  1. Yeah - not great at the moment :-/
  2. Gosh. Your brain must have a hard life!
  3. I quantified the impact of tone with a valve amp above. To clarify - if the volume coming out of the amp is lower, the less gets to the vocal mics. if you don't run a valve amp hard enough, you may not get the speakers working as they should and they won't give the tone that you are looking for. Likewise, if you don't run a valve amp hard enough, the tone will be very bass shy. In order to get the tone right you'll need to work the amp and speakers right -and that usually results in unfriendly volumes for a sound engineer. in terms of on stage noise rejection, mics with high off axis rejection are the obvious choice.
  4. Clearsonic ampshield - if anybody wants one for their monkey guitarist.
  5. They do also - spill into vocal mics. But that's the same as turning down the volume.
  6. Modellers are so good now, I don't know what you would want to.
  7. The tone of a valve amp changes with the volume as do the speakers. This enables the amp and speakers to be driven to the required levels without taking people's heads off.
  8. That can be a problem. It depends on the mics that you use. Because it's being close miced it's less of an issue - more of an issue for kits.
  9. Brings the volume of the amp down so that the PA guy has a chance of getting a decent mix. It guessing if it wasn't balanced where you were, there were no front fills.

  11. More googling - https://www.aaw.me/products/iem-remolding-modification-service https://nocaudio.com/order/ciem/ https://www.jomoaudio.com/collections/jomo-iem/reshell https://www.earprotech.com/shop/in-ear-custom/reshell/transformer-iem-reshell http://topears.ru/
  12. It would look that way - I'm looking to see what else is out there. There's not really that much profit in reshelling so I can understand why the manufacturers go for selling their own premade solutions. Theres quite a few people I know looking for options on the reshell front now. Bit of a void now that inearz have pulled out of that market. Guess they are concentrating on pushing the Apex stuff right now.
  13. Bit tricky at the moment - maybe I should offer my services in the reshelling world. Don't think I could be doing with the overhead though at the moment! Anyway, there's these guys - but can't vouch for how good they are - https://www.null-audio.com/collections/earphone-remolding-service
  14. Sounds like a case of sack it off. You have a PA. You are a very attractive prospect for existing bands... or in an ideal position to start again and be more critical when it comes to hiring. Life too short for that kind of shizzle. Enjoy the inevitable bad mouthing though if you do decide to uproot.
  15. Is this another bassferret thread?
  16. That's just baiting now.
  17. I must have about 1000 Gregorian chants down.
  18. I think the original question should be... how many songs that are not derived from a standard 12 bar blues progression can you play...?
  19. There's an Ashdown jacket too! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H-M-Biker-Grey-Woollen-Jacket-size-10-GREAT-CONDITION/292426740927?hash=item4415fdf4bf:g:W84AAOSwhplabOLu
  20. Hang on... Markbass. Ugly? Maybe they do look like they lifted their image from Tonka toys... but there's some far uglier cabs out there.

  22. D5 seems to be a very good mic - theres a band with that use them across all the vocalists and they seem to be very consistent in their performance. I dont recall ever having any battles with feedback - mind you, this particular band runs a silent stage with the exception of the drums. Oh and the other great things about those mic - they don't break the bank. The more and more mics that I use, the more I am turned off Shure. The 58 and 58a really don't do it for me - although I do like a 57/a on the snare. The majority of my vocal mics are 935s and 945s. The 965 tends to be a bit on edge unless we are talking big stages. Mind you, I find that when using all condensers as vocal mics. I tend to think that they are more hassle than they are worth because all the extra air and clarity you end up rolling off anyway, especially if there's a kit behind the singer. Historically my fave dynamic was the Heil PR45 but I am more turned on to the sounds of the OM5 and OM7 from Audix. They are ridiculously good on loud stages - unfortunately they tend to come up a substantially higher price. I'm really impressed by the Audix range... and very tempted to change my drum mic setup to Audix too.
  23. I'm intrigued. What vocal mics do people use and why? Im guessing the 58 will make a strong appearance.... but the question remains, why the 58?
  24. Free as a Bird John Lennon stylee
  25. I I doubt it has anything to do with needing money. For example Frida got 75 million in addition to her own Anna based wealth when her husband von Plauen passed. I think all of them are earning enough from royalities (no pun intended) to not be caring about the money aspect.
