1. Blimey - Can't believe you're parting with that. You really have taken to the old Warwick!
 2.
any pics with the white scratchplate? i imagine it looks even better!
No! The tort looks fantastic! Fantastic looking bass - have a bump on me!
 3.
You missunderstood me, I meant that it would be a case for Trades Descriptions had they deliberately mispriced the bass..... Bloody ambulance chasers
Just re-read your post, and you're absolutely right, I hadn't read it properly. Humble apologies Actually, I'm not one of the ambulance chasers - but I do spend all day defending their claims!
 4.
Mellowship Slinky in Major B - RHCP. Soul to squeeze - RHCP 2 songs to that make me smile more then anything. Oh... and dont forget the Super Mario Theme, that always makes me smile. Oh and inspector Gadget theme!
I was about to post Soul to Squeeze - glad I read the thread first! She Bangs the Drums (Stone Roses) is a fun one as well.
 5.
I LOVE plectrum bass. Rex Brown, Izzy Stradlin, Jason Newsted...
Izzy's a guitarist isn't he?!
 6.
I'd always understood that what I posted was right enough (or I wouldn't have posted it!). I have the resources at hand at work to check for sure.
Boring five minutes at work, so I decided to look at the Trading Standards web site here: http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/advice/...hgoods-sum3.cfm They say: The buyer cannot insist that a trader sells anything at the marked price, whether or not the trader has made a mistake. However, action can be taken against the trader for giving a misleading price indication. A number of unfair pricing practices are banned
 7.
Not true im afraid. If they price it incorrectly you cant force them to sell it to you at the lower price. The precision had a Jaguar price ticket on which is different to being deliberately misleading, in which case its a case for Trading Standards.
That's wrong I'm afraid. The contract for sale (and therefore the obligation to sell) isn't concluded until the seller agrees to sell at that price (eg by accepting the cash at the till). As previously posted, until then its an invitation to treat - advertising goods at a particular price is not the same as a formal contractual offer to sell at that price. This was established 50+ years ago in a case called Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain v Boots Cash Chemists Ltd. A while since I did any contract law, but as far as I'm aware its still the case. Mispricing may result an offence committed under the Trade Descriptions legislation, but that doesn't mean there's an obligation to sell at the marked price.
 8. +1 to Sandberg, but I'm surprised there's no mention of Jon Shuker yet. Veils - Bassdirect are advertising Clovers here: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...Bassdirect.html
 9.
Thanks all. Looks like the extra cab really is the only way to get more power!!
I use the Jeff Berlin and love it, but for the reasons others have said, I also use a 2x10 cab for the extra power
 10.
luke was telling me you got a rick, but i didn't think it would be that nice!!!! if it was me, i'd get rid of that pickup cover and put in a black pickguardian, perfect! Has anyone ever told you you're really good at taking photos? how do you do it? i can never get enough light
Cheers Sam! The photos were taken with a Canon Digital camera but using a decent bounce flash rather than direct flash. Not quite in Lysdexia's league I'm afraid!
 11. With thanks again to Clarky for posting the ebay link here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=53133&hl= here's some pics of my newly acquired Rickenbacker. I've been gasing for one for a while, and this was too nice to miss
 12. Very nice. I really like Sandberg's relics - much nicer than the Fender relics. Cracking basses too.
 13.
aha nordy sounds better.... Baxendall filter? where do they get these names from? I would love to get a 2 band but with the versatility of a mid band which according to the John Easts website doesnt change the response of bass and treble when fiddled. So nordy and a John East is what Im sensing here..... 300 quid investment. One day.
I actually have a Nordstrand pickup and a John East Stingray pre-amp sitting at home waiting to be fitted to my 'ray. I'm hoping that its going to keep the Stingray character, but with a bit more in the low mids. I'll report back once its fitted (probably next week!).
 14.
Anyone have any idea what the quality would be like on this neck? It says its a Dr. Parts neck.
I can't comment on the bass necks, but I bought a strat neck from the same store last year. Its actually very nice for the money, although it did need a bit of sanding to fit the neck socket on a squire body.
 15.
So, is this somebody in China simply "borrowing" somebody else's advert hoping somebody will send some money to them? Hmmm?
yes!
 16.
Just spotted this: http://www.tootoomart.com/product-1883991-...paign=tt_090525 What do the Fender experts think? Is it real? Steve
The bass is real - but the bloke trying to sell it doesn't own it!
 17. Levinson Blade
 18. Never had that problem with mine. In fact its been completely reliable. Think you were probably unlucky there. The sounds are great, and I'd definately get another.
 19.
One on eBay currently comes close http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=53157
Thanks for posting that Clarky. I've been gassing for a black ric since playing KevB's at the Nottingham bash, and have just got the winning bid on this one! Just got to arrange the trip down to the South Coast to pick it up - bit of a trek, but can't wait!
 20.
I may be wrong, but I would think that a frown is equally as bad as a smile because you've boosted and cut to a visual pattern and not what is sonically required. I would start with everything flat and boost what I needed to boost and cut what I needed to cut depending on the room.
Agreed - I'd start flat then boost or cut until you get the sound you're after. What you require will depend on your bass. With my Stingray I tend to boost the low mids, otherwise I get a scooped sound which sounds fine practising on my own, but gets lost in a live mix. With the Thumb, completely the opposite is true - its all mids and needs taming some of the time.
 21.
I think the Kaiser Chiefs bass is a fairly new development, and certainly more relevant to people who buy the Star than JJ Burnel I should think.
Not for those us above a certain age, I fear!!
 22. Blimey - don't see many of those around! I can't possibly justify buying it, but have a bump for a very nice bass!
 23.
All I can say is wow - it's totally transformed my SX, which I thought sounded pretty good before!! Well worth the cash, and solderless fitting too!!
+1. I fitted one to my old passive Jazz, and loved it. And even I managed to fit it properly, so it has to be straightforward!
 24. I use them on a cheap acoustic that I picked up on ebay. They really suit the acoustic sound, and as you say, give a very passable double bass impression. A nice "thumpy" tone - not versatile, but very distinctive!
 25.
Jon is one of Bass Player's little treasures that deserves to be 'out there'
+1. Particularly pleased to see Jon say "I don't want to devalue the brand by going mass market, Making high quality bass guitars is what I started doing and that's what I want to continue to do." Amen to that!
