1. Still getting this. DO I need to PM a mod?
2. And no URL appears. Just a right-click Flash menu.
3. Really irritating. Is it allowed? Looks like this:
4. Probably as easy as it gets: https://www.wetransfer.com Just upload your file(s) and the recipient gets an e-mail containing the download link.
5. I've had some hair-raising moments on this thread! I don't know where to begin but this made me stop and listen: and this has been taking my breath away for 40+ years: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1fvqPsbn7I
6. The nut on my bass needs filing - or replacing with an adjustable nut. Maybe one of these: http://www.thomann.d...r_nut_bass.htm# A couple of things concern me. First, the angle of the slots in the screws. I assume they're horizontal, which is not the case with a correctly filed nut. Second, unless the screw threads are very tight, there's a possibility of them rattling. Any thoughts, e.g. I worry too much?
7.
Do we have different standards for women I wonder?
I can only speak for myself and I honestly don't believe I'm guilty on that score. I, and others, mentioned male vocalists who also consistently have pitch problems. The other extreme - the Staves' pitching was impeccable. The object of the criticism just happens to be a woman. Are you suggesting that any criticism of a female vocalist is invalid if it comes from a man?
8. I always forget that this kind of music is depressing to some people. I think those of us who have a tendency to the dark side find it comforting - "Oh somebody else knows how it feels". A bit like settling into a comfortable warm bath. A very dramatic voice - and in tune too
9. To counter my negativity re Florence and the Machine, I'm currently astonished by Nadine Shah's voice and songs. Just wow! I do like a bit of dark and sinister. Feast your ears: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIAKMdER2Ls I thought I read somewhere she was doing Glastonbury but can't find anything on iPlayer. Any info?
10.
Some singers with very, dodgy intonation, have gone on to fame and fortune in the past. Simon Le Bon and Sade are two that instantly come to mind.
Morrissey and Nick Cave to keep them company. Just been listening to F&theM's "Lungs". Can't understand why such a fuss was made over them - although to be fair, her Autotune was impeccable.
11.
In her defence and on the subject of correct intonation, I do think it's the most overrated aspect of music.
Right, on the strength of that I'm going to rip out my frets
12. I've never given Florence and the Machine a proper listen so thought I'd give their Glastonbury show a try. 15 minutes in and I can't stand her slightly flat vocals any more. Is this a one-off monitoring problem or is she always like this live?
13. "Must be exaggerating" I thought, so had a listen. They should have stopped after the brilliant "New Born".
14. There's a dealer over here (Czech Republic) offering them for the equivalent of 236GBP. Almost worth popping over for a beer. http://www.music-city.cz/cort-gb75-opn-rosewood-fingerboard-open-pore-natural-32344.html?utm_source=heureka.cz&utm_medium=pricenidexer&utm_campaign=feed
15.
Eneloops and other low self discharge batteries retain their charge well.
Just looked at some numbers. They're more than a bit better! Do they need a special charger or is a normal NiMh charger OK?
16.
Is it not just a massive great resistor that is either in circuit or not?
I hope not. It would finish up with slightly less available volume in 4 ohm as compared to 8 ohm.
17.
Doesn't everyone just use rechargeables these days anyway?
They're really not much good in low current applications as they lose a fair bit of charge per day even when not in use.
18. I''m not cab shopping but curious anyway. Presumably this cab has a driver with dual voice-coils. So what changes when you switch impedance - apart from the impedance of course? As the two coils can't be in the same place at the same time, the driver's characteristics/performance/sound must be different depending on the impedance setting. More specifically, thermal power rating and, as the voice coil inductance must also be different, frequency response must be different too. Probably Xmax and various other parameters as well. Any ideas?
19. I would never have got to the end of that e-mail without some paragraphing.
20. No idea but I like the low-mid bovine "moo" thing on #5
21. At least it comes with a power cord.
22. Ah, that's better! It was all getting a bit transatlantic there for a while.
