1.
Nice, Luke. EBS Freak, thanks for the suggestion. I ordered them. I'll keep you updated. Too bad I can not compare them to the UE900's. And made use of a nice tip from another site: <Link Removed>
I can't vouch for how good they are... just the fact that a dynamic driver should be stronger than a single balanced armature in the lows. Those are the older versions of the newer ProHDs - but the technology with the dynamic driver in the low is still the same thinking as the new ones. Just make sure that you get a good seal with the tips, you don't want to be losing any bass. If the supplied tips don't fit well, get some more suited to your ear shape!
2.
So you know when you see a wee bit odd eBay ad- one where on a big money purchase you would avoid? Well the postman just brought me what looks like a opened but new, probably grey import, ue900s for £125! Looking forward to trying them out
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

4. There's not really a lot of competition at that price point, especially when we are talking quad drive balanced armatures. There's the XBA40s if you can find them... otherwise you are stepping up to say the Westone WD40s. Should probably point out that the competition in balanced armature designs is very tight - there are only really Knowles and Sonion in the balanced armature manufacture game, so likelihood whatever you buy will be made from those, or a combination of those. What you are paying for is the sound signature (e.g. tuning and crossover design - that for most are actually passive and made up via tube dampening and tube length, only a few have electronic crossovers in place) and the casing. The UE900s are defo the bargains... and considering that they are from UE (who are certainly up there in terms of IEM front runners), they are not to be sniffed at despite them having been on the market for some time. There is a reason why they haven't been discontinued - they are great. These have also been on my radar of late - http://www.mi.com/en/headphonesprohd/ - only out since the end of 2016... Dynamic in the lows so should give better response than a single BA (remember I always suggest at least a dual low when using balanced armatures because balanced armatures have less headroom) - http://www.ebay.co.u...725.m3641.l6368 (Easiest place to source is probably eBay as they are not officially available outside of the US) They are cheap enough to give them a whirl, right?
5. Incredibly unfair world we live in. Vic was a top bloke.
6. As the post heading says, I'm looking for a particular mic stand that I have seen but don't know what it is. Basically, it's a mic stand with asymetric poles (basically an offest U shape) so that the booms can't twist.... does anybody know what they are or where I could get some?
7.
I really want to know more details about this: How was it cut? How much do you have to allow for the thickness of the chrome plating around the holes? Did you have to fettle it before plating? How much does all this cost?
I can't give all my secrets away - especially as the guy I'm doing this with has suggested that we could start something up if there is demand. I'm not sure if there is or not at the moment. What I can say, is that the spec is EXACTLY the same is Nile's - in terms of thickness and materials. What I will say though is that the design was drawn up and computer cut to be absolutely accurate (yes the holes match up to the Fender plates exactly - so virtually no fettling after the cutting process (just a bit of smoothing pre chrome) It's chrome - so it's pretty expensive... but if these were to be marketed, they'd cost just over a hundred quid based on some rough calculations.
8.
So now we all know where to come for chrome P scratchplates...
Is there that much of a demand for them?

10.
I have a mirror-like scratchplate on a P bass - spend most of my life polishing out finger marks. If you find a mucky screen on your phone annoying you're going to be in trouble...
I had a piano black BBNE2. There's nothing worse than that.
11.
Looking forward to seeing the results. Would there be any kind of...I dunno...lacquer or somesuch you could coat the 'plate with to make it less prone grime retention ?
The chrome is really shiny and wouldn't need a coat as it's perfectly smooth - like glass - there's nothing for the grime to get caught on. It's REALLY difficult to photograph but here's an idea.
12. Just on way back home. Pics to follow!
13. Are they really chrome plated brass at the above link?
14. Chroming in progress...
15. So... in a bid to build an authentic "Hitmaker" strat, I've started drawing up the plans to get some brass machined into a strat shaped scratchplate with the view of then enlisting some help from a chromeplating friend of mine...
16.
It was only a matter of time before secret societies and coded messages were being used on this Forum. I'm obviously being excluded.
*...%/$...@..|||'.\}!!^{~
17. To see if it's the old fx loop problem (which was later fixed) put a jumper cable between the send and return on the fx loop on the rear. This may solve the problem. As stated, some servisol sometimes solves the problems but a new fx loop board would be the fix if you wanted it to be A1.
18. I always like Bartolinis singles - not an exciting choice maybe, but they work and sound great... and don't have a nasty hum like a lot of the others that have been mentioned in the thread. I had a set of Nordstrands - they were unusually noisy, shame as they actually sounded alright.
19. Was going to say - an insert cable will do you, in fact, I used my Ernie Ball volume pedal with a Mobius.
20.
Anyone mentioned Queen with Adam Lambert?
Queen's not Queen without Deacon and Freddy
21. Been there. Imagine doing all that you've said and being told that they are getting the original bass player in because they landed the support slot on the comeback Blur tour. It hurts. Move on. It'll rip you up otherwise.
22. Looking into getting a hazer primarily - cost aside, any body got any in-depth information about them. I guess the primary concerns are not setting off fire alarms (which smoke machines do a lot more readily than hazers) and a good coverage without loud operating volumes. MVS has currently got my interest... what are you guys running?
23. Bush Traffic Rainbow The Beatles (with Billy Preston) Foreigner
24.
I'm sure this will sound great but that logo is a certified disaster. Looks like my mum designed it in between writing christmas cards and decorating a cake. This is what happens when people think they can do 'arty' stuff just because they have a computer. If you're going to build state of the art equipment, don't get your mum to do the typography, at least talk to someone who vaguely knows what they're doing..
font = Stone Handwriting Looks a bit gyp for a premium product
