1.
No offence, but if you sold a bass in the £750 range and only donated a tenner that would be rather taking advantage of the "free" access to the for sale threads!
Hi conan, i didn't actually mean i would donate only £10 if i sold a bass for £750 it was purly a bump for bass chat to get people to appreciate it. hold on,, £10...mmmm... that 4 pints of beer for gods sake
2.
"On Tuesday 10 July 2012, the maximum final value fee for private sellers will increase from £40 to £75. This new final value fee cap will only impact listings with a sale price above £400. This change applies to private sellers and will only affect items which are listed from 10 July 2012 onwards. Fees for business sellers are unchanged. "
This means that if you sell your bass for anything over 750 which i think is about the middle ground for a number of bass's you are going to be charged another £35 on top of the £40 you would normally pay. then there is your paypall fees, ebay having the nerve to just almost double it at will i feel is just GREED. SO..... what do you think this will do ????? I think it will push prices up again as sellers still want what there item is worth and the extra costs pushed on to the buyer with higher starting prices, is it worth it ??? the reason some people put their basses on ebay is the hope they get more for it than its worth, it does happen, you may as well take advantage of the likes of loot, gumtree, ETC. As a last resort to sell something that cant be sold anywhere else then i suppose its handy. BC's market place i have always found VERY handy and from now on i would rather gladly give them £10 ( or what ever) on the sale of my bass. Also thanks to BC for keeping this free.
3. Thought it would be an informative topic on the subject of copywriting. Can we have GOOD advice please from you all on how we can protect our music, i think the days are gone of sending ourselves a copy on a cd/tape and not opening it using the post stamp as a date is a bit vague an not very watertight. Here is a great example of how you can be ripped off, i have lifted this from my post in the "funk thred" as its worth comment in two parts. 1 iconic track you might not have heard of (but you have about 1000 times befor) by "the winstons" which changed and shaped modern dub/dance hiphop acid jazz/funk FOREVER. please first watch the first youtube clip about it to the end, it really is an eye opener of how corporate greed can take your talent and you would never have enough money to fight for it back. the song... !
4. BUGGER,,,, ah well it was worth a try. nice bass, worth it for the bits alone good luck,
5. Hi its not the control plate its the way the pickups have been wired to the plate, I have had this on a few jazz's sometimes when a pickup has been replaced its wired out of phase, found this for you to save me typing it all down, same thing........ http://www.badassbassplayers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2200 try it should only take a min.
6. "has a slight electrics problem which I haven't had time to figure out (When both pickups are on full the pickups are quite nasally, back one volume off ever so slightly and it sounds fine, I reckon the bridge pickup volume pot needs rewiring." You wired the bass didnt you ? common own up, yes you did, yes you did...... switch the neck pickup wires round. ooooohhh that sounds better. Your welcome.
7. Just, got some jazz pickups off Rich, all good no problems nice and easy well packed thanks Rich. Her phone number is on its way ! just put some music on and watch !! ( shes got better timing than me !)
8. Always amazes me the way some players just look so comfortable and almost disassociated from what they are doing even tho what thay are doing is in its self so good. i always had a problem playing and singing at the same time, i worked so hard at it, and i still cant ahh well... enjoy.... 9. I replyed to this, he/she said they would send the bass from his works via parcel force and collect the cash once inspected. too good to be true.! then i got an email stating i should go to a paypoint and pay to a givin ad number then he will send the bass !!! even sending me a bogus parcel force receipt saying it had been cleared ready for collection, ! I told gumtree right away this was a scam and its still there, they are so annoyingly SLOW There was another on there for a 70s black fender jazz for 500 with a mobile number, i have never talked to a more horrid rude guy ever the address given to collect once i said i could collect with cash, was not his, he just cut me off once i asked about having a land line to contact him on or a work number. Alot of the cons pick a remote part of the uk usually on a coast so then most of the uk would want it posting and so you loose you cash through paypall or even paypoint, remember the wal scam in the Shetland islands !! MORAL.. unless they give you AT LEAST a land line you can get them on and/or a valid HOME email ad to link to an address (not a google or other on line address), dont bother ! Genuine people would not mind also google the mobile number and address given, i have done this and found a few guys just con men trying to get my dax cobra i have for sale, BUGGERS
10. I was just reading the very funny onstage cockups thred, and thought of this. one of mine is when i was playing at a party about 25years ago in a rock covers band, befor we all went back on for the 2nd set i went on and did a bass solo, i was trying to look cool and had on a pair of sunglasses, about half way through as i looked up one of the lenses fell out, the whole pub creased up, even i gave up and fell laughing. all through the 2nd set the band took turns wearing the now sunglass and could not stop laughing ! BUT i did get a free beer out of it when a guy got me one saying he felt sorry for me and was the funniest thing he had seen. AAAHHH the days
