this £50 credit note from them to spend, I'm somewhat anxious to see how that will turn out.

After a good 5 months of back and forth between myself, PMT, Dolphin Music, Fender, and Lakland, I've finally taken delivery of my new JO 5. This all started back in april when I bought a brand new american Fender jazz from PMT online, it turned out to be a dud and was also a bit broken, so after requesting a refund and returning the bass (which took about 2 weeks in itself!) I was then offered the same bass now fixed again to which I declined as I had stated I would like a refund. I was then contacted by PMT to see if there were any basses I would be interested in which I said there weren't (Fenders, Ibbys, Squiers, and Sandbergs make up about 70% of what PMT stock) to which they replied that they could get in other basses that they don't stock. So I get contacted again a day later saying that they can order me in a JO5 and that it would be on the same finance as the Fender so I wouldn't need to spend any extra money, I would just have to wait until the beginning of august to receive it. To cut the rest of the story short, it turns out the bass didn't leave Chicago until August 8th despite being told it was already in the UK. After a lot of phone calls from me and the lack of correspondence from PMT, I finally managed to get them to pull their finger out and they actually did something right. Despite finally receiving a rather apologetic email with a £50 credit note from PMT, this has probably been my worst purchasing experience from an online store. I never want to buy from PMT online again unless it is something I truly needed/wanted and it was going for a good price. The good news is though that the JO is amazing straight out of the box, this is my third JO and my sixth Lakland now, I can happily say they make far superior jazz basses than Fender IME and would highly recommend them to anyone

Evening all, This was bass was bought from a local player who was pleasant enough to let me try it out through my rig as usually I don't have that luxury being in Somerset. I had recently bought an American Fender jazz which turned out to be a dud, both in construction and tone, so I was quite surprised to find that this bass sounded better even with old strings and a naff set up, I bought it on the spot. After sorting out the set up and putting some fresh strings on it sounded even better and it was a fraction of the price of the US jazz. However, with a brand new Lakland 55-60 incoming and my other jazz still being my go-to bass, I would just like to either get some money back in my account or trade for something different. I have replaced the original BBOT bridge with a much more solid Gotoh 201 which has really helped increase the sustain and helped with the adjustability of the bass. The overall condition is pretty good, there are a couple of dents which are evident in the pictures but they aren't anything substantial. I've currently shimmed the neck to get the action low enough for my taste but it can still go lower if required. In the right hands a Stingray can sound fantastic, both warm and defined, but for me a lot of SR players tend to over do it with the treble and mids (amp and pre in some cases) and then it becomes a scooped and harsh tone. Some pick players I know use 'rays and unfortunately have no idea what EQ is and as such have a really nasty tone that is instantly recognisable as a 'ray. Again, with the right know-how and technique they can sound great for anything. -

After owning a couple (4 & 5) and playing a few others I quickly realised they are not the bass for me. There was only ever one out of those few that I played that I did enjoy but I was unable to actually own it as it was practically impossible to pry it away from my ex-girlfriend who never touched it, although it got a lot of playing time when I was there. For me they are an iconic bass with a unique tone, they were potentially the first coolest/most modern looking bass for the time and still look great today. However, they always sound better played by someone else in my experience and that's how I enjoy them. A Lakland 44/55-02 is the perfect bass if I ever want the Stingray tone as well having more tonal options to choose from. -

Remember, I had been assured the bass had recently been set up at The Gallery...I doubt anyone could've played it comfortably in the state it was when I recieved it.

That's an absolute bargain!! I paid about £700 for the same bass but unfortunately due to a dishonest seller, I found out it had a warped neck which rendered it practically unplayable. I had it fixed but because of the extent of the warp in the neck, it would never return to it's original working condition. It was such a disappointment as it sounded incredible but I was unable to set it up to my preference so I had to sell it on at a big loss. I've had two 4 string versions and again both absolutely fantastic basses, but ultimately I would've loved the 5 string version to have been in much better condition than it was. That is the danger of buying blind sometimes, as Pinball says above, definitely try it out first.

Having been a fair few times over the last couple of years I can safely say L.A. is very overrated and quite a nasty place when you really look at it. It's cool to do the sunset strip once to have a look in all of the guitar shops but thats about it. There's one major downtown strip with the Hard Rock Cafe and where they film the Letterman show and that's about it. Be careful where you do wander off though, it really is a dangerous place. One place I highly recommend if you enjoy astronomy is the Griffith Observatory which is on the hills around L.A. It's absolutely stunning at night. San Diego is nicer but a bit scarce of things to do other than it's main strip of shops and restaurants. San Diego Zoo is pretty awesome though if you fancy it. If you can I'd say go to San Francisco, now that place is somewhere very worth going

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought it from PMT online last tuesday, it was the last one in stock from the store in Norwich. My nearest store is Bristol which isn't a problem as I'm in Bristol for Uni most days. To be honest I'm disappointed in the jazz, it looks fantastic and the neck is amazing, whereas the sound leaves a lot to be desired. My Squier CV with Wizard 64's sounds far better to my ears. Hopefully I can get a refund as I bought it on the Pay 4 Less scheme which has a 2 week grace period. I knew I should've bought a Lakland JO from GuitarGuitar instead.

Hey guys, Just a quick question, I've recently recieved a brand new 2013 USA Fender Standard jazz and upon changing the strings 3 of the 4 through-body stringing ferrules dropped off. Surely this can't be right on a brand new bass? Thanks guys, Josh.
