2.
Thanks! I was impressed with the Streamliner too, but the Shuttle suited my tastes better.
I'd love to hear my shuttlemax 9.2 through one of those cabs. Cheers Thebassman
 3.
to the top.............
Wow this bass is nearly my "day of birth" bass. 6 days out. Cheers Thebassman
 4.
Knobbage I am not a big fan of a million knobs, but I can deal with the amount of knobs in the Shuttle, they seem pretty reasonable and intuitive. No "Kosmos" or "Grunt" labelled knobs
Also, just because you have all the tonal options, it Doesn't mean you have to twiddle with them constantly. I used them to find my sound, now I just use the volume knob, unless the room has really weird acoustics. Cheers Thebassman
 5. I tried a streamliner 600 but ended up getting the shuttlemax 9.2. The streamliner was very smooth, but a bit wooly. This might have been my speaker/ bass setup though. I much prefer the FET channel on the shuttlemax, not that keen on the valve channel. The shuttle has only got the valve option. The FET is very clear and precise, seemed to work much better in a band mix. I went for the 9.2 over the 12.2 as I only ever use one cab. If you use 2 cabs then the 12.2 with the 2 600 watt amps may be a better option for you. Cheers Thebassman
 6.
Well, according to GB the sizes are: H= 3.5" W= 13.5" D= 13" 3.5" high is 2U. So, your rack ears need to be 2U tall, approx 4" deep (guestimate based on fan position in photo) and the front faces need to be 2.75" to the bolt holes (so call it 3"). If you can't get ready made ones then just buy a cheap 2U blanking plate, cut it in half, bend at the appropriate point, drill the holes to match the coldserts on the side of the amp, trim off any excess side length (so you don't block the fan port) and enjoy.
Thanks for all the info. I might just do that, I did a homemade job on a rack mount a few years back for one of the Boss half rack effects units. It always looked a but wonky though :-) I might also draw it up at work on autocad and get my friendly sheet metal fab shop to make it for me. Cheers Thebassman
 7. Well I'm kicking myself for not buying a rack mount kit from GAK a while back for my shuttlemax 9.2. Has anyone got one they want to get rid of? Or could you take some dimensions so I can get one made. Cheers Thebassman
 8.
thanks matey, I'll do just that
Nice one, when you are finished with it, can i have a go
 9.
Right then boys & girls, I'm struggling to find a s/h Orange OBC115 so...how many English pounds is one of these H115 cabs and can I get to try one with my AD200B to see if it does what I'm after?
There are some trial TKS cabs floating around, send WOT a pm. Cheers Thebassman
 10. Wow, thats really nice............... if i hadn't just bought a 25th anniversay.
 11.
As youtube shows; the amp is capable of being played very clean, but if you crank the gain on the valve pre then it can get very dirty.
Hi dave I've got the shuttlemax 9.2 and love it. What settings do you use for the dirty valve sound, I can't seem to dial it in. Pics of your settings would be cool. Cheers Thebassman
 12. Looks very nice, but 21.3kg for a class D seems a bit weighty. It would have to sound out of this world for me to want one. My OTB500 was about 6kg. cheers thebassman
 13.
It'll happily do small/mid sized pubs. I thought that my Gallien amp was struggling a touch at 350 watts into 8ohms but the Shuttle has loads more headroom and the cab seems to like it better. Just had to get over my fear of walloping the volume up! Once you get past halfway, the cab comes alive - the more power you dump into it the better it seems to like it :-) If you like zingy, that mid driver thingy is luvverly too - you can turn it down to taste. For the bigger gigs, I use my Big One too. If you wanted a proper play, you can always book a local studio for an hour or so and have a real blast if you get down my way.
Hi Thanks again for the offer, i might bear that in mind So you sometimes use the BF big one and BB2 together, i bet that is one hell of a sound. cheers thebassman
 14.
I have a Gramma pad and tbh i try not to use it if poss. It definitely takes the rumble out too much for my liking on a normal floor and i only use it in specific circumstances. And it will only raise it an inch anyway.
That's interesting to know about the Gramma. We seem to use similar gear/ covers and venues......... iv'e been having a gander at your facebook page. Can you get away with using the BB2 at most of your gigs on it's own? I play a lot of pub gigs and play loud covers like Foo's, QOTSA, Green day etc, so i am ike to sit fairly high in the mix with a mid/ trebly bass tone. cheers thebassman
 15.
Nope not really. It'll cheerfully take the Shuttle at +50% master volume and fill a medium sized pub. I tried it at one gig sat on top of the Big One (with the Big One unplugged) to raise it up but i found it lost its oomph a bit. Floor coupling definitely works in its favour. It throws a fair bit too - you can feel the air on your flares as much as hear it close up but if you walk into the audience its definitely getting heard. I am just in the process of going thru my first attempt at editing the recording on my Zoom from Saturday nights gig and have found the mix to be really good - on the night i thought i was a bit quiet (actually its a bloody loud drummer too) but it has really come through nicely. The recorder was on a shelf at the back wall of the pub. I could hear myself ok on stage but the outfront mix says it was louder out there. Youre welcome to pop down the M11 for a blast anytime - i am near Bishops Stortford.
Thanks for the reply, and even more so for your offer to let me come down for a blast. Next time I'm down that way, i'll give you a shout. I was wondering if a gramma pad might give it a bit of height, without messing with the floor coupling too much. Cheers Thebassman
 16.
The BF is phatter, rounder, smoother, bigger sounding. HF unit sound very nice. The GK is more boxy and middy. The HF unit is pretty raspy and hard to get sounding good. Remember it was half the price of the BF though. The GK sound louder but not in a good way compared to the BF - its shoutier and very coloured. Whole different sound
Hi mudpup Do you have any problems using just this one cab, as in hearing yourself ok, as it's very small? Do you ever need to put it on a stand? Maybe a stupid question, but I'm looking for a one cab solution. Cheers Thebassman
 17.
OT really, as this was about the 210, but I pondered that same thing with both 112MNT and 212MNT being rated 600W. Don't know the answer, but do know that Marc Vanderkley stated very clearly that between the 112EXT and 112MNT, the EXT is the more detailed cab that will most faithfully reproduce minute changes in the signal. Of course that still doesn't tell how the 212MNT is in comparance. BTW, I have decided on two 112EXTs because of Marc's statement.
Yeah, sorry to go OT. That's interesting, I might have to checkout the website. Cheers Thebassman
 18.
Yes, as far as I know, the 112MNT is half a 212MNT. The 212MNT is apparently split into two separate internal compartments, each with a driver in it It sounds soooo good. RK
Hi RK I don't think it is. What i'm saying is, i think the 112EXT is half a 212MNT. The 112EXT is rated at 300 watt @ 8ohm, the 112MNT is 600 watt @ 8 ohm. I presume the 112MNT must have higher rated driver in it so people can use it as a stand alone cab. I am looking at 2 of the 112EXT's so i can have 600 watts @ 8 ohm's total. cheers thebassman
 19. Hi jay Perhaps i'm being a dumbass, but what's a BF Vintage? Are you talking the '69er based on the Ampeg 810? cheers thebassman
 20.
Can't comment on the 210MNT, but I've just invested in a Vanderkley 212MNT. Absolutely stunning cab. Huge sound, very clear over full range, and loads of definition. My band mates have also noticed a step improvement in sound quality (that the best endorsement of all). And, it is seriously lightweight! thank you please RK
Hmm nice I've been looking at the 212MNT on the bassdirect website. Also been looking into 2 112's. I take it half a 212MNT would be the 112EXT, not the 112MNT............ hope that makes sense. cheers thebassman
 21.
Thanks for that, measuring again it's going to be slightly too big for the cupboard, so no point in spending money. The wife does seem quite receptive to the idea to a smaller cab though.
Looks like you better get a super midget instead. Cheers Thebassman
 22. I tried the Vanderkley 212MNT up at bass direct a while back. It was the best 2x12 i've had the pleasure to play through.............. although i've not had the opportunity to trial a Barefaced offering yet. I played a EB MM classic 4 through a GB Shuttlemax 9.2 and GB Streamliner. The sound was clear, big and transparant. They also look stunning and really well made. cheers thebassman
 23.
What is it with this forum and handles!
You know what it's like, we gotta have something to moan about :-)
 24.
I'm in this camp too, yay ...was considering this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171139721096?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 but not sure i've got the b*ll*x for invasive surgery yet. Great cabs though aren't they
They are great cabs, I love the sound and weight. I might look into getting one of those sack barrows too, looks like a good idea.
