1. i have one and use it for late night practice once the kids are in bed. The sound is crisp and clear with no issues for me with the E string. No 9v in though - battery only i'm afraid
2. it seems seymour duncan do them too http://www.seymourduncan.com/liberator/
3. i use either the CEB3 or the MXR black label chorus. The BLC primarily now!
4. i currently have both. The blowtorch is best suited to fuzzy/ synthy sounds. It can do overdrive, but it always has a fuzzy edge to it. For Distortion, I would most defintiely go with the M80. Judicious use of the blend works wonders, but it can get some lovely drive/ dist sounds.
5. One of my students has one of the chinese Hofners. The built quality is awesome especially considering the price point. It isn't a one off either, i've played another one of the hofners in a friends shop and it was also as good. For the cash i think they'd be hard to beat
6. I've used a few different comps, including most of the usual suspects, but as yet haven't found one that i really like. I'm waiting to try out the new MXR bass comp. It looks really cool and is due reasonably soon in the shops.

19. I've also had one from new. The p lyte is my go to for recordings normally unless I have a specific Tone in mind. I've never felt that either the pups or pre are lacking anything, even in the thickest of mixes, I've never thought the bass sounds weedy. I've not had the problem with battery life either Of course ymmv Have fun discovering !
