4. forget a metronome... attach a car battery to him via a foot switch you can control.. pos+ to his ear Neg- to his toe "now look, this is a 4/4 beat" If this does not work, then the baseball bat method usually works ok, tho produces a bit more of a rash. And if this does not work, usually noted by yourself needing a bag of lime and a spade, then it might be time to think about trying someone else. it works well with drummers, anyway.

 8. Ah good subject, i am writing songs for a funk band and its nice to get some of them fat synth bass sounds on some tracks. we are just releasing a new track with such a synth bass sound, and have been through the mill of trying various sounds without spending too much cash, so have synth pedals by boss and tc and have old rack synth gear by novation, korg, And the best thing i have found is..... do your own. the best thing i have to do this which is a fantastic bit of kit is a AKAI Z4 sampler, the last one and best one that was ever made the Z4 or Z8 check them out These ones also have dedicated pc software to make editing a doddle and is still free from akai called akai sys http://akaipro.com/p...ct/z4#downloads Akai have all them moog and big fat bass sounds anyway, but you can very easy sample bass sounds you like and add other bass sounds to it making them even fatter, the whole world is open to you with this. you can get them on ebay now and again, and i would say worth every penny for another 1000 other reasons. Just a quick check on ebay i found this just sold for £140 ! less than the price of a synth pedal....... its a no brainer. that ALOT of potential for 140 and still with great backup from AKAI http://www.ebay.co.u...0IAAOSw~CFY5jp9 In terms of what else this can also do i would say it will be the best 140 you will ever spend, loads of stuff on youtube
 9. I have dablings in basses now and again, but i do make my intentions clear, for example on more expensive basses i will offer a PX deal, works great for people who cant afford the cash up front to get the chance of getting what they want and off loading something they dont need, i get the sale quicker in two parts, and get the chance to try something i would not normally touch, and sometimes make a bit more on the px if i dont like it, but the old owner is made aware it may well go up for sale and maybe a bit more than the trade in deal, everyone happy. I have just sold a bass as a px deal to a very nice chap in Ireland, a member on here, if i dont get on with the px he would not be surprised to see it for sale if i wanted to see the rest of my money But yea have been miffed a few times when people are not as up front. I remember on here a thred came up showing a nice goodfellow on ebay which i was looking at before the thred came up now i was looking at it as a keeper to go in my little goodfellow collection, but one basschatter seems wanted it also stating it was the one he was always after and very much wanted it, so i let it go rather getting into a bidding war over it. and so it sold and he won at a good price, then after about a week it was up for sale for 500ish more than was paid for it. My lesson learnt right then. now on saying that, he genuinely might not have liked it and decided to move it on, and im just bitter about not getting it but its not up to me to question his motives, because i would of done the same thing if i did not like it, would i have put it on for that amount more if it was worth that amount ? would you of ?? Thats the big question....... i think i would of done, maybe not as quick, Now thats an ebay sale, fair enough, one mans loss, its another story when its from someone you know who is giving you something cheap cus they know you and you then sell right away to get the profit, thats taking advantage of someones good nature. On the whole it does not happen very often on here within the chums of bass chat but it does now and again. i have had some great deals through the kindness of some basschatters most of which i still have.
 10. hi les, cheers for that, even better you dont have to drag your own pa there
 11.
Not sure Toni Tennille was that impressed with his contributions either. New Toy Synth time? Did you clock some of the looks she gave him?.... I think he was sleeping in the spare room that night...
I think she was ready to go over and shove it up his hoop infact she may well have done later for that
 12. For once in my life, just for the feel. And as for those deceptive ones... has to be "you to me are everything" www.youtube....h?v=yT1iDKkZNYU the one that took me the longest to get almost right, and im still on it 30 years later is "squib cakes" by tower of power Thats a whole concept in its self . 13. Hi
Chris, you need a web presence and get some videos uploaded to Facebook - I've struggled to find anything yet you have a fairly unique name. Not touting for business, just a bit of advice for your advertising.
Yea good call, we realise that and we are on it at mo, we did have a big face book page with loads of photo's and stuff, but we have had it all taken down, and redoing the lot, new pics new vids new songs new info. should be good. I am having a problem with a youtube vid tho you may be able to help with ( or anyone ??) for some reason i had two vids the same on youtube both showing my account holder name, i have deleted one of them but can't delete the other, it is not showing up anywhere in my youtube account even tho it is showing my account holder name ? Any ideas ? Cheers if anyone can help here.
 14. Thanks very much for taking the time to do that that sam, Cheers

 19. Strange how we have a vision and try hard to get to where we want to get too, but the side roads on the way always seems so seductive, I am coming from a soul, acid jazz , funkjazz, groove back ground, i always wanted to be bootsy, mark king or ron carter. Always looking for the new, i got into nils landgren through a friend, a trombone player who wanted to do more than half a sets worth of his tunes in a funkjazz band we were in, this was about the time when nils had his funk unit together, an so niles stayed with me, ended up with all the cd's and thanks to that a whole wealth of info. which leads me to Lars danielsson, he was the guy as well as ron carter that made me want to get a double bass, and the more i listen to his music the more he drives me into thinking thats where i want to get too even though my bones are shouting funk, stick with the electric funk, at heart im a funk guy, but dam his playing is so captivating, Electric Funk is my comfort zone, but the older i get im starting to feel the pull so im going to pick a few tracks to try and show that bridge and jump between the funk and the jazz side first is lars with nils and maceo an then a cover of stings fragile. there is another nils and lars version of frigile with pat metheny which is just killer also worth a look. and if interested there is a great live cd called live in stockholm with the first two tracks here on, well worth a look. impressions https://www.youtube....h?v=jLaw36tvRaQ simple life https://www.youtube....6A9753DDDA4157C frigile https://www.youtube....h?v=9RH4bFJscTE so what was your jump from electric, if you did ???

 24.
Mark King gets a terrible panning on this board from some, but, he still has a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm, drive and energy. and that modulation in the middle of 'Break Out' is just marvellous.
"Modulation" ? .. garry, if your going to start talkin jazz mate, then im going home Yep 100%, he always seems on it. hes always got drive in his playing, i love the track there is a dog on his solo album where he is playing the drums, if you listen to it carefully about 3/4 the way through you can hear him singing/shouting the phrases as hes drumming, just getting into it, really comes across, great drumming on that track, i do a little bit of drumming but them rolls are just gob smackinly good. and as you say, a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm, drive and energy. Would love to hear them do that live, ...common mark, stop mukin about 'n' lets av it
