1. I love that Marcus Miller - very nice in white
 2.
Twas me
Nice one! Glad someone bought it as I was getting very tempted!
 3.
I had a 1964 Fender Jazz Closet Racist but I sold it back to Rich. It was a lovely bass
I trust it was MIA?!
 4. Fantastic spec. Looking forward to seeing pics this!
 5. I've no strong views on any of this - I've owned MIA, MIJ, MIM and Squier (and even Warwick!). I bought each because I liked them, rather than where they were made. But I do want to thank BBC and XB26354 for keeping me entertained on an otherwise boring Thursday afternoon!
 6.
Im not the most knowledgable when it comes to jazz, but can someone recommend some easy, laid back dinner jazz for a set of around 45 minutes?
You could play your normal set, but with each of you in a different key. That should sound like Jazz.....
 7.
I didnt think the $$ was that heavy...maybe I was just wearing my rose tinted glasses when I tried it and was overcome with GAS...
I don't think they are! As mentioned above, mine is lighter than my alder bodied Jazz.
 8.
Are the Corvette Standard and $$ as heavy, and uncomfortable as what a lot of people say? With a nice wide comfy strap i find it hard to believe any bass can get "heavy" over your average gig set.
Mine is heavier than my Precision, but lighter than my Jazz. I would say they're very comfortable - more comfortable than the typical Fender shape as it seems to fit the body. What is ''comfortable'' is very much a personal thing though, so you would really need to try one.
 9.
...was going to get an '08 American Standard Jazz, just thought I'd try a Warwick (a Corvette Passive/Active) and was convinced...then tried a $$ and was blown away!
Definately a good choice. I've got a US Standard Jazz which is very nice, but the $$ does Jazz sounds plus a lot more. Mine has become my main gigging bass. And as for waxing, I wouldn't let that put you off. With hindsight, I would have gone for the natural ash - I suspect I would rather enjoy waxing it every month or two!
 10. Great basses! I've got one in Nirvana Black, which looks great, but as you say is pretty common. I think the natural ash looks great.
 11. Very nice bass, and a cracking price!
 12.
hey simon, yes sure i accpet paypal and for 34 it will be yours. if you wire the money it will be 32.50. Im very new to these chat sites and stuff and havent got a bloody clue what PM is??? Help me and if youre interested pleae send the address and all the rest.
Yep - as Kev says, PM is private message. You should have received a message from me saying I was interested - presumably you did as you've replied in the thread! You can reply by opening the PM (as Kev has described) then simply reply as you would an email. Saves posting lots of negotiations in the main thread! Anyway - deal done on the ODB3. I'll PM the delivery address!
 13. For pickups, I would have a look at the Delano hybrids that Jon uses on some basses (which are going to be fitted on the singlecut he is making for me!). MM J configuration when active, J J when passive. Excellent sound. When I was last at Jon's he had a bass in stock with those fitted, so worth a try when you're there. The good thing is that Jon will talk through all the options with you, and you'll come up with a spec that really reflects what you want. I think I've seen that Wenge Paduak neck - its stunning! Enjoy your visit!
 14.
My new advert: Fancy Red Controversial P-bass with loads of bits added....Free to good home. Small donation of £422 required.
It certainly wins the Basschat ''most controversial bass award''!
 15. Great thread! I've owned various Fender, Warwick, Musicman, and Ibanez basses over the years, but the one bass which simply feels right is my 70s reissue Precision. Vintage white, black guard, rosewood neck - very Sid Vicious. Its not the best made bass I own, and certainly not the most versatile, but it just feels and sounds right. And it looks cool!
 16.
Just wondering..... I'd like to fit one of those big 70's style Fender Jazz Bridge covers on my 'parts' jazz but I know it won't fit over the Badass II that I have.... Anyone know/have experience of which bridges will accept the cover (apart from the standard Fender jazz bridge)? I was thinking Badass III or maybe Gotoh?
The cover will (just) fit over a Gotoh 201. Had both on my Precision for a while. Edit - just noticed you're referring to a Jazz, so ignore my previous comment!
 17.
hmmm, are those round marks by the bridge due to holes being filled in and sprayed over, perhaps? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting
Could well be - so is the finish original?!
 18.
I think it might just be that the mirror plate's screwholes don't line up properly with the holes in the body-
Yes - I thought that but there should still be holes for the bridge ashtray shouldn't there?
 19.
the bass he links to at vintage & rare has a black plate, not mirror!
I'm not 100% sure, but wouldn't a 76 Precision have screw holes where the ashtray pickup covers were originally fitted? This doesn't seem to have them (there are holes in the pickguard but it looks like the white finish underneath).
 20.
I'm going to give the OLP a go the reason i asked is because i have been offered one for £80 from what your saying i might as well take it. Thanks for all your help I might try out the ATK a bit further down the line.
I'd say £80 was a good price for the OLP. You'll do well to find a better bass for that sort of money.
 21.
Any idea anyone if this 1973 Pbass neck will fit a 2002 MIA Pbass. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FENDER-PRECISION-197...p3286.m14.l1318
I think Fender neck sockets have been pretty much consistent size over the years, so it should fit. That having been said, some 70s Fender necks don't fit 70s bodies that well!
 22.
+1 The last basses the OLP factory pumped out were easily the best, go for an OLP MM22, much prettier, active, double humbucker, the bridges are the correct size so it even looks like a current ray bridge, the headstocks look a bit goofier, but that's the one to go for. Also i tried Iwtait's dad's ibby ATK and it did sound very nice and stingrayish, i'd reccommend giving one a go.
Pleased to see my ATK getting a mention! In terms of quality feel, you can't beat a 'ray. That having been said, OLPs are very nice for the money, and are the best of the Stingray copies I've tried. But as others have said, the ATK gets very close to the Stingray sound and vibe without being a straight copy. I'd give the OLP and ATK a try.
 23. The SR500 is a cracking bass for the money. Great pickups and pre-amp, and very comfortable to play. If you liked the feel of the one you tried, I wouldn't hesitate to go for it.
 24. I've just picked up one of these for £49.00 at PMT in Birmingham. Can't really go wrong at that price!
