If I'd know that I would have hand delivered it ! ...just how sunny and warm does it get in Falkirk?

Eh... hmm.... Not sure how to answer that one. I could be funny and just say "very", but I don't want you to waste your hard earned money on a trip to "warm, sunny Falkirk", because it doesn't exist
EXCUSE ME!!!! I'll have you know it's only slightly overcast here today, honest. On the basis that I'll be receiving it tomorrow and it going back say on 6/7th July - with it being used on 23rd and 5th July- there is the possibilty of it being used /handed over and then back again whilst on it's holidays. Any one interested let me know. It'll be back up at some point though

It's taking the scenic route!

I've spoken to Dale - what a great bloke! He's going to send me his details and should be able to get it picked up asap- it's waiting and ready to go!! I'd like to use the emergency situation card if at all possible!! edit - the cut and paste didn't work for me - maybe I'm breaching some work protocol!!!

Right!! Let's Rock!! On or around the 23 June I have arranged for John "Rhino" Edwards of Status Quo to get involved in some shape or form when the Quo play Falkirk Stadium . I therefore need to get the bass & gubbins (T shirt, collection pots . log book etc)up here pronto. Or I am going to feel like a complete diddy, and be disappointed I've sent a message to Dale at BB Blackdog as suggested , but see he hasn't been online since 15 May- if there's a quicker/more direct way to get it moving I'd be grateful for any assistance. I'd guess I'll be able to get at least local press coverage. Rhino kindly asked whether to get all of Status Quo to sign the bass, but as it's a bass thing I'm not sure about it. If we could get a pic with the rest of the band , or something supporting it that could raise the profile somewhat.Any thoughts? After that I have a gig on 5 July in Kirkintilloch ( thanks Gezzaboy) , and I could use it then before sending it back down if that suits?

Thought I'd better enlighten myself - Thanks Wikipedia "An oxymoron (plural oxymora or oxymorons) (from Greek ὀξύμωρον, "sharp dull") is a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms. Oxymora appear in a variety of contexts, including inadvertent errors such as ground pilot and literary oxymorons crafted to reveal a paradox." Ah,that's better.

but did you think he was any good before it dropped?

Let's hope it happens - I'm still in negotiations!!! If it doesn't I'm going to feel like a Fanny Again

If it did go ahead it would raise its status and I could send it back down again so it can make it's way back up! Or something....
ok by me ...as long as it comes back to Derbyshire at some stage so that I can get my "go" on the purple princess ! BTW when is the "special' occasion - here I am thinking if its after this weekend then I may be done anyway (..hoping that Dale at BB Blackdog will have finished and I can pick her up in the next couple of days )? Dale ...you out there?
If it came off it'd be Sunday 23 June here in Falkirk. I should know fairly soon whether it's a goer or not. Hope so as it'd be a blast and help raise interest .
-
Would it be against the grain if I organised it to be couriered up here if I had a " special" occassion for it?
I hear you and I agree. Without wishing to defend said band however, their attitude has probably been born of playing to disinterested punters for years in pubs.
Then why bother?

Valve Amplifiers Only. No Hybrids / Valve pre-amps..
Donnyboy replied to VTypeV4's topic in Gear Gallery
Here's my Hiwatt PA Custom - I bought it more than 30 years ago and it was used as a PA amp, but also used as my bass amp, and has been used recently after many years of neglect. I only started using it as a bass amp when we moved house a few years ago and rescued it from the back of the garage. I took it to Mark Huss in fife and he quite rightly gave me a polite telling off as it was a fine example of an early '70's valve amp. Although built as a PA amp , it would work perfectly well for guitar or bass- and it does!! It recently got a PAT pass - the electrician was impressed/amused by this antique . -
Not sure whether its the Blue marvel , but its a lot better than the BWidow I had. It's also bigger and maybe heavier , and not good for my back/ car/ stairs. It has to go!

Time - Rod Stewart's new album - I'm hip

I acquired a peavey Pro 115 last Friday , at a bargain price , and at very short notice . I had to have it!! The brother of an Elvis impersonator, currently working in Australia, was, I'm told, selling it on his behalf- why not? I used it on Saturday with my old Hiwatt valve amp & thought it sounded great . However it's a lot bigger than I had thought and it barely fitted in my car . Anyone used them before & got any views, before I decide what to do with it, as there's a danger it'll sit in the garage and not get used!!!
A profound insight into the youthful mindset, with thought-provoking lyrics and emotive music. Plus you can sing 'Sax and Violins' instead and nobody notices.
Good but not as good as " Filled up with aggression, Gonna smash your television!" Can't remember the name of the big fella....

Not sure what to do with my bass, keep or trade, advice wanted!
Donnyboy replied to MarkG3's topic in Bass Guitars
Personally I think it looks cracking, but then I'm partial to a slab body P. I've got a 51 P reissue and understand what you say about it feeling big! But to me it feels right. I've also got a Jazz that I know is good well set up and sounds great. I'm not madly in love with it , but think I should be , weird huh. I've decided to hang onto it , but have previously put it up for sale, then decided I would regret it. I'm rubbish at giving any advice on this, obviously!! -
I've got a set on my Jazz , big eared ones. I've not had any problems. I like big ears !
