2. That font is way too big as well, ffs 😂
3.
I always hear nice things about Farida basses. If I was closer and in buying mode, I'd be round for a reccy. Not maple finger boarded though... thinking about Anneka Rice must have made you tired. GLWTS.
SHAMBOOOO! LEGEND! I've got a Farida myself and really can't fault it for the price at all. Id say they're easily £350-550 worth of instruments in sound and feel (depending on what model and features) £150 Is a good price.
4. Withdrawn
5.
I don't gig yet but I play through Ashdown Toneman 300 Evo III and a Classic Ampeg 8x10 where we rehearse.
I'd say if you're happy with the ashdown Sounds, take one home with you or the Fender is a good all round sound.
6. Ashdown do it for me and the Fender Rumble is a good call too! Small and light but good sounding amps. What's your gig rig?
7.
Yup. Looks the business doesn't it?!
For £1200 it's lost on me. I don't see why they're not competing with the likes of Hofner and Epiphone
8.
I was over in the US recently and tried the Gold Tone mini bass in a shop. Has those weird rubbery strings but it sounded really nice acoustically. Not enough to actually use in earnest but nice for practicing. Was on sale at $399 which I suspect is a lot cheaper than either the Taylor or the Guild.
Those are the strings they tend to use on Uke basses and Ashbory basses. The micro basses tend to be strung with bronze strings and I think a lot of sound and resonance is missing through them because of the tension usually needed by a full scale. Me personally, I'd swing more for a uke bass. Even if it would look out of place on all 6'6" of me, it would sound right more importantly
9. So I guess this classes as a semi-hollow then? 😅
10. If you've not had it long, return them to your supplier. Normally there's a manufacturer's warranty/guarantee for the store to act on.
11. What actually happened to the body? 😂
12. The GS Mini was forever going to be a disappointment as it's essentially a bass for Taylor fanboys. It's just a "cheap" travel bass with high ticket price and if that wasn't enough, ~£40 for the branded strings was a kick in the teeth! Hahaha A Guild Mini Jumbo would be something to try but nothing I'd set out to buy. IF I was after a shorty acoustic bass, I would sway more towards the uke basses and they're cheaper again and sound good for what they are. I know Bass Direct have Kala uke basses available but another to check out is Bass Centres Ashbory models. http://www.basscentre.com/all-about-that-bass.html Worth a look
13.
Someone was bound to come up with the answer
Badum tsh! Much prefer an unbound neck on these basses but each to their own.
14. I'd be tempted to say look at the marketplace on here for a cheap squier or something alike. Bound to be better quality and similar price marks. For me, it just seems better to invest in the second hand market anyway and HB instruments tend to be "1 in 10" for something that doesn't need some work done to it from the factory.
15.
Ibanez are exceptionally good value at the moment. I bought a BTB Premium last week and there was nothing else new that compared to it in terms of price/quality/spec Lots of rosewood in my BTB, my understanding is that rosewood needs to be licenced but maybe some don't have the licenced stocks to draw on.
It depends if it's old stock, for the store, and whether they'll be importing any more or what strand of rosewood it is. As far as my knowledge goes, there's different varieties of Rosewood and similar woods like Pau Ferro which Fender have started using on the new mexican Noir models.
16. https://blog.andertons.co.uk/guitars/cites Worth a check
17. I think there's also the consideration for CITIES protecting rosewood too, so the import/export of it has also been impacting the price of guitars. Mostly due to exchange rates.... we need to stop having elections in the UK XD
18. * have you tried the LTD models and if So, worth an investment or not?
19. How do you rate the ESPs? Surprised you haven't got a Yamaha BB
