2.
It's not just Eminence, it's anyone and everyone that uses neodymium - neo loudspeakers, electric motors, generators, etc. The result for us is that prices are going up and may continue to go up. If the cost of neo goes stupid high then we'll look into comparable quality ferrite drivers, which would make the cabs heavier but still as light as most other neo cabs are now.
That's what I figured, but had to ask the question
 3. Is the fact that Eminence is involved going to screw Barefaced as well?
 4.
MMM i am thinking this but the Ricky isnt really old, and has hardly been used before i got it.. it just seems a bit too coincidental that both basses have the exact same fault and behave in exactly the same way. Dont get me wrong if i have to pay to have rewires and improved sheilding i will.. but i really want to be certain. regards Keith M
It's not a fault per se, more a "feature" of passive basses. You can improve it but may not ever fully remove the buzz, sorry!
 5.
Good Afternoon Guys, I was wondering if anybody who may live near to me ( Widnes cheshire ) ,would be willing to loan me a bass head even if only for a hour. The Story : I have a TC RH450 and my 2 passive basses a 2005 Ricky and a 1997 De-armond starfire hum badly unless you turn up the volume to full on both pick-ups or touch the strings. My 2 active basses, a 2009 sandberg JJ california and a MM stingray 2007 are fine. I have e-mailed Tc support and they reckon its the basses fault, but i would like a sanity check as i find it a bit too coincidental that 2 basses are at fault.
Sounds to my like a grounding issue on your passive basses, they are (IME) more prone to this anyway.
 6.
For what it's worth. . . . I have a Status Shark and a Groove. Both are really nice basses. The Groove is VERY nice and if it wasn't for the fact that I am trying to cure my NAS (Noah's Ark Syndrome) I would have this in a flash. Top quality, beautiful neck, balances well, nice weight, great sounds. . . I could go on and on. Cheers.
Me too.... agree with your comments. Always regretted selling my Groove 5er (madness) but still have a fretless (the last "real" Groove out of the factory, wooden neck as opposed to the three which followed with graphite necks) and now have a Shark 5er which I love too. They are both so... playable. Fantastic basses
What is the tone of these things like? Looking at the pickup arrangement, I'm guessing that they might be slightly Stingray-like?
Yep, spot on. But (IMHO) they sound sweeter and play better than Stringrays.
 7. Someone nabbed a bargai there, this is by far and away my favourite bass combo ever. Almost went for it myself
 8.
So tempting - can you plug an MP3 player in?
Yep Aux in mini jack round the back!
Are you loving it? Knew you would!
Hell yes.
 9.
I know that GK amp is teeny tiny, but it makes it look like you're using a cab with a 6 foot diameter speaker.
Ha! Crazy, isn't it? I have a pic of it on a student's Eden N8 combo and even that dwarfs it!!
 10.
Been GASsing for that too Merton...damn you too!!
Mark @ Bass Direct should have one in stock Alan, you know you want to.....
 11. Just joined this club too, with the amazing GK MB200
 12. Here's mine, ok the cab is a big speaker but it's a small cab for the 15" driver (and it's in dire need of a re-fin coz the gaffa tape looks sh*t, haha!) Amp is an amazing bit of kit, loud, punchy, loads of bottom end. Haven't used it with a band yet, mind, but it seems to have oodles of power for such a dinky thing. What I *really* want to do is try the MB200 with my Vintage. Bet that will be fantastic
 13. 7 band semi parametric EQ?? I think not. It's really 4 band of which 3 bands have sweepable frequencies
 14.
Nice idea, but I'm struggling to see a real benefit to this, bearing in mind that a laptop/netbook + USB interface + headphones solution has been around for years, and would in all likelyhood, work out a lot cheaper. Ian
I have a laptop and an iPad, the iRig and GK app totalled less than £30. Out of interest how much would a USB interface cost for the lappy? (My laptop is also sh*t though...)
 15.
I just noticed the reference to the "7 band semi parametric EQ". Don't the people who write this stuff actually look at the pictures of what they're describing, or is that they just don't know what a 7 band semi parametric EQ looks like? Actually I think the same description was given on the LG as well.
Indeed, it was wrong for the LG and it's wrong now... Ah well. These things are about the same size as the GK MB200, yet pack in more power (in the 550W silver guise at least). I wonder if they'll sound as good...
 16. Love both (just got me an MB200) but they have very different core tones
 17. Mine arrived today, utterly love it already
 18.
Not really in these specific circumstances... the handling @ 4 Ohms is apparently 400W, push 500W (the amp's rated output into 4 Ohms) into that and 3 things will happen very quickly:

The speaker cone will go beyond its maximum excursion and permanently crease and disfigure. You will be aware of this by the buzzing, farty noise it starts to make.
The speaker coil will melt. You will hear nasty crackling noises and a very reduced volume.
Smoke will start to escape from the amp as the output transformer drives into a load it can't handle. Silence will soon follow.
Best avoided! ficelles
Bollocks, unless you push everything too hard.
 19. For anyone who is interested in these, Russ is a top dude to do business with
 20. Most intriguing... Looks tiny. Still, not gonna sway me from my MB200 which is but a few days away I'm told
 21. Looks like one which has failed to sell on ebay over the last few months
 22. My first bass was the Stage Series Jazz, still got it, though the PUps are replaced with Schallers. I also have an exact copy of this one but it's in pieces whilst I find the time to do something with it. I have a decent solid wood body from a (70s?) Kay P copy which I am hoping to attach tot eh Vester's neck (the Kay's neck is more like a banana) but the pair of them have been disassembled for nigh on 3 years now..... Not a bad find for £25, even with the pylwood body! A decent set up (and poss a swap of the PUps and pots) and you have a decent sounding and playing bass for not much
 23. I have this on my iPad and it's great! Perfect for "silent" home song learning Gonna start taking it to lessons as well (with little powered speaker thing), instead of lugging an amp around.
 24. RIP Jet
