Yes, sound is everything to me. Getting a performance right isn't just about hitting the right notes at the right time. Your tone must be right, you must get the sound to the audience in the best possible manner.

I still want to know why Rob doesn't like "Waltz for Dawn".

I'm the stock at the Gallery used to be better than it is now. I also remember when they had a Wal up for £1250! And I thought "thats a bit pricey"!

I love Uzeb but I never found Caron's solo stuff very interesting. It wasn't a lack of technical wizardry, more a lack of interesting melodies and atmosphere. This Uzeb song is fantastic although the bass solo goes on a little bit. Just listen to the bass playing before the solo, it is quite incredible fretless work.

There is always a ready market for Kingbasses. It seems Status can't make them fast enough these days! If you buy it and want to sell it you'll never struggle to find a buyer, especially at Statii.com.

Usually 40-100 or 45-100. I've used 30-90's before in the past for that super bendy, super light feel but I'm quite happy with a slightly heavier guage these days.

Balance well as long as you wear it in the correct position (high up the body). Instant coolness. It's a Status too, so you're joining a friendly club of owners and the customer service from Status is as good as it gets. It'll be a million miles away from your Wal in a way. A difference that could be described as 'night and day'. My ACG and Status Series II are like this. My ACG is a lovely boutique 'coffee table' bass with a complex filter based EQ and two big humbuckers, my Status is a sleek, boutique slice of 80's cool which still feels very much ahead of the competition even now! I love the Kingbass, I was looking to buy one before I stumbled across my Series II, which I prefer to the Kingbass by some small degree.

It even has his signature on it...albeit just a reproduction! That is, of course, because I have a very nice Ashdown MK500 combo. The only amp that could make me go back to Ashdown, it's superb! But Mark never used the ABM stuff, I suspect this will just have been signed as part of his duties endorsing Ashdown. It's cool that he signed it, but it won't add any real value when you look at the used gear market now. When so many awesome items are sitting without a buyer, I doubt many will pay extra for Mark's signature.
