2.
I actually bought the push album based on your recommendation - really like it. I am sure you will enjoy Surreal when it arrives - I think it's one of their best. I'll have to check out New jersey Kings as I have a lot of JTQ stuff. Been meaning to buy the Corduroy album for a while too
Regarding the corduroy cd the one to get is the two best ones as a double, dead man cat and out of here. love that raw brit funk sound they had. you can order it from amazon used for £1.14 from ZOVERSTOCKS, i have had 100s of used cds from zoverstocks and never had to send one back ! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dad-Man-Cat-Out-Here/dp/B00000IHCS/ref=sr_1_14?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1334751462&sr=1-14
3.
Thanks FunkGod - just had a taster listen on itunes and I will buy it when I get back on wifi. Sounds like a big Francis Rocca Prestia influence on those bass lines?
Hello Bam, funny you should say that, When i did the short review on amazon for "band on a mission" i did point that out. http://www.amazon.co...34747363&sr=1-3 Im still waiting for my Surreal cd to arrive !!! cant wait, i think i have nearly all the other incognito cds so am now just biting at the bitt. When i was playing in an Acid jazz band in the 80s and 90s we nicked so much stuff from bluey/ incognito (as well as JTQ , new jersey kings, corduroy ETC) it was just too good not to use, infectious.
4. Ernie Mckone's own band "Push" are a geat band as well. http://www.pushband.com/ just order the cd from the site youll love it

7. UPDATED... HK 6 string fretless, These were designed by Hermann Kempf (HK) then he had them made in Korea to keep the price down Im sure we have all seen these on ebay from time to time, at one time about 2/3 years ago there was loads of them, 6 and 7 strings. not so many now tho, unless you like wacky shapes, And for the cash about 350ish then i was tempted myself, but the sceptical side of me made me opt my cash for something else, Then a few weeks ago i spotted this one used on ebay, not far from me and so curiosity got the better of me, the bid was put on and i won it for the stupid price of £200ish delivered with a very good quality gig bag, ! Winning at £200 my first thoughts were that everybody knew something i didnt, The bass came boxed up and Very well packed, a credit to the seller. After a min or two it was apparent that it needed setting up, to how i like it, once set up what can i say ?????? Undoubtedly the best £200 i have ever spent on anything, I love it I have just sold my wal 6 fretless, and still have over 20 very good quality basses so have some good comparisons to compare it too. so this is a bit of a revelation for less than £200. The bass, is all solid quality wood, the facings would not look out of place on an Alembic, the facing is not just photographed or even a thin veneer, it is gorgeous looking and almost 1cm thick piece of solid wood,( this bit has been ammended) book matched poplar burl wood, ( in german it is called Maserpappel) , there is a finishing veneer under that, the core is a 2 piece bookmatched ash body, even the ash body is not cheap wide grain fast grown hybrid ash, oh no, it looks good quality tight grained older ash. the neck is a 5 piece, maple and what looks like walnut or rose wood, the two outer are again tight grained maple the middle one is a slightly wider grain but almost perfect with the grain lines running almost straight from heel to the end of the head ! the head stock is finished with the same wood as the body with again the same finishing vineer under it. Fingerboard is rosewood When setting it up i just wanted to release the neck slightly so opend the truss rod cover and was surprised to find twin alan key truss rods !! OMG.it just gets better. Pickups are Kent Armstrong 7 string versions so string coverage is well covered bridges are the through body or rear design, keys i think are wilkinson with a "W" logo on the rear. Controls are, Switch 1 Battery on off Switch 2 passive or active In active you get Bass, Mid, Trb, pan pot between the two pickups, and on top of the stack knob the master vol, In passive you get just the stack knobs bottom tone and again master vol on top (as well as pan pot.) It has a Zero frett and just in case there is also an "adjust a nut" same as the early warwicks. Playability for me is great all the notes have that swell quality to them the string spacing feels right and the action is now super low with no buzzing, I even like the sound it has that punchy mid i love in the wals and G&L 2000s Down bits... The adjust a nut string slots are all the same size, wide. and the saddle grooves are all the same size, thin. Electrics cover does not match the back ( pity) same as truss rod cover. ALL in all i dont know if im just lucky and if the others are as good, but for the money what can one really expect ? for me a great bargin and i am very happy with it, so what would i really pay for it if it was dumped in my lap without knowing ?? hard to say but i would of guessed over the 1k mark and would of been surprised at less, but under £400 ??????? i know a few on here have tried them, some with niggles so what are your thoughts ?? (Disclamer.... , its not a review and the above are just my thoughts)

10. AHHH im sure we all have had bad experiences over the years it just makes you a bit more wary of some places, im not pointing anyout. but i find certainly with heaver items if listed on ebay the further away the country people get very miffed at the high post prices, bid then dont pay. instead of checking the post price befor bidding. Becomes a pain when 4 or 5 items at a time are not being paid for. then they leave you bad feedback when all you have done is run around after them getting them the cheapst post price and as a seller you cant leave them bad feedback anymore, very anoying.
11. hi breman, i was not particularly talking about latvia. but i never knew that till i read it above !
12. I have done classic car parts on ebay for over 10 years, for the most sending around the world is ok but there is no doubt some countries have more than their fair share of real pain in the a@@ people i can almost predict what the sale is going to be like from a few countries ! so much so i have now barred some countries from bidding, its just not worth it. so, you can in your ebay sellers options just send to the EU. sorry this info does not help you much Could of been allot worse at least it came back in one piece and you can still sell it !!!!

15. Hi gary, ebay, A lady in an RAF big band had it and hardly used it as the sound was too "Electric" for big band so she decided to sell it. Ye harrr
16. Edited my 2 posts to this one... thought i would add mine, all USA. great story for the one on the left. I got it from a shop in birkenhead about 20 years ago it was 2nd hand then but as new. about 2 years later i sold it to a chap in manchester, for the cash to get something which was pants... so then all the time i wished i had never sold it then about 3 years ago i spotted it on ebay, when i contacted the seller it was the chap i sold it to, he never used it and it sat under his bed all that time, so it was pulled from ebay and i got it back £100 less than he paid for it in the same as new condition with tags and original G&L fender type case also as new, its the 3 bolt one just as they changed from having the plate on the front with leo fenders sig on the head stock, its going nowhere this time. The black Beast... Iv been after one of these for years, i have a wanted ad on here from years ago still running and bagged this 1981/2 not long ago and am positively BUZZIN,, Very powerfull defined sound, I just need an EBONY fretless (pref with hog body) and an all natural necked one now.... (another 5 years of lookin,) anyone got one for sale ? The translucent red is one of the best basses i have ever played its heavy at 8.3kg which i love this thing is as powerfull as my wal and it will growll spit and fart if you dig in hard and the slap sound would pin you to the back wall, mr king or mr johnson would love it im sure, to me its the ultmate funk bass, super low action great neck and is now with the wal my main bass. The one on the right has a quilted maple top which is a custom order ( you can order this top from the web page), which is one of the best tops i have seen on a G&L along with a few on this page ( photo does not do this one justice) its lighter than the other two, 6 bolt wider fast neck again great clear slap tone but not as much body or punch in the sound as the other three, a bit thinner sounding in the lower mid and again in the low end. to sum up, i think the G&Ls are amongst the best production bass on the planet, there is nothing they wont do, and what ever they do they do VERY WELL, an all time great all rounder. am i waffling now.... ..... ok al shut up. brace yourselvs

24. I have had my fill of "Charity gigs" also the last one we did NOV last year took me all day to set up an 11 piece band drove 30 miles, tunnel fee then while there another duo used the pa as well as a chior and an army drum thing and backing music for dancers i was at the desk all day all evening then went on last to play for 2 hours, when everyone went we took down the pa drove back got home about 2.30am two things Pi@@ed me off the club was earning a fair bit at the bar and would not contribute , we had to pay for food and drinks, even soft drinks. end of the night packing away the gear we asked for two glasses of coke and was told the bar was shut. Reading about the event in the local rag there was no mention of the effort we did only about the club and the organiser's patting themselves on the back. That was my last ......unless, as Smurfitt says we do it ourselves
