  1. Now down to 4 basses in my stable, two medium scale ACGs (below), a short scale ACG and short scale Conway Instruments fretless. Ever since Alan built me my first 32” bass back in 2014/5 it’s felt like “home”, and after several iterations as I played around with different shapes, woods and pickups, earlier this year he built me what I can only describe as the most perfect bass for me - the 5 string RetroB (see here). I’ve thoroughly enjoyed gigging her all summer and got to thinking how comfortable I find the RetroB shape both seated and standing, and how much I love the RFB pickup in the bridge position (essentially an ACG take on an MM). So I commissioned a 4 string version. It’s less exotic - no fancy top wood and accent veneer, no blocks in the board - but it’s scratched an itch I’ve had for years about having a black/maple bass whilst also giving me the shape and tones I am after. So these are my medium scale siblings now and I really can’t see anything making me want to change them.
  2. Did anyone see Marlee King opening the show? My mate was playing drums; he also happens to be dtum and monitor tech for L42 of course 😁
  3. My latest ACGs have this config (albeit ACG proprietary pickups based on the MM and P) and I absolutely concur.
  4. That is quite lovely ☺️
  5. PS, and I saw The Virginmarys back in 2010 when they were still a 3 piece with a bassist. They were superb. Their first album was produced by Toby Jepson (of Little Angels Fame) and it’s a great slab of bluesy alt rock.
  6. Tbh the first time I saw Florence Black (Feb 2020) the volume was much much better and they blew me away. More recently they’ve just become that heavy overly loud mush. I saw them on the Tremonti tour and felt the sound for the whole night, both bands, was sh1t. Far too loud, way too much boom on the kick and a huge, undefined bass mess. Heavy music doesn’t have to be horribly loud and undefined to make it heavy!!
  7. I’m not, but I think we have a plan!
  8. Bought recently but no longer need. Andertons-branded. Free if you can collect from me (normally RH6 postcode but also in TN14, OX11 or M30 reasonably regularly)
  9. She goes off to BassBros tomorrow unless anyone shouts before around 10am
  10. Alas being sensible and slimming the heard (for once!) Need to get a few quid together for a car for my son soon, I forget he’s not a kid anymore 😱
  11. Cannot believe this is still here; such a good price for an incredible bass
  12. Love a medium scale. Lots of options if you look. And, erm, #shamelesplug 👀
  13. Fingers crossed!
  14. So @Chimike, assuming Andertons had stock, what are your first impressions? 🤓
  15. Seems my comment is still up, as is (so far) my reply to his “I won’t accept inflammatory comments”. Have politely suggested it’d be easier to take the video down than police the comments 🤓
  16. Basschat price now £1100 Am heading up the M1 to Huddersfield next week for a family wedding so can (potentially) personally deliver to your door if you’re in the right area 🤓
  17. For the last 11 years I’ve been thinking one of these would be perfect for one of my gigs. But now that gig has dried up to maybe 3-4 a year max, so seems a bit pointless! Hope you get yours sorted @tauzero
  18. Lewis bought a Pedaltrain Metro16 from me - paid over the weekend for me to post on Monday. Top notch, easy comms, great guy to deal with
  19. This looks very very cool https://www.gibson.com/en-gb/blogs/gibson-gazette/how-the-mesa-boogie-bass-800d-channels-50-years-of-bass-amp-innovation
  20. Just got in after an excellent, but LOUD, gig with Katy Hurt at the Hogs Back Brewery Hop Harvest festival. Weather was changeable and literally 15 minutes before we were due on the heavens opened, but thankfully the rain stopped and the sun shone for our entire hour set. The lineup was eclectic but cool, naturally there was great beer, the crowd was superb, and the sound (onstage at least) was great, (except for the loud bit 😆). We played well on the whole, my ACG/Elf/Two10 rig was sounding mint, Gab played a blinder and Katy was in fine voice. Really enjoyed it, just wish I’d put my earplugs in…
  21. Nice. Played both over the last couple of years with Katy Hurt. Next time I’ll drag you along 😀
  22. Music stands and blowing amps - bleurgh! Is that Gullivers?
