1. Bit of a long shot this, but I'm looking to trade a loaded Fender Precision body for a loaded Jazz body. The P body is from a Mexican Fender Precision. Sunburst, shell guard, and has a Basslines Quarterpounder pickup fitted , together with a Gotoh 201 Bridge (I've got a standard Fender Bridge somewhere from a 70s reissue Precision which I could swap with the Gotoh if preferred). It's currently fitted to a fretless neck, but I'm never convinced that a fretless Precision is ''right'' - If its fretless it should be a Jazz! The Body has a few chips and dings - not a relic, but obviously well used. If there's any interest I can get some pics posted. So, I'm looking to trade the Precision Body for a similar (loaded) Jazz body. Doesn't have to be Fender, by the way. As I say, bit of a long shot, but if you don't ask........
 2.
I'm now looking for a straight sale on this - £500 including the Warwick Gigbag and users pack?
Bump for a pre-ebay price reduction - £450?
 3. I've used bronze on mine, but they do sound very bright, which wasn't really the sound I was after from the acoustic. I've recently fitted a set of the Rotosound nylon flatwounds, and they sound fantastic. Really nice rounded tone which to my ears suits acoustic.

 5.
Anyone out there running these configurations? I've posed this question as part of a sort of pick up thread in Basses, but this seems a more appropriate area to ask the question. As much as I love the single P tone I sometimes what to add something a bit more bridgelike in sound (if you get my drift). I've tried P/Js but find that it's really all or nothing with that config, no real gradual blend of the J to speak of, almost as if a 3 way selector is being used as opposed to a blend knob or 2 vols. What's the story on double Ps and P/MM, can you just blend just a little of the bridge with these more powerful p/ups? These configs also seem to be fairly rare statistically speaking and I can't find any soundclips.
Sandberg make several basses with a P/MM configuration. I've played a couple of the Precision types with that configuration, and theyr'e very nice indeed. Link here: http://www.sandberg-guitars.de/ And I think Warwick do some models with P/P configuration, although I've never tried one.
 6.
How about a Warmoth Jazz? Walnut body, pau ferro neck and fingerboard, schaller tuners and gotoh bridge. It's active with a pair of duncans in it and is a lined fretless
PM sent
 7.
An hour's trip away is Electro Muisc in Doncaster. Dave Ryan will always cut a better deal than practically everyone else. Excellent store! Rich.
If you do make the trip from Derby to Electro, make a short detour on the way to Music Scene in Mansfield. Surprisingly good for a small shop, and they've just started to stock Music Man stuff.
 8. I'm looking to trade my Corvette $$ for a fretless - possibly another Warwick, but anything considered. This is a cracking bass, but isn't getting used since I got my Thumb. Here's a pic - I'll get some better ones posted asap. I bought it from Sound Control in Birmingham a couple of years ago, and its in pristine condition, save for a small mark above the back pickup where I've rested my thumb. Edit: I'm now looking for a straight sale rather than a trade - now withdrawn
 9. Colin Moulding - XTC. Very underrated bass player (and a very underrated band IMO)
 10. Down in the Tube Station - The Jam Love Cats - The Cure I am the Resurrection - Stone Roses Are you Gonna be My Girl? - Jet
 11.
Cool might be there, is there a train worcestershire from nottingham?
Worcester from Nottingham is a pain by train. You have to change at Birmingham New Street. Luke and I may well be up for driving over if this happens - if so you're welcome to a lift?
 12.
are a bit "geeky" though. You wouldn't want to turn up to a punk gig with anything other than a black Precision. That's just the way it is
Lol! We play Anarchy in the UK as an encore number, and I have to admit I always switch from the Warwick to my White Precision for that - I don't think Sid would have looked the part with a Warwick somehow!
 13.
I love my Thumb BO 4 and I intend for my next purchase to be another Warwick too. I don't sing it's praises too much on here because they are a 'Marmite' bass and not everyone gets on with the shape of the neck, or being forced to wear them high to prevent the neck-dive. I'm actually quite happy that they are out of favour at the moment as it means I'm more likely to pick up a bargain 2nd hand
+1 to all of that. My Thumb BO sounds great, and to me is one of the nicest basses I've played. But it was owned by two other members on here previously, who just couldn't get on with it. Its a great time to buy Warwicks if you like them!
 14.
Gonna go with striped ebony, front and back.
Good call! Jon Shuker is building me a singlecut with a striped ebony top - it looks like this at the moment.
 15. According to this, the Fender Custom Shop didn't start until 1987: http://www.fender.com/customshop/aboutus/history.php
 16.
I've seen many recommendations for PMT. But when I go on their website, there seems to be limited choice. Mostly Ibanez, some Trabens (reviews of which seem mixed, though at one point I was attracted to the Array in the same way that a Magpie goes for shiny metal objects), a couple of Line 6 basses, and a Washburn acoustic. Is the in-store selection wider? Otherwise, it seems a good shop to visit if they have what you want, but not for general browsing. Is this wrong?
The in store selection is much wider than the stuff on their webiste. They stock a good range of Fender, Musicman, Sandberg, Ibanez, Line 6, Ashdown, Yamaha etc. Also a good range of effects. Well worth a visit. The selection of Sandberg stuff is usually worth a visit on its own!
 17.
Its okay as a shop. They had a black cutlass on the wall, also an "earthquake-damaged" no-name jazz bass. Lady at Music Scene has always been very nice to me, maybe you caught her on an off-day? There's a good but small shop in Nottingham off mansfield road across teh top of the forest (near the fancy dress shop)
I tried out the ''Earthquake Damaged Jazz'' last time I was there - Looks and sounds pretty good for under £200!
 18.
Hi all I will be purchasing a new bass in November/December time and was wondering which places (in the East Midlands/South Yorkshire area) I will need to check out. I already know about Electromusic in Doncaster but I would like to visit a few shops to try out as many basses as I can. I live in Lincoln and anywhere within a couple of hours drive would be fine. I am (almost certainly) buying a Stingray, but I could be tempted with other options as and when I see/try them. Many thanks Rick
IMO, you'll struggle to do better than Electro in S Yorks and E Mids. Others you could try are Music Inn and the Drum & Guitar Centre in Nottingham. Both decent shops, with helpful staff, but the bass stock is a bit limited. Music Scene in Mansfield is surprisingly good for a small shop. They've usually got one or two interesting items in there, and I think they had a new Stingray on the wall last time I visited (would be worth phoning to check though). They also have a small selection of used/vintage stuff which is nice to browse. Otherwise, I would go a bit further afield and pay a visit to PMT in Birmingham. Best shop in the Midlands bar none.
 19.
The right 1x15 probably would be - there was a Mark Bass 1x15 Jeff Berlin combo on sale here - might still be.
+1 for the Jeff Berlin. It would be ideal, and the one for sale on here is at a good price.
 20.
Cool which configuration did you have?
It was Volume, blend, and stacked treble/bass. All does what it says on the tin!
 21.
Does anyone know if the audere preamps that you can fit in your jazz bass are any good?
Used to have one in my Jazz and really liked it. Kept the character of the passive Jazz, but with more tonal variety and output. And they're very easy to fit (they must be, as I managed it!).
 22.
Surprisingly though, these days I'd have to say that it's down to the individual bass.
+1. I've owned MIM, MIJ and MIA Fenders and had some good and some bad. I owned a Mex Jazz which was posibly the worst bass I've ever owned. On the other hand, my Mex P had one of the nicest necks I've played. My take on it is that the MIJ Fenders are probably the most consistently good. US Fenders can be fantastic, but I'm never convinced they're worth the extra money compared to Japanese Fenders. And you can get some good Mex stuff - especially if you take into account the fact that you can upgrade pickups, bridge etc with the cash you'll save. But I would never buy a Fender without trying it first
 23.
The Birmingham Reverb (still using the Sound Control website) have the B2.1u in for £49. In the interests of marital bliss and because I've got a V-Amp Pro and an AX3000B and a Zoom RFX-2000, I shan't be buying one, but it may be of interest to others.
Blimey - at that price I'm inclined to buy one and whack it straight onto ebay!
 24.
the B2 and B2.1U are identical apart from the expression pedal. So if your not gunna use the pedal, then get the B2 stay away from the B1's, they aint the same quality
Agreed - one other point though. The B2.1U has a DI out. I don't think the B2 or B1 have. Worth taking into account if you are likely to be using it live through the PA.
 25. Have to agree with the comments above about the quality of the Behringer rack tuner. I've owned some decent Behringer pedals, but the rack tuner was next to useless for bass. I sold it within a month and bought a Korg.
