Nordstrands and passive setup in Warwick Stage 1 5er?
jimbobothy replied to jimbobothy's topic in Repairs and Technical
... AFAIU the P2 Bart size is a straight swap. I’d go for the 19mm spacing option due to the broadneck spacing, over the other options. -

... great job, very neat 🔈👍🏼 -
Hey all, I'm thinking of going down the Nordstrand BigSplits pickup route with my Warwick Streamer Stage 1 5er. I've never been a fan of active preamps on basses and often use the wick in bypass mode, preferring to eq etc via my board or amp. So this has led me to consider if I did go down this route to go fully passive, has anyone done this before, and if so what pots etc did you use? I've wired up loads of jazzes I've had in the past so could go for a V/V/T/T similar in control to the stacked pot jazzes (but using single pots of course). Any thoughts or suggestions folks? I also have a Thumb Broadneck fretless 5 I'd consider going down the same route, but that only has 3 holes, so it'd be V/V/T or V/B/T on that one. Peace.

.... how is the pedal working out?

... extra wooden ones under the bridge are for the piezo pickups in the bridge I think I read somewhere.

... our church was recording live worship every couple of weeks, but it was decided to halt that with the new variant/lockdown. Hopefully we'll get back to it asap God willing.

... the Velcro come pre-attached, but I use Dual Lock. Don’t think it’d close very well with dual lock on. Either way I think the idea is really good 👍🏼

lol, it never ends does it. I'm learning myself not to say 'This is it now' as it'll always change in the end 😁 I'm loving the mini QuarterMaster. Has anyone seen this new board yet? https://www.musicradar.com/news/daddario-has-released-an-expandable-pedalboard-called-the-xpnd

... if I ever built a bass I’d want to have this attention to detail, really impressed and a lovely result 👍🏼

.... love that bass 👍🏼

... got these two replies from Music Tribe when I enquired: ...and... The user settings (Serial/Build number) are in fact held in the flash memory, I have just received confirmation that the missing serial number issue cannot be resolved once it occurs. In this instance please do not remove the serial number from your physical unit. This will not effect any loaded Toneprints and they will still be held on the unit when powered off. I hope this helps. So a rare event that won’t stop anything. All ok then 👍🏼

... well I bought one over a year ago with the view to it being my main pedal. Mmm, well if you ask the missus if that plan happened she might have something to say about it!! I’ve now got 3 boards built, 3 empty boards and no gigs for a while ha ha!! I guess you could try to emulate whatever effects you used before, a good starting point. A little hint (you well may already know this one), when you use a looper or Poly Sustain have them at the end of then chain of 8 blocks, then when you change sounds the original set drone or loop won’t be affected. However if you want to see how tweaking the parameter controls alters the sound, have the looper block at the start, play a bit, then but your bass down when the loop is playing and tweak to your hearts content 👍🏼

... cheers Stub Mandrel, I had to look up what EEPROM was lol. Your insight is interesting as it's not an area I've been involved with. I've posed the question to TC Electronic (via Music Tribe) and I'll see what they come up with, I somehow don't expect it be as a technical explanation as you have put 👍 Peace.

Lol, love it 😁

Cheers, my older one shows up all fine (both build and serial no.) just the new to me one doesn’t. Still works fine so I’ll put it down to a glitch somewhere along the line. Thanks for your reply anyhow 👍🏼

I've also posted this in the Repair and Technical section, not sure if it's better in this one 😁 Hey folks, I thought I’d ask other Spectracomp users on here. I’ve got two Spectracomps, one recently bought used. When using the Toneprint Editor the older unit shows it’s serial number properly in the settings menu, whereas the more recently acquired one only shows ‘-1’. I’ve updated this newer ones firmware to the latest 706 (from 606) version, and it still shows the odd serial no. The pedal seems to work fine and can load Toneprints as expected, so it’s not an issue so to speak, but is this just a glitch or have other owners had a similar experience? Please see the screenshot of the editor below: Peace.
