1. +1 on the Korg DT10. Very accurate and fantastic value. I've not tried the Behringer TU300, but their rack tuner is the worst tuner I've ever tried!
 2.
Anyway, I'm very interested! --> PM
Replied and sold to Mr Fixxxer!
 3.
Here, here! Are you 4stringadvisor on Ebay by the way? ^^
No, I can't say I am! I've had a quick look at his profile, and he appears to be in Fife - quite a way from me!
 4. Stingray is the obvious choice, but have a look at the ATK. It's heresy to say it, but I actually prefer the sound of mine to the sound of my old 'ray. I would also have a look at the Sandberg California Precisions - they have a P pickup plus a Musicman pickup at the bridge. Probably at the top of your price range, but very nice basses.
 5.
For a while I was GAS-ing over their Ampeg AEB-1 copy, the EEB-1.
They seem to have a more than passing resemblance to these: http://www.arbiter.co.uk/italia/electric_b...bass_guitar.htm.
 6.
Audere?
+1 for Audere. I fitted the Audere JZ3 to my Jazz - very easy retro-fit, with no soldering. I'm very pleased with it. And they're very good value new. With the weak dollar it worked out quite a bit cheaper than the East. I ordered mine direct from their website here: http://www.audereaudio.com/JZ3.htm
 7.
i'm pretty sure me and simon1964 (my dad) are going, i think we got tickets.
Yes we are!
 8.
received my double $$ today awsome . still waiting for my hartke amp ,UPS seem to have mislaid it somewhere so are now tracking it down . not very good . bass came via TNT from the bass centre .10/10 to them for service
I hope you'll be posting some pics in the bass porn section! Brilliant basses, but every other $$ I've seen (including mine)has been in Nirvana Black - your antique tobacco sounds great
 9.
Hi there I'm in the fortunate position of having approximately £1000 to spend on a 5-string bass. I am considering Clover and Lakland, based on recommendations and having tried them out. Versatility, tone, good 'B', and good high fret access would be desirable (24 frets would be great, but not necessary). However, I have thought recently about a Warwick. They have such a huge array of models and are very popular, yet it would seem they are rarely recommended. Are they good? If so, which ones? If not, what's wrong with them? Cheers
I can't really comment on Lakland or Clover, but personally I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you try Warwick. However, as someone has said on here before, they are the ultimate Marmite bass - you will either love the sound and feel or hate it. As OTPJ has said, the Corvette $$ is a great bass, and well within your price range. I would also have a look at Sandberg in the price range you've mentioned.
 10.
, simply needs control and stamina.
That will be precisely why its hard for me! To be fair, I should have said its hard to play it in a tight and controlled way fingerstyle, which is actually why it is a good exercise.
 11.
Another obvious one is Parallel Universe for fingerpicking stamina.
Parallel Universe is bloody hard to play fingerstyle - did I read somewhere that Flea actually uses a pick on that track (live at least)?
 12. I bought this pedal some time ago, I think from a Basschatter, but don't remember who! I've never really used it, and its in mint condition, still boxed and with the manual. These are quite versatile, and can be used as a DI, or to provide anything from a bit of warmth through to heavier distortion in your pedal chain. They retail at around £80 new. I'm looking for £40 plus postage. PM me for any more details.
 13. Nice stuff. That 'ray is great - by far the lightest Iv'e played!
 14.
Hey Guys that's great feedback.... I have now bought a HW1 Jazz....and I have to say, what a great Bass. Really well made (as any other MIA or Jap Bass I have seen) plus the tones and look of a vintage Jazz, just with a decent bridge and straight neck. What more can one say...excellent.... The finish is superb, actually much thicker than I was led to believe. I bought it blind so it was a bit of a risk, only having played and saw one in Hereford and was impressed at that. Will post some pics and if there is a demand will post a short review. Thanks again to all.....
Good choice! Look forward to reading the review.
 15. I've played a couple of Jaguars, and personally didn't like them. I really struggled to find a sound I liked. I would go for the Jazz. If you want actives, you can always fit something like an Audere or John East pre-amp. I've got the Audere in mine, and love it. Classic Jazz tones, but with a bit more punch when needed.
 16. Great work. I love that paint job!
 17.
Ibanez have pretty tight spacing - check out an SR505. The 'Fenders' as it were (Precision / Jazz / Stingray) will have fairly wide spacing in comparison.
+1 on the Ibanez SR505. Very slim neck (too slim for me!), and very nice pickups and electronics for the money.
 18. I think you've got some good choices on your list. The Warwicks and Ibanez are nice. I've got the 5 string ATK at the moment. Very nice, but isn't the actual pickup configuration you're looking for. If you can find one, I would also try an Ibanez RD905FM. I don't think Ibanez make them any more, but I used to have the 4 string version. HS configuration, mahogany with flamed top, SD Basslines pickups - they crop up on ebay from time to time, and are excellent basses.
 19.
Yeah. Looks like a Squier Bronco, thats been resprayed with a badass ii bass bridge and other electronics/pickups.
Yep - looks like SD Basslines Jazz pickups and and a three way switch added. The pickups will have cost twice what the bass cost! Looks quite cool though.
 20.
[quote name='Josh' date='May 15 2008, 06:37 PM' post='199811' Unfortunatley for me my experience with the bass wasn't the best, after the initial reaction of it being my first Warwick I soon found that it didn't have that trademark Warwick Growl which was what I was hoping for, I also couldn't get on with the pick up placement, I play prodominantly on the bridge pick up and on the $$ the bridge P'up is actually a considerable distance away from the bridge as opposed to my Thumb, which is also essential to the tone. I changed the action many times but couldn't get it anywhere near comfortable. And in the end I just found the all the tones available were pretty bland and really didn't stand out well in a mix and I was left puzzled to why they are seen as such an amazing bass. +1 i didn't like mine at all,in fact i would have been better buying a corvette std.
I guess it goes to show that you need to try a bass out to check it suits your style of playing, music, band and the rest of your set up. Coincidentally, due to my POD failing on me, I ended up playing my $$ straight into my amp at our gig last night - no pedals, effects or compression. The nicest live sound I've had in ages!
 21.
+1 on what has been said about buying a 70's Fender unplayed, although it is a lovely looking bass! Very Paul Simonon.
+2 on 70s Fenders. Very pretty bass all the same. White with pearl blocks really does look good. Didn't Simonon play a Precision though?
 22.
hi all anyone any experience with this model . opinions good or bad welcome .does it stand out or flop ?
They're very good. Extremely versatile with coil tapping and active/passive options. I find mine very comfortable to play, but you do need to try out the Warwick necks. Some people love them, others can't get on with them at all.
Anyone got one? What's it like? I want to try owning a 5 string but don't want to spend a fortune and I've heard good things about the four stringers (and the pics of the all black jap version are gorgeous). I could go down to GAK and try one but the ex-wife lives within spitting distance so I don;t like going down there unless I have to.
Yes - I bought one a couple of months ago. I really like it. Nice playable neck, and a bit of a Stingray vibe to the sound. Bloody heavy though!
 24.
The logo was probably applied by the same person that did Marcus Miller's. His CIJ sig basses also copy the logo placement of his '77 which looks just like that.
I thought exactly the same when I saw the picture - Marcus Miller's Jazz has the logo in exactly the same position. Just goes to show how inconsistent Fender were in the 70s!
