Orange...
(snip) Orangtino
Orangatino? Orangutan? OBBM has an orangutan? Cool!
3.
Probably posted before, but this is my current setup:
I love the way your rack looks like it's almost the size of the cab! And it sounds soooooo good, was mighty impressed at the bash
4. Is this a "BiPolar Bear" power amp or MOSFET? BiPolars, as they get hotter will run into thermal meltdown trying to sink more and more current. MOSFETs sink less current as they get hotter so will pose less of a risk of complete failure running without the fan.
I've uploaded a new one, but it's not showing up in my posts
It is for me. Probbaly a cache/cookie thing in your browser?
6. How about some pictures?
7. jakesbass, Happy Jack and bassicinstinct, you all put it far more eloquently than I could. Agreed EDIT: and P-T-P and Tinman!
8.
Proof positive that this, as most things, is entirely subjective. Personally, if I had the choice of playing very few "quality" gigs or lots of "cover" gigs, I'm absolutely certain which choice I'd make. I'm a player, so playing is what I do.
+1 My main gig is a function band. My second band is an original pop rock band. Even that I find some of the songs entirely cringeworthy to play, but I do it to play the songs I love, play some cool venues and generally play for a laugh with musicians (esp. the drummer) whom I respect and like. My "other stuff" is the occasional jazz rehearsal - even a gig in July, hooray! - and that's fun for entirely different reasons. i.e. it's a real challenge to play with people who have played for over 40 years each and know everything back to front, standing on their heads, whereas I'm fairly new to it all so don't know the numbers, don't necessarily "get" the changes imediately. Which one do I actually have most fun with? Probably the function band coz we get to play for hours, everyone loves it and we get to play for hours
9. 5th June - GONE to a silver fox man. Yep. Comes with a handy remote control too. Perfectly good working order, just sitting in storage doing nothing so free for anyone who wants to come and get it. I think there's a dodgy old stand for it too, it's actually a stand for a Mitsubishi TV but the Sony sits on it fine. If it's in the storage place you can have that too. I'm in Redhill, South East Surrey. (edited to make title clearer)
10. No worries, thanks for the pics! I like the white knobs Good luck selling!
11. OHM, I have a few drummer's numbers in Surrey if you need deps for the gigs? I totally understand where you're coming from with the rant, but I get it with singers, not drummers! Our function band drummer is great, he writes out the parts and has them to hand at gigs just in case. Meanwhile our singers are always whinging about this or that, and one of them still has to have the bloody lyrics on a music stand 5 years after we started the band. Even I know them by now!
12. Welcome! Pics and a price would be wonderful for any prosepctive buyers
13. Nice bass, I want an S2 Classic 5 string so much!
14.
Just bought green carpet one myself, with the 1248 (4 x 12) cab. Looking forward to giving it a blast at next rehearsal.
Oooh, you got the one on ebay? Good work! That will sound MONSTER, the 4x12 cab is a heavy bugger but sounds feckin great
15. Er yes, didn't make that clear did I?!! Haha. If I'd bought a V-Type head for a tenner I'd have been the luckiest b*gger alive. it was £255 plus a tenner for delivery from Derbyshire
16.
I kinda regret selling it on as well mate twas a great sounding head just didnt really get on with the 12 band graphic, still sounded ace with the valve drive on full with a wee boost around 300k. . . . . . . . . .
Same reasons I sold it and I liked it!
17. You're right, they were Celestion afaik. I had a MAG cab with the black Celestions in and I loved it, much better than the same cab with Bluelines which I have also used...
18.
If we get any of those gigs, I'll let you know and just a thought, but can I say we were recommended by your bands? Cheers Nik
Yes. Given Ben wants Tony to be his dep if ever needed I have no problem with that at all!!
19. Sad to say it happens all the time. If I borrow someone elses rig I will always offer a drink or two as a thank you, common courtesy. I've done gigs with my rig just used without question before and not a single please or thank you, inlcuding one asshole who almost blew all the speaker f**kin about with his fx pedals. Thesedays if it's not organised in advance then it doesn't happen as far as I'm concerned.
20. Haywards Heath - Bar None (or is it All Bar One?) Ah bugger, one or the other. We're gigging ther ein April off the back of a recommendation from the Crow's Nest.
21.
Apparently he used to be pretty popular up north.
Can't say the name rings a bell with me.
22. More info... The (original) all-valve V-Type head was 25kg, according to the TE manual the 1x15 combo was 30kg. I reckon this is about 18-20kg max but really don't remember feeling it was that heavy when I owned one!
23. It's probably about 18kg IIRC, not much heavier than my old Trace AH300-12. My V-Type combos are 32kg and 42kg (1x15 and 4x8 respectively).
24.
yup, Cass Lewis, or me, probably me actually.
+1 (I've never knowingly heard you play but you must be good coz you used to have the patience to cart around a massive Trace rig!)
