1.
I've resisted posting on this thread, but I reckon it's time for some perspective. I don't really think it's fair to have a go at someone you've never met - granted the image that some people create is less than favourable, but editing has a LOT to do with how people are perceived than you'd think. I now first hand how some unscrupulous journalists can 'paraphrase' you to the extent that within a few short paragraphs you end up having said the opposite to what you meant. Mainstream media love its soundbites too, and you can give an interview comprised of 95% positivity and rainbows and sh*t, but guess which 5% ends up being taken out of context and circulated….
Granted, but not everything's in print - there's televised interviews too. Camera never lies etc.
2. Met that little Huey fella off the Fun Lovin Criminals once. Despite my protestations, I was dragged towards him by the manager of a bar in Cardiff who proceeded to gush about my then band and force an album in to his hand. He could not have been more disinterested/rude if he'd tried & the whole thing was really awkward. Couldn't really judge if he was an all-day-long twat based on that situation, but saw him a fair bit on the telly after that & came to the conclusion that yeah, he's an arrogant cock.
3.
Do you not think Pete Criss is a bit of a one too? I always thought he had the best voice out the lot of them. Ace seems like a nice guy. But it has to be said, you'd have to go a long way to find two monumentally bigger bell-ends than S&S.
Simmons is a detestable bellend. To be fair, PS never really did any bellend-ish stuff unless you think his whole schtick is unbearable. PC & AF got beset by severe alcohol & substance abuse & chaos ensued (I bet their families & loved ones pegged them as twats at various points) but again, no real public nonsense. Simmons is responsible for 99% of the bad image the band gets tarred with. Someone has to stick up for KISS, & that someone is me!
4.
I always had this dilemma with Jamiroquai...... Loved the music though (at least until Stu Zender left).
+1 Ineffable twatism. Love that bit of footage where the paparazzi guy lamped him one XD
5.
Not cheap at £50 but takes 150kg/23 stone so more than sturdy enough even for old school cabs and valve amps and handy for standing on to pin up backdrops etc. http://www.screwfix.com/p/square-hop-up-work-platform-aluminium/38093 It's overkill for the OP I guess but thought it worth mentioning here anyway. There's probably cheaper versions too.
+1 I use one of these every gig for my 210. Folds up tiny & looks great covered in black gaffer.
6. Maceo Parker in Cardiff on the 15th. Never been able to make one before, finally I get to see the great Skeet Curtis up close & personal. Can't bleedin' wait
7. Jaco was undoubtedly a great musician with regards to playing, performing & composing. Sometimes he thrills me, sometimes he bores me. Nothing more to it for me.
8. Watched DD & as ever the hype seemed to outweigh the product. They had some good pop songs back in the day & always liked JT''s bass but for me they've always seemed a bit disingenuous...something a bit cheap about them. Probably Le Bin who comes across as a bit snotty. In recent years they've seemed bent on creating their own legend & as the greatest bands of all time go, they were never really in the club. YMMV & stuff.
9. Another vote for EXL nickels here. Swapped over from Elixir furries a couple of years ago & never use anything else now.
10. Probably not too difficult if you've not got too many commitments outside of music. I'd love to but kids & the 9 to 5 on top of current gigs make it impossible atm. If I was to stumble upon a bunch of guys who wanted to do something really casual on the side of our respective bands & interested me I'd be all over it. But that perfect storm hasn't happened yet
11. Nope, but I always make a point of finding the local music shop/crack converters before I travel & drop in when I start missing my basses too much, pretending to be a genuine customer. Almost always ends up with three small kids & the missus standing around bored sh1tless thinking 'what happened to the beach?' while dad's whacking away on a Squier

13. I hate the thought of gigging. All that driving, lugging gear, hanging around trying not to drink too much (& failing), missing the big game on a Saturday night...then I go on stage & I'm in my element, & it's the best thing in the world again at least until the next morning. Funny innit. I know I'll never give it up while I'm still able to do it tho. I've had periods when I've been up on blocks so to speak - generally a couple of months between bands here & there - & it feels like there's a big part of my life missing. Eurgh.
14. Been a fiver for 15 or so years now. I like the extended range. Like someone else said, I know the feeling of picking up a 4 & feeling like something's missing. Got to the point where I'd pick one up & honestly wouldn't know what to do with it! So I got myself a 4 banger & now I'm happy going between the two. Can't be doing with none of that low B nonsense tho! Just can't get on with it. It's high B for me. Yup, high B.
15. Nearly Dan are fantastic. Better than the real thing these days i.e. they don't play everything at 2mph & the lead vox ain't shot to bits. Unfortunately tho they haven't been down this neck of the woods for a while
16. Can't complain about the RWC this year. All the gigs we've had have had their start times moved to 9.30 for the big games, including a wedding for the Eng Wales game. Win win for me as a massive egg fan

18.
Ha ha, I wouldn't worry about it mate, you're amongst friends and perhaps it's good to air these things occasionally, it;s all swings and roundabouts with bass gear anyway Like I said above, no rights or wrongs, just different values, and like tastes, there's no accounting for them! Enjoy the bass C
Nice one 😊
19. Maybe I should have just made this a poll after all...
20. Not whining mate. I laid out a situation, people chipped in, some made assumptions, naturally I tried to clear them up. It's a discussion forum ain't it? I said some way back I'll get over it. Cheers
21. & if anyone's got the time & inclination to get all Columbo & put the pieces together...well I wish I had as much spare time on my hands. You his mate or something?
