Unfortunately, such things exacerbate conflict because people end up supporting bands simply because they play a particular 'genre' as defined by some aspiring music journo.
Useful for ego-centric Gumtree adverts though.
WTFF is cinematic metal when it's at home ??
I thought it was when you're watching film of heavy metal bands.................. don't go bursting my bubble now!
For example: http://www.marshallf...tube-arrrr.html
Thanks for the heads-up. Certainly something to seriously consider, Watford Valves, who I think are the ones my tech sources from also say that they test every valve too. I'd like to believe that but I guess the users in your link thought the same of their supplier ......... & also a slight comfort that there's no mention (AFAIK) of KT88s, for what that's worth.
-
That doesn't sound too good; I was at my techs a few weeks ago & he was singing their praises. He also mentioned getting some Chinese ones that were dead straight from the box but he didn't give a name. Might be worth having a word with Watford valves, or see if there was a faulty batch or something. I've never heard of anything like that about JJs.

Anyone ever started a music publishing company?
Big_Stu replied to Bilbo's topic in General Discussion
I'm no IT expert so couldn't tell you if it's possible to modify a digital file's creation date but I would have thought that was a way of possibly proving who made what first. It worked for me once when proving ownership of a design that I made a few years ago - but that was then & it was only the once. -
Saw them do a charity gig at the Robin in Bilston a few years ago. It was a fundraiser for their original drummer (IIRC) who was terminally ill. A wet weekday night & it was a disaster. The second lowest turnout I ever saw for a gig. The band were great though, much of the planned auction was pulled & Bob was buying rounds in for those there at the bar. The gig was rescheduled & the 2nd time around was a huge success, absolutely rammed; I remember one of the items up for grabs was a fully autographed copy of Brothers in Arms. I've got an autographed copy of one of their album's from it somewhere.
Would you advise any particular tube?
I've heard quite a few pro techs recommend JJ - and they certainly have a lot of valve amp users who agree. My Hiwatt is due a revalve & it's JJs for me, to replace GECs.

Could always do what Quo do - and have lights replacing some of the speakers in the cabs. Most of their white Marshall gear is either unplugged or dummy I was told.
Tell me more about this 'crumpet with jam'
Was it just me that heard a filthy Sid James, "crumpet" Carry On type laugh there? Best of luck with the band & the blog. Personally I wouldn't put anything that could be seen as a put-down to anyone I might end up working with, on anything on-line - unless of course you won't ever need one of the "flakey" singers. But that's just an IMHO - the rest is quite fascinating.

With the lanyards you could have done a plug for the site & had an "Access All Areas" pass already in it, ready for any meets. Just make sure it's a Basschat logo complete with a "B" or, as previously highlighted, it could have been really awkward .

The Robots are taking over - Hysteria played by a machine !!

That's the b*gger of keeping up with technology......... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/192638-were-all-out-of-a-job/ it'll never catch on .................. which I believe is what was said about Les Paul's first efforts, the precision bass - and erm The Beatles. -
I'm sure we have all got a mental image of them already.
OK then, what HM nickname have they/will they give themselves that they answer to, instead of their actual given name, what colour are their bandanas, and what "product" do they style their hair with for their transformation from day job to Rockstar ?

Apparently Les Gray, late lead singer with 70's band "Mud" had a skin condition toward the end of his life. Brian Connolly had tremors due to his many health problems around the same time. I was told that they referred to each other as "Flakey" and "Shakey". Not that kind of flakey then?

On the grounds that I'm a luddite/not registered with Paypal/insecure because I've already had my CC a/c hacked once before (perm any one from three) any chance of an address that I can send cash to, via PM, will be appreciated?? Anyone doing so has every chance of getting a free live Slade CD along with the payment, second prize is TWO Slade CDs.

Yes, very definitely! "How to make your electric guitar play great" by Dan Erlewine. So comprehensive you even get a little plastic template with it to check the curvature of your strings to match the fingerboard.

This is the important bit from that link.........
If you just want to find out the nominal impedence of the speaker e.g. ist it 4, 8 or 15 ohms then there is a rough & ready way. Just use your multimeter to measure the DC resistance of the voice coil i.e. across the speaker terminals (with nothing else connected) and multiply the answer by 1.3. So if the DC resistance is say 6 ohms then the speaker is nominally 8 ohm impedance.

If punk, do A Merry Jingle by The Greedies, which were a mixup of The Sex Pistols & Thin Lizzy.
One of the great under-rated Xmas hits, an excellent Xmas gig closer!
I have been a Lizzy fan since 73 saw them twice in the 70's but missed that, thank Christ. how could they Thats upset me now the creds all gone
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, at around the same time this pathetic clutching at straws desperate to hit the charts feeble attempt was made
I hope they don't follow Gibson with the massive failure that is the Firebird X.
I couldn't believe they were serious with the front end of an SG cobbled on to the back end of a Flying V.

In the early 80's Slade's sound engineer Charlie used to use "Turn It On Again" to test the PA once it was all put together & before the band turned up. He reckoned it was the most perfect track he had to cover all the frequencies he needed to. I wrote that in to Rick Wakeman on Planet Rock once, with the closing line "You haven't lived until you've heard "Turn It On Again" at 26,000 watts." Which Rick said was "Quote of the month".
I have to dissagree. Matchsticks are made from boxwood.
Presumably talking about the type used & made for modelling with because most smokers matches aren't. Cocktail sticks have a few advantages; just one being that being round you can fill a hole with several of them, pull out the centre one & have a ready made hole for your screw once the glue's dry.

If you ever get the chance, try out one of the Tokai SG Junior copies that were out about 3-4 years ago. It was highlight of my last ever visit to Music Ground Manchester - and guarantees a cheesy grin without the kidney-valued price tag of an original.

I was sent a page & a half article from the NYT by a friend over there; & was going to offer it up by mail to any Fender fans who may want it, but it turns out it's on their site too for now............. http://www.nytimes.c...gmK30UChdC2IiZw I thought it quite interesting - on the "where do they go from here?" side, even though I'm not a huge Fender fan ......... but do own a Tele.
Any good guitar shops to visit around Blackpool area? Fancy a gander whilst working.
Not in Blackpool itself, there were a couple up behind the north train station; they both closed a few years ago. There is one near the same station (there's two stations) on a side road near Talbot Sq but it's just your usual copies etc. http://www.towermusicblackpool.co.uk/ But if you're prepared to travel a bit, just up the road in Cleveleys is Frets which had a fair few vintage guitars, basses & amps last I was in, but it was over two years ago. 33 Rossall Road, Thornton-Cleveleys, & also Dazamakiz in the same town which is more a supplies & repairs shop on North Drive.

Yup, go along with that; had to do the same job to an SG once & was told by a pro that that was what to do. I used a wooden kebab skewer but I think the one in the OP is a bit too far gone for that. PVA wood glue is the one to use, if you go down the dowel route try to cut a groove down one or two sides of it, it lets excess glue out & reduces the risk of splitting the wood around the hole.
Gibson P-94 http://www.gibson.co...r/Pickups/P-94/
Yeah, I got that thanks - but I would hazard a guess that he wouldn't know what a soap-bar looks like in any other context apart from what he uses to spruce himself up before his pic is taken for his adverts.
