Two wrongs don't make a right and all that... ...but then again, you wouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight.

My mate was on the radio this morning to talk about tributes with Nick Robinson and Nick from Pulp. Naturally, a fitting video was made to go with the interview.

The story on how she got that gig is even more holy crap...

I’m still confused how playing a bass is comparable to playing a synth. For extra context, I can play either (I know bass players that wouldn’t know what to do when presented with a keyboard and vice versa) and both have volume controls anyway?

Find a drummer that doesn’t beach about being on an electric kit.
-
You see, I find drummers genuinely a bigger problem than guitarists. They don’t even have to do a sneaky turn around to turn the volume up.

Miriam Margolyes isn't really my type WoT, I think I'd find her a challenging w....*

For those that don't know, Titanex HO7RN-Fn as used in the Custom Lynx solution, is mega. It's cable that is rubber to the touch, super, super flexible - and lies flat and doesn't kink up.

Want your band to sound epic in a pub? Section 7 - https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/389429-the-iem-bible-thread/?do=findComment&comment=3944337 It's not big - but it is clever.

He should stick to playing bass… …having said that…

If you think that you have it bad, think about what your audience are experiencing.

I get the safety thing - but nothing looks worse than a load of white multigangs or brightly coloured cables sprawling across the stage. Yes for the lawnmower. No for the stage. Although @stingrayPete1977has a valid point - nobody is in a rush to nick bright orange cables.

I do find these conversations interesting. Twitter is full of it - I tend to keep off there nowadays. All these people that say that they haven't got a problem with women, there's no misogyny - go appoint a woman as England mens football manager and just watch the fireworks. Adam Clayton probably hasn't got a problem with women - but his conversation - and the normalisation of it, is fuelling the thoughts and influencing the next generation to think that this is OK.

This thread is more interesting than his basslines to be fair.

Are you female, Kev?

http://www.mxdwn.co.uk/news/nadine-shah-takes-exception-with-adam-clayton-comment-on-bass-players-being-the-men-of-the-band/ I just watched the clip found via the link above. Typical male bravado stinky poo-talk that really should have died out by now. I don't know her music. Dont care for his. But I imagine that if I was female, I'd be pretty tired of still hearing this rhetoric. Bringing gender into music. For crying out loud. He should go back to playing his jazz. In reality, I guess, unless you are female, you can't really say how this would impact you - and if you are a bloke on a bass forum, then your opinions probably shouldn't count for anything anyway. The sooner that men stop telling women what their role should be, how they should feel etc... the better the world will be.

Or sit down when taking a number 2.

Vote for the Hugo 8 way here - https://cpc.farnell.com/brennenstuhl/1150613318/extension-skt-surge-8-way-anthracite/dp/PL13410 Daisy chaining them is fine - there's nothing really in a modern band that draws enough power to worry about (unless you are still using old school lighting)

Have a read of this - if there's still questions, ask away!

Yeah. Nah, hard pass.

@dave_bass5 - not sure who else is interested anymore but we been back at the footage, thought you'd be interesting in taking a look! So... more content from the private festival. Watch out for the extreme closeup!

Made a few edits to the previous post to make more sense - can see you are reading Dave so you may miss the changes.

The audio was a massive, massive pain in the backside. I had to convince the somebody to run everything we had through RX to try and get some sort of track separation so the thing could be remixed. Im still not happy with the sound of it at all... but done is better than it just being shelved, especially when it's more than what most bands would put out. Anyway, all these issues combined with a FoH guy that wants to saturate everything with FX it was a complete nightmare. Still, sorted that now as the band now captures everything raw before it gets to the desk. Everything is still (like ever) a big learning curve. Im happy with progress and just looking forward to getting out there and shooting some more stuff. Im getting quite good at getting the cameras looking great - I've got some tools to assist (like using false colour to get the skin exposure correct) - and of course, it makes blown highlights stand out like a sore thumb, so I can deal with it. Hopefully, if you look at some of the items in shot that would normally blow out (e.g. the par cans behind the band), you can see there's still colour in there. To me, it makes a massive difference than just seeing pure white. The only light which is blown (I think) is the key light that was put at the front to actually illuminate the players (that's the one seen on the dance floor shot - you'll be amazed at how many people that record bands don't actually light the subjects! Cant do much about it as the dynamic range between the shadows and the light is massive... but at least the light is meant to be white!) So yeah, I'm pretty pleased - especially since I had nowhere near the space I had at the festivals. Obviously it's still not as good as if I had an individual person on each camera but considering it's just me out there, it's pretty good I think. Again, probably better than what most are putting out (without blowing my own trumpet too much). There's another recording going on this weekend but illness in my household means I won't be there. Andy (singer) is just going with static cams - but it will at least give us a maiden voyage with the new sound setup to learn from that.
