1. Roqsolid plus laptop bag for me (well, for my cab and amp anyway!).
 2.
OK, the summary of my opinion is, get the right tools for the job. Get the best you can afford and practice. What's unfair about that?
Did you read my post above? Not everyone has the time to devote to lots of practise and not everyone can afford to buy a five string bass. It is generally agreed that a decent fiver is significantly more expensive than a decent four. I have been down this route several times myself - buying five string basses of differing qualities and practising with them to try to get to grips with them until I'm happy and confident using them. Despite several attempts I have still not reached that stage and I've ended up selling every fiver I've owned. With a (more than) full-time job, a family (including three kids) and other commitments; bass playing is not as high a priority for me as it clearly is with other members on here. That's not a criticism, just a simple observation. If I found myself needing notes lower than E or maybe Eb, I'd consider stringing one of my J basses (or maybe my Status) BEAD. That bass would still (IMO) be the "right tool for the job"
 3.
I don't see the point of BEAD. Surely everyone needs to play notes on the G string? As solutions go it seems like a bodge to get around having to do the work required to play a 5 string. If you want to add a B string to your current instrument just bite the bullet and get a 5 string bass and deal with the fact that is is a different instrument and will require an amount of practice to feel comfortable.
That's a bit unfair to those of us who 1). Can't afford another decent quality bass (and cheap five strings are often not a wise investment) or 2). don't have the time required to "re-learn" playing the bass. I see the use of BEAD as a sensible compromise for those of us with limited resources (time, money, dedication... ).
 4. Sorry, but to my ears that was horrible. Tone was OK, but the timing (on the solo) was sloppy... Shame, as the rest of the track is fine!
 5. I'm still in a band and we still gig on an irregular basis (only four gigs last year but then we lost our drummer!). Over the years, family and work commitments have increased and I couldn't justify gigging 30-40 times a year any more. I also couldn't be bothered! Due to those same family and work commitments, I also have to choose between playing cricket in the summer and playing in a band. At the moment its fine, but I miss my cricket now and it is starting to affect my health and fitness adversely.... The sacrifices I make for rock and roll!
 6.
I love my LH!!
They are great amps! Don't get me wrong, I used mine for five years with no complaints or problems. But I increasingly find myself playing J basses, and using them with both pickups on full. That sucks the mids out of my tone, and with the LH tonestack there seemed to be no way to add them back. So I sold it!
 7. I can't see from the photo - but are these "waisted" or straight-sided?
 8.
I'm quite tempted by the bareface compact but suspect I'd be needing another one pretty soon.
One BF Compact can go seriously loud (and clear). Two would be over the top in most situations. Don't judge its volume capabilities on the fact that it is a 1x15!
 9.
That should have the updated knobs on then, so no issues.
Cool. Because I do give my knob a good tug now and again...
 10. This bass is three months older than me (or at least the neck is...) Has this one been for sale on here before? Looks familiar and I'm sure I drooled over it last time...
 11.
You might like to read my ramblings (post 375) here: http://basschat.co.u...60#entry2704858
The old TKS H115 is an awesome cab. Very similar in size, weight and tone to my Barefaced Big One. JD1, who is a member on here, has one and told me last week that he might be looking to sell it sometime soon - might be worth a speculative PM...
 12.
see if the bass base will do you a trade in for the aguilar? he seemed to be open to trades when i spoke to him.
I like your thinking! Trade in progress (but not with The Bass Base...).
You might want to consider an MB LMIII (just over £400 new).
For some reason Markbass have never appealed to me or appeared on my radar. Dunno why - my loss I suppose. Anyway - looks like I am probably sorted now! ANAD (Another New Amp Day) tomorrow...
 13.
I think the later ones have better quality knobs, so if yours is a newer one you should be fine.
It's new to me, but was bought new a year ago...
 14. <Cough>.... *Barefaced*
 15.
It was recently discovered that the necks on these are, in fact made from asbestos so sadly the value has plummeted and in some areas you will have to pay the council to take it away.
Fortunately I am qualified to handle SHUNA materials and will deal with the problem if the OP sends me his bass by overnight insured courier - especially if its a blue one. PM me for my address. Only too happy to be of assistance
 16.
My clamour was purely because this came along at the right time, for the right price. Ive been longing for a 5 string Jazz, at a low price, that didnt have large frets, and wasnt the Squier VM. When i saw what Sire was offering it seemed like the planets had all aligned and was too good to miss.
I don't think you have to justify your decision. They look like decent mid-range basses, made up to a quality rather than down to a price. I haven't played one mind, and as I own four J basses already it's unlikely I'll want/need one - but I can totally see where the interest in these basses is coming from!
 17.
Have you heard the Louis Johnson version? I think its on Broad street
I have now! Doesn't sound that much different to the original to my ears... Do you mean this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN6lWjN0ups
 18.
Why do you want to do this...? Any amp should get you there..???
You haven't played a Hartke LH amp, have you? They are a mid-range desert... (as opposed to a mid-range dessert, which would be something like a Sticky Toffee pudding ).
 19. Maybe they've called the meeting in order to sack the bass player? I've heard he's a bit of a trouble-maker... I take it that the meeting is not at the rehearsal venue, and therefore does not involve a two hour round trip? That just seems crazy to me, unless you live somewhere really isolated. Something is clearly not quite right - otherwise you wouldn't be on here posting threads about it!
 20.
I think your best bet, assuming you want only a 1x15" cab, is the now discontinued 1x15 Barefaced Compact. You should be able to pick one up at around £350 to £400 - worth every penny.
Good call. Quite a few used ones on here in the last few weeks... Out of interest - why narrow your options by only looking at/for 1x15s?
 21.
Silly love songs.
Yep!
 22. Depends what you mean by "low mids". What is the frequency at which your amp's controls boost "mids"? Unless the midrange is sweepable or selectable (like in the TC RH amps) then you are stuck with whatever the amp's designers/manufacturers decided was an appropriate midrange frequency. You could always invest in a cheap graphic EQ pedal like the Behringer, or fit an East onboard preamp which features sweepable mids.
 23.
I have no other interests other playing bass guitar and singing in a rock and roll band.
Yes - I believe you've mentioned that once or twice... To the OP: Keep anything you're attached to. It can be nigh on impossible to get it back afterwards... But other than that, as RhysP says - it's just gear. Buying decent gear is really cheap at the moment - which also makes it a bad time to be selling stuff.. If you need the space, sell. Otherwise put it away, lend it to someone else, hang it on the wall....
 24.
I'm not a huge fan of tc to be honest. I found the GK Fusion to be warm, huge and difficult to get a bad sound from. Spring for a bit more cash and get one! If you don't like it, I'll take it off your hands!
Heh heh! There is a method in your madness after all! I have another cunning plan up my sleeve...
 25.
Jennie, send a quick email to TC support. They have some new redesigned ones that fit better and are more solid. They'll send you some for free and theyll arrive in double time in my experience.
That's excellent customer service! I haven't noticed this problem on my RH750 yet (but I've only had it less than a week!). I'll keep a eye open for my knobs dropping off now...
