  1. The TBP (£300) are cheap Chinese made basses, nothing alike to the Tokai Hardpunchers of the day. Perhaps more so like the Westfield quality beginner basses with the Tokai name slapped on, double the price. Ive seen some Squier basses with better specs sell for less. For the price range you're looking to spend, I'd consider looking at some of the Bass Collection(Bass Centre) basses for sale on here or buy new. They're supposed be be highly regarded instruments for sub £500 basses. I'm sure someone will vouch for this. Some of the MIM basses, they're ok but overpriced for what opinion I hold on Fenders and prices. IF you're after a Japanese Tokai, I'd say hold out and wait for one to come up you like and keep adding to your funds. Fantastic basses and worth spending a little more on something quality.
  2. Black or pearloid.... Black being more classy imo 😉
  3. *"knop" = knob. Fantastic basses, I'd be interested to try this with your mods, almost a James Lomenzo configuration GLWTS
  4. Price: £625 £550 Location: Eastham, Wirral, Cheshire. £750 value (Reverb.com), after £550 for a quick sale to fund much needed new equipment. Well kept, hardly any signs of wear (being a bassist primarily) comes with Jim Dunlop Straplocks, case and case candy. Gibson Les Paul Tribute Electric Guitar Features: A tribute to a beloved classic 9-hole, weight-relieved body allows for longer sets Mahogany SlimTaper neck plays like a '60s favorite Rosewood fingerboard delivers classic Les Paul sustain Gibson 490 pickups pay tribute to turning-point tones of the 1960s Decked out with vintage-style Tektoid tuners and Gold Top Hat knobs Aluminum Tune-o-matic bridge is lightweight and tonally matched to the guitar Plek'd for precision playability Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for viewing BSB
  5. What a bass for a hell of a guy. Someone's going to love this 😉🤘🏻
  6. Yes the SUB is a bargain for American made Musicman bass, no lie but the electronics aren't the same. I don't know so much for the pickup itself but this is only a 2 band active EQ and no pickup switch. There are vast differences between the SUB5 and the Classic 5.... A bit misleading when you detail it like that. Perhaps a revise? I'll happily remove my comment afterwards 👍🏻
  7. I suppose its always good to have the option of cases. Beautiful basses from the 80's/90's.
  8. I thought they came supplied with MM cases for free in 1993, as much as in 1987 and now ? 🤔
  9. By all means! I'd leave to hear any responses, keep us all posted 😁👍🏻
  10. Truer words have never been spoken I've never tried adjusting a dual truss rod but I imagine it's not too hard... I bet the necks never move enough to adjust them. Some good basses out there in the mainstream market, each to their own on brand and model but for me, some of the budget instruments are really turning heads for playability and functionality.
  11. I appreciate it's good for a travel bass, it does what it's functioned to do if full scale and oversized basses aren't practical in some situations... But ~£700 for something that sounds boxy, intonation issues, no string tension and the hefty price tag. I'd consider an Ashbory or Kala. Also, seen the price of strings? Last time I checked there were ~£45-50
  12. Been mentioned and I’m not a hater.... but the Rickenbacker Basses are punching above their weight for ‘nothing special’ for £2000+, when you can consider what else is out there for less or equal price... some nice boutique builds out there. Taylor GS Mini.....
  13. Hey BC’ers! I was in my local store the other day when I got talking to the owner, an authorised Yamaha dealer. Asked about any new basses coming in, and he said he's expecting some "new BB's" in a few weeks and word from the Yamaha Rep of a new Billy Sheehan “with scalloped frets and in the blue colour” I am aware that these features are standard for the AT3 but this isn’t something he’d be stocking, not for £3000 a pop in his little store and I don’t know if they’d actually revamp a BB174 with a new colour and scalloped frets. i just wondered for those out there, in the know, if they have heard anything similar and if so what? Any sources? I’m quite interested to find out more... considering Yamaha have released news of Ampeg Amps “joining” the Yamaha Guitar Group, this wouldn’t shock me for more bass gear coming our way to keep up the sales of both Basses and Amps. BSB
  14. Yamaha Attitude LTD 2 25th anniversary model
  15. Being honest, for the little time I've used it (perhaps 3 hours most since Xmas) there's no fan sound/interference as far as I can remember but I'll check it out later to be doubly sure.
  16. Got myself some M-ears on the way as a backup pair but they're not the same haha! Fingers crossed TJ, a fantastic amp and I'm sure you'll love it!
  17. WILL consider trade for Ashdown METERS headphones send me a message.
  18. Karl's latest victim! Only took him 9 years to finally get me haha. Traded a Fender Mex Geddy Lee Jazz Bass in sunburst and a Gibson SG bass in Fireburst Satin for a Yamaha Billy Sheehan Attitude LTD 2 (25th anniversary). Initially sorted through Facebook sales page (I missed the advert on here!) but all went extremely well with Karl making a drive to me to trade basses, which was really appreciated and I'd have loved to spend more time with Karl to pick his brains on basses and gear but timing was off this time. Maybe next time Karl All the best for now and enjoy the basses. BSB
  19. Thanks guys, traded now
