1.
Put your eyeballs back in their sockets and your tongue back in your mouth. That is not a vintage Fender.
Not that I doubt you for one minute - but why do you say that?
 2.
It occurs to me I don't have a semi...
The purple does that for me...
 3. Well, I used the RH750 last night at rehearsal, and I have to say that I'm not too sure about it! I am a bear of very little brain when it comes to complex set-ups (which is the main reason I got rid of my Marcus Miller J bass - as I was constantly fiddling with the East preamp on it!). The TC certainly has some amazing sounds available, and the features are a big plus - to someone who needs them. I'm not sure I do. I prefer a decent core tone and I don't tend to alter my setting very much from song-to-song or room-to-room. I tend not to use (or really need) compression and the tubetone feature is pretty superfluous as I favour a clean but warm sound. For this current band, anyway. After three hours of fiddling last night I still hadn't settled on a sound from the RH750 that made me smile. I realise it might require more time than that, but I just so wanted it to sound great out of the box! So, my search may continue...
 4.
I need something that I can use in a rackcase.
Such as? What do you have in mind? Would a trade possibly interest you?
 5.
Again........ the RH750 can run at 2.67 ohms. There is no magic. That's how it powers 3 8 ohm cabs. http://cdn-downloads..._management.pdf Go to page 7 the Min. Load is 2.66R
Maybe - but I've just bought a RH750 and the manual states very clearly that it will only run three TC cabs. If using any other manufacturer's cabinets the minimum load is 4 ohms.
 6.
There could be so many issues with that bass that just aren't known before you get it in your hands. There could also be good reason why there is not much detail attached to the ad. ...a bass that has question marks over it.
True - but occasionally you get a seller that genuinely knows nothing about what they are trying to sell. The bass looks nice, but yes there could be all sorts of unseen problems. Still, one sometimes has to take a chance in life!
 7.
A Fender pickguard that is that old and has shrunk that much probably wouldn't be such a brilliant white.
Yes - there is that!
 8.
I've got the 12 Ohm one and, I'm just about to order a 4 Ohm one.
Are you planning to run both together? That would give a total load of 3 ohms, and the RH750 is only meant to run at a minimum of 4 ohms... Just so you know!
 9.
Jacob simply reproduce a jazz sound.
Indeed
 10.
The pickguard looks a bit dodgy because of the big gap where it is meant to meet the control plate.
Pickguards on old Fenders do shrink... but that looks to be a pretty extreme example! Still, it's a lovely looking thing and definitely worth £300 or so
 11.
On hold,
Did they sell?
 12. After a frustrating four months, we finally replaced our departed drummer. Fortunately, our new drummer does not play things the same way that the first one did - which is just as well as the main reason we parted company with him is that his style was not compatible with our (mostly original) material. I think drummers are probably the hardest band members to recruit - particularly for us bass players. Our guitarists and singer have already said words to the effect of "he's fitting in well, let's get some gigs booked" despite my warnings that things will get worse before they get better! That's not me being a doom-monger, it's just that following his audition, our new drummer obviously learned the songs as we had recorded them with the old drummer. If we want him to play them in his own style (which we do) then that is going to take time and the rest of the band will then have to reconstruct the songs from the bottom up. This affects the bass player first of course... Still, hopefully it will all be worth it come the summer when we are once again a unit and ready to gig!
 13. I'm rather disappointed by his taste in dogs...
 14. He was a BIT unpredictable... but to call him a GIT is rather unfair...
 15.
Ever started a thread and then thought, 'oops, that didn't work out very well, I'll leave them to it'..??
Several times...
 16.
Would look great in a Daft Punk video, but is not really a practical proposition IMO.
This, I'm afraid. A niche market within a niche market... Looks cool though!
 17.
I have the Squeir vintage modified Jazz and was wondering if the difference was that great.
On paper there should be a noticeable difference.... but in reality some Squiers are better than some Fenders. Judge the individual basses (by playing them) rather than by the range they come from. Just another consequence of Fender's confusing product range and inconsistent QC!
 18. If you like seventies style Fenders, but with the addition of a 'reasonable' pre-amp - then yes they are decent basses. I've not played one of the newer MIM versions, but the previous CIJ model was very good. They can be heavy. Maybe have a look at one of the new Sire Marcus Miller basses? Much cheaper... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252854-new-cheap-marcus-miller-endorsed-range-of-basses-sire/page__hl__sire
 19.
For me, that gives perspective to the rampant GAS fascination so often seen around these parts...the name on the headstock is of no relevance, it's the name playing it that counts.
Indeed. But who wants to hear that?
 20.
Thanks for all the comments - i reckon I'll be ordering the neck pickup sometime soon & wait til the bridge one is back in stock
Could be a while... I e-mailed them a couple of weeks ago as I wanted a set of J pickups and they haven't even scheduled a date to make the bridge pickups yet - never mind get them out into the marketplace As I'm impatient I might have to go for a set of the non-Nd models Edit: Bugger - just checked and the JBX bridge versions are also out of stock!
 21. Having just bought an amp with a built-in compressor (TC RH750) I look forward to experimenting with it. I have never used compression before (except for about 30 years ago on an old Peavey mk 3 - but I'm not sure that really counts...)
 22. Well in the end I was offered a deal on an amp that was just too good to miss... So I am now the proud owner of a (slightly) used TC RH750! The amp is at home but unfortunately my cab is down at the rehearsal room - so wednesday's band practice will be the first opportunity I get to try the beast out. Should be fun! Thanks to everyone who contributed and gave advice. Much appreciated
 23. Just bought a Fender gigbag from Cliff. Utterly painless and smooth deal with quick and clear communications. Bag arrived exactly as described, brilliantly packaged and very quickly! Highly recommended!
 24.
It was SO gonna buy one of these. But bottled it at the last minute and bought a J&D Jazz instead to make myself feel better
Which are also great basses at a silly price! You just can't go wrong with some of these...
 25. So are these "old" Wizard of the new Hot Rod incarnation?
