1. Interestingly, I am Dave, and both buyers were called Dave as well, what's in a name?
2. I'm so pleased for you, do post pictures of your relic project MM, we'd all like to see them.
3. Thanks all, not long to go, get you bids in, or you'll miss out... Okay, I know...
4. Horns etc. are much easier to play in Eb and Bb is the point. Lot of Motown is Eb as well. Oh yeah, Stevie is motown.. sorry.
5. Nope, tis for transposing instruments, which are too confusing to go into here. (Well they're quite simple really, but it does my head in after a while) When they play C, out comes a Bb, hoorah! Is essentially the point.
6.
I respect your honesty, HOWEVER, before purchasing you may want to consider what a bitch it would be finding a case for this one.
I don't think it needs a case, wouldn't be that precious about it, just want to stare at it in the small hours of the morning...
7. Most stuff with horns in to be fair.
8.
Ah well maybe it is then. Any idea why there's no decal? I'm positive one's not been removed as the lacquer is deep and even and totally original looking. Having a few 80's basses in my collection my gut feeling is that this is a 70's bass. Did Hondo ship out there 70's basses decal-less and have them added in the US?
Not that I know of. I assumed it had been sanded off (like so many of my old japcraps were) to lose it's provenance. Replacement neck? It could well have been bitsa'd at some point (like so many of my old japcraps were). A lot of old 70s factories had a lot of different wholesalers names, so your shipping without decal theory holds water. Maybe this one was waylaid on the way in by some helpful official looking for a cheap bass?
9. This one's nice too...
10. I quite like that actually
11. I'm with BRX, also I'm not sure who the other one that isn't Steve Harris is either...
12. Hondos are odd, some of them are really nice well made things, others are bits of plywood sh*te, I have had bolt on manky Les Paul copies made of ply, and I at one point had a lovely mahogany set-neck one. Bloody brilliant it was, shame I moved it on. (both had the excellent DI-Marzios though).
13. Maybe, the band I left earlier this year still get me to record their bass lines for them. I feel kind of bad for the new bass player, they could have a little more faith in him surely?
14. The DI-Marzios, if original, would point to the mighty Hondo 2 series, which used Di-Marzios as standard in the early 80s.
15.
I didn't actually call you any name whatsoever. I said you were making a condescending comment, in the same way that a smug little prick would. So I apologise if offence was caused
Ta, none taken.
16. Too tired to apologise for name-calling over a misunderstanding though I see.
17. Do not turn up in a van, or fiddle the knobs on the PA, as they will give you the gig just so you can drive them around and do all the sound for them
18.
I don't think Leo had anything to do with it. In his day it would have been pins - or at least that's what he used at G&L.
Nails, the holes left by them are one of the ways you can spot a proper pre-CBS fender apparently.
19.
I don't like the suggestion that firstly you think that I don't know how to turn off a television and that also you think I'm like some sort of little kid.
Sorry if that's the way it came out, It is a source of constant irking that people moan endlessly about what is on TV, when there is a simple option of not watching it. I was a little taken aback at your planning what time to get up to coincide with the TV admittedly. And the reference to my kids shouldn't upset you, one is 20 and the other's 18. Still my kids though....
20. Well I like fish fingers, but I like dogs as well, but which is best?
21.
He was wrong anyway ,your not little are you Dave?
Ask the Missus (or if we want to be childish about this... no I won't )
22. And there's no need for name calling either my dear chap (patronising enough for you?)
23. There's also a channel switch, there is radio, there are plenty of things that aren't Tv to put in the background. Calm down mate, I just made a wee joke that I make to my step-daughter nearly every day. She seems fine with it, What was I trying to say? Please enlighten me?
24. In mic checks I always like to say,"this is mic no.1 this is mic no.1 isn't this a lot of fun" and look around for fellow Tap fans.
25. Did you know Peds been running round using your name Rich? Unless he suffers the same golfing injury as you do... I still assume that it is pronounced OW! 7- Ironed. And sadly the stamp has rusted off while it was inside a fat gangster paul, honest, it was there though...
