1.
will keep an eye on Gumtree just in case.
Sorry to hear this, will also keep a look on evilbay. They don't come up too often, so not easy to off load without getting noticed. cheers thebassman
 2.
its got alot more bottom end to it, but then i suppose it does have bigger transformers and much bigger tubes. just uploading a little video i did yesterday. andy
Nice one Andy, I'll be looking out for it. cheers Thebassman
 3. Looks great, how does it sound? How does it compare tone wise to your CTM15? Besides the volume of course :-) Cheers thebassman
 4.
Its also why lots of valve amp people tend to collect a number of different power valve amps to suit different volume situations. At least, that's my excuse haha!
Haha, that's always my excuse too. Thanks, that's a good explanation of how the valves work. cheers thebassman
 5.
Bump Can anyone offer up a reliable and safe courier?
Iv'e used Interparcel, UPS, twice recently for sending expensive basses. I do make sure the packaging is very good too. Both have arrived safely, so can recommend them. Cheers Thebassman
 6.
The 30 is essentially the old LB30 in a new housing. It breaks up easily, depending on the valve type and volume you are using.
Is it controllable enough to get break up at home rehearsing volumes? I know that's subjective, depending on how deaf your neighbours are. with the 15, you can get a really dirty tone and still keep the overall volume really low. I've never tried a valve amp with only a master volume, so just curious. Cheers thebassman
 7. Hi ok, so this may have already been covered. So the CTM 15, 100 and 300 all have gain and master volume control. Not on the 30. The CTM 30, 100 and 300 all have a balanced DI out for recording. Not on the 15. Is there a reason for this i'm missing. I have the CTM 15 and love the valve overdrive you get from cranking the gain, you can keep the output quiet by keeping the master volume low. i guess you would have to mic the cab in the studio. Can you get the same valve overdrive from the 30, without having a gain control. I am guessing the output volume would be really loud. Anyone have any ideas? cheers thebassman
 8.
Hi all As the guy who built this bass i would like to offer the new owner a complimentary setup to their preference Good luck with the sale Cheers Chris
Thanks for the kind offer Chris. 9.
They are busy as they are at Bass Player Live in LA. Mark normally replies to all emails but is over the pond. Try calling them in Monday. Somebody should be able to help
Thanks for the heads up, i thought something must be going on.

 11. Thanks guys. i tried email off their website yesterday, but it's one of those where you never know if it's been sent ot not. I will send them a pm. cheers thebassman
 12. I have a few issues with my Ashdown amp and have been trying to contact them today, to no avail. Can anyone recommend the best way to get hold of them? On here, via website email or telephone? Cheers thebassman
 13.
Nice
Yeah, it certainly is a beauty. cheers thebassman
 14.
The best bang for buck 2X12 cab right here IMO
Yeah, i love mine :-) A great 1 cab solution. cheers thebassman
 15. Hi Guys I am selling my Alpher Mako Elite 4 Bass Guitar. It is the best sounding Bass i have ever played, and the playability and quality are second to none. The Bass is in great condition, with zero fret wear. I am only selling, as i have been a 5 string player for the last 10 years, and can't manage to transpose everything i play. I will be putting the money towards saving up for a 5 string version, in this exact specification. I'm looking for £1300 for this. Cash on collection or bank transfer. I would rather sell this as buyer collect, shippers make me nervous. I'm in St Neots/ Cambridgeshire. The details are as follows: 4 String Bass Body wood: Indian Rosewood (2 piece) Neck wood: Wenge (1 piece) Fingerboard: Maccassar Ebony Top wood: AAAAA Grade Claro Walnut Veneer: Maple Hardware: Black Hipshot A bridge, ultralite tuners Pickups 2 x Custom wound Jazz Wizard 64's, 9V Active/ Passive Electronics: 2 band John East Nut: Graphtech The woods on this bass are truly staggering, and feel fantastic to play. The neck is so slim and fast, finished with Tru Oil. It also comes with a really nice Hiscox hard case. Please see pictures below, although it is really hard to capture the true beauty and quality of this instrument. thanks for looking thebassman
 16.
Yep I totally get you and like I said im contradicting myself too as a five string player rather than drop tuning, but I can also see/hear when the flappy E sounds killer, queens of the stone age as mentioned earlier for example.
Must admit Pete I've never tried to play it on a drop C 4 string. I will give it a go. I play qotsa, no one knows on the B string 1st fret and octave on the A string. It sounds pretty epic. It's the only song I ever get a cheer for playing :-). Cheers Thebassman
 17.
What is this drop tuning to access a low D you speak of?
No idea, I just bought a 5 string instead, sorted. Cheers Thebassman
 18. I can deal with, and kind of expect, the tamewasters on here, I think part of it is the GAS people get when they suddenly spot that Bass/ Amp/Effect or anything else they have been hankering for for ages. What really pi*$ed me off a few weeks ago though was the guy who strung me along for a couple of weeks, telling me how trustworthy he was, what great ebay feedback he had. The after taking my address, contact number, bank account and sort code details for an international transfer. Then seemed to disappear back into the shadows. Not sure if i was scammed or he was just a complete waste of space. No goods/ money etc changed hands, just all of my personal details. He was also a long time member on Basschat, so not some fool who only joined yesterday. You live and learn. cheers thebassman
 19.
Little confused on this one, if i got one of those do i need to get a seperate set of speakers for them? As in it's not a combo? Holy hell, no way i can afford those!! £1078 thats way out of range lol http://www.bassdirec...Benz_Max_9.html
Hi David Sorry, should of said, yes it is just a head. You would need a cab to get external sound. For home practice you can use this amp, and I expect quite a few others, without a cab, using headphones and aux in for your backing tracks. This is a 900 watt amp though, but as Stingraypete suggests, you can get a 300 watt version. cheers thebassman
 20.
As you know thebassman I have the same amp, we could literally use it in the spare room as a headphone amp one night and as the main rig at Glastonbury the one after!
That's very true, I can't recommend this amp higly enough. Maybe a bit overkill for the op though :-) Cheers Thebassman
 21. Yeah, agree about the class D suggestion. My shuttlemax 9.2 has a headphone out and Aux in for cd or mp3 players, great for home practicing too. Cheers thebassman
