1. thats cos spraying and polishing over it costs time and money.
 2. If you don't want to spend near (or just over) your top figure, don't try an Ernie Ball Jr volume pedal... they make everything else in that price range kinda feel... err... cack.
 3.
Unless the controls on your bass do something very different such as the filter EQ of the Wal or ACG, or they allow you to EQ each pickup separately, I really can't see the point as all they do is duplicate what you should already have available on your amp.
Thats great if you can actually get to your amp... or don't want to manipulate the EQ mid song without going over to your amp.
 4.
All my basses are active/passive.. they sound better active..
You do realise that if you run them passive, the pickups are going straight to the jack or running with horribly wrong pot values?
 5. La la la Dave Swift.
 6.
This is now sold pending final confirmation
The whole lot or just the 210? Only asking because I have stuff I'm selling and didn't want to scupper your sales as you were up first.
 7.
In rehearsals, right? That would be serious primadonna behaviour in front of an audience!
Yup. But you could make it your thing and gain notereity if you did it at gigs!
 8.
I've done it live with a pair of ridiculous guitarists, not the tea but I've sloped off into the corner to make a point to them, the quality of the performance has already gone to crap by then anyway.
Good old Matt and Chris
 9. Make a point of not playing. If nobody notices, then you are not just too loud, you are far too loud. If nobody notices that you are not playing, you should go out and fix yourself up a cuppa.
 10. If you haven't already, check out the monster IEM thread here - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/205633-in-ear-monitors-help-needed/ - to refine your tone either further. The question about running your setup in a monitoring solution for when you aren't running front of house is also covered.
 11.
It was relevant to Molan's arguement. As usual, every post on here is right and every post on here is wrong, depending on your opinion. As per previous, let's now keep this on topic!
Err... Isn't that how opinions work?
 12.
It was a one off and it finally resolved in the customers favour. I don't see the relevance.
Aye. Just reread the thread. I think that any luthier will have that one off problem customer too...
 13. Only joking. Not a chance!
 14.
There is a rather infamous Talkbass thread you should check out. Certainly did enough to make me overlook any instrument of theirs going forward!!
Now you mention it, I seem to recall.
 15.
I thought you stocked alleva coppolo??
I wasn't aware of any AC issues - PM me the details?
 16. Ouch - pricey. I would wager they are made especially for Yamaha by Gotoh (they look very similar) - but haven't found a current model with the same screw layout.
 17.
On their way to the cold and wet lowlands
Not too long from now then? Looking forward to hearing your appraisal of them and how they compare to what you are currently using as a benchmark.
 18.

The perceived watt unit. That was a great thread.
 19.
Out of every 100 guitarists that come along, one of em will be really good, considerate, sensible, knows what , when and how to play the right thing at the right time, always has the correct volume, right attitude ect ect. That very same one is currently playing for some successful signed act or equivalent successful scenario. The other 99 are in our bands preventing us from the same success.
^Truth!
 20. Or crystal guitar strap for that matter.
 21.
Shall I put the kettle on? Biscuits? PS. We're at Akamba tomorrow night. Come on over and have a fiddle if you want. ;-)
Promised a weekend with the other half... but we should meet up at some point for just general bass geekery anyway.
 22. Stick with it - Yamaha spares are pretty good. It may take a while to come (as a lot of the stuff ships from Japan) but they are very contactable (usually!)
 23. https://www.thomann...._mhx50_250558_0 All the tech spec/details found above. I've got two of these back from storage which I no longer have a need for. Boxed and still in the polystyrene - were used for a couple of years in an old function band but not been utilised since. Prepared to let the pair go for £400.
 24.
Many thanks Jon for the details! The man himself:
^ Yup that defo says you know what on the headstock.
