Depends on the gig. Function band is: 2 basses in Hiscox cases or gig bags 1 combo 1 box with all leads and pedals 1 stand Originals band is (normally) 2 basses 1 amp head 1 or 2 cabs 1 box as above 1 stand

Good shops: Electromusic in Doncaster, had many a pleasant trip there while at Uni in York (god, over 4 years ago now ) Er, that's it. Oh wait, Andertons in Guildford *can* be OK. It's hit and miss to be honest. Recently it's been hit, but in the past it's most definitely missed. I think there's one "other" high street shop which many could learn from: Richer Sounds. Never, ever, ever put a foot wrong with me, even if only buying some speaker cables. And that's the new Reigate one, Croydon, Leeds and Guildford all acoounted for. Cracking service.

I just want my flat to look like a bass store, so I currently have 4 plus a cheapo electro-acoustic. But there is a point to them all so I do now have little need for more: 1. Vester Jazz copy, my first bass so never being sold for sentimental reasons 2. Status Retroactive J, built for me and my main gigging bass 3. Status Groove 5, coz the low B is good 4. Status Groove fretless, coz it's fretless and lovely 5. Firewood. Oh, sorry, electro-acoustic cheapo, for messing around on at home Might want a P bass at some point. No, I DO want a P bass at some point. Just can't justify it yet

BTW, fuses normally blow when turning the amp on or off, not mid-gig (unless you are making the amp work REALLY hard)! It's like light bulbs, they normally die when you switch the light on coz that's the most likely moment of current spikes.

Both. I have to be very careful with here and ebay or my flat would be full of amps on the floor and basses on all spare wallspace, leaving no room for me.

I'm not sure what the fuss is about. Eden Nemesis stuff is built in China and no-one even mentions it when discussing China manufacture. Clearly their QC is top notch, so it's obvious that as long as the QC is kept up-to-scratch, the components are sourced wisely (i.e. don't go cost-cutting like Gibson did with Trace) and the contract manufacturer is kept on a tight leash everything will be OK. My experience in my day job sees contact with Chinese CEMs all day long, apart from a few stupid things here and there (which everyone else is also capable of) they are no different from UK, continental European or American manufacturers. Some of our bigger Chinese customers have stricter QA and QC than their UK parent companies.

MOSFET is solid state, so no idea!! "Solid State" may be Bi-Polar transistors?? MOSFET = metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor.
