I feel like someone should stick up for the OP a little bit here...... I'm guessing the design and prototyping of the Amp will be accompanied with a report/dissertation, half of the experience is finding the issues. This isn't a highly polished concept with sleek marketing and a huge R&D budget, this is someone trying to think outside the box (no pun intended), and do a project with some substance for university. A bit of open mindedness would help from everyone, he isn't going to harm anyone! (insert back related joke)

[/quote] This^ Suggesting photoshop/illustrator for someone who has no design experience is a bit crazy, as red said its a tool. A better use of money would be to get a designer to do it. Or use free software to get by if you don't want to spend any money. The templates idea is good for beginners.

You could look at an option to dim the lights? My trace (newer one) had a knob to control the brightness of the mood lights. I know there was an above suggestion to change the plexi colour, I'd be inclined to say go all or nothing with the idea. Its good to challenge peoples perceptions of what an amp should look like, its what keeps product interesting. The reality is this isn't going to be aimed at the masses, but the chances are if musicians will buy transparent guitars, drum kits and pianos; this has a chance of developing into something cool. I'd also echo others sentiments of keeping the range tight, too much choice is often as big of a problem as not enough.

The band I am in takes a lot of time and money on appearance and image. Some might say its trying too hard, dare say those people dress pretty badly. Fashion is important, you will be judged on what you are wearing. be wary would be my advice, especially before parting with any cash. In terms of finding companies, maybe look at bands you like and check their management companies out. Showing a bit of willing can go a long way. We were managed by a pretty high profile company for a few years; we sent them a demo, they came to see us play and hey presto. No money changed hands, just an agreement of a cut if we were to get signed. Another lesson learnt would be to look at what you need; is it marketing help, help to get gigs or support slots, help to get recordings done etc. Different managers have different skill sets. You touched on it in your original post that you need someone who believes in you, that is absolutely essential!

Clothes are a divisive subject I think. A lot of people profess not to care about appearance and clothing, but IME they tend to be the most stubborn. Without being too controversial; I rarely see an unsigned band and think they are "fashionable" or "trendy". My thoughts obviously!

Dat 77, Dayum! Even with the tone off you can hear the snarl desperate to get out. USA shades it over the MIJ and the MIM for me. Slap sounds amazing on the MIJ which surprised me as it didn't do a lot for me in the rest of the video.

I'm in the middle of making one for my rh210. Thick canvas for outside and lining with a wadding layer in the middle for extra padding. Going to bind all the edges, hem and handle holes as well I think. Will get some pics up once complete.
