  1. Just back to my hotel after a hot sweaty little gig in Manchester on the “Gimme A Tour”, er, tour. The band were great, I was average, the crowd were enthusiastic and the volume was a bit too much. But my bass (ACG RetroB) sounded ace through the Digbeth pre, Elf and Barefaced Two10. Shoes were brown suede Chelsea boots, I really should wear them more because they’re ace.
  2. Give them an inch and they’ll take a kilometre…? 🤓 Sorry.
  3. Honestly think these are one of the best solid state heads ever made. Always regret selling my one, and now here are two. Hmmm… 😀
  4. One thing which I think gets missed with all the “Barefaced 10s vs 12s” is the 10s actually go higher… They have been designed to have a more vintage tone, and for a lot of people work because they are more coloured like almost any other major bass cab out there. But they top out at 6kHz vs 4kHz with the 12s (unless you get tweeters involved of course). I feel I get more clack from the 10s than the 12s! So yes, I have both a Two10 and a Super Twin, and have simply created an EQ curve in my HX Effects to allow me to switch from one to the other without having to completely readjust anything else. The 12s are flatter across the spectrum so the EQ curve compensates for that. It’s not quite a smiley face, it’s more subtle than that and doesn’t add anything below 200Hz iirc, but it does take away some mids in the 800Hz-1.2kHz region and boost a little top end to compensate for the lower top end response. It doesn’t make the 12s sound like the 10s - that would be pointless as I may as well just have a bigger/extra 10 cab - but it softens up the flatter response to make it easier to switch between cabs within the same band context.
  5. You sir, are a scholar and a gent
  6. Slightly weird question, is the FX loop still engaged when the pedal is in bypass mode?
  7. Another shamelessly stolen photo with a better view of my sexy ACG
  8. Being very boring and going back on topic (sorry 😆) - last night was gig #3 of the Katy Hurt tour, at Hot Box in Essex. Wicked venue, great engineer, backline supplied by Ashdown. Sounded fantastic, we played well to a packed room who seemed to enjoy themselves. Bass was my ACG RetroB (nothing else has had a chance since getting it tbh, it’s perfect for Katy’s music) and shoes were some new grey suede Chelsea boots to replace the black leather ones which hurt my feet in Bath. Shirt was one of Gab’s (guitarist) because I left mine on the back of the door when I went to work first thing yesterday 😆 Photo shamelessly stolen from Facebook
  9. Not immediately to hand but can go get a pic or three later when I drag myself out of bed 😄
  10. Gig #2 of the weekend was a hot sweaty punk rock all-dayer in Cambridge with Youths. Great venue, loads of bands, lovely promoter and a brilliant sound engineer all made it a joy. We played well I think, had a laugh and lots about half our body weight in sweat. Bass was my first ever bass (Vester jazz) direct into the PA via my Laney Digbeth pre. Sounded ace from where I was. Shoes were some tired black Etnies which are super comfy but maybe a bit heavy for such a hot day - lesson learnt 😄
  11. Having played through a Monaco I can imagine this is quite the beast of a cab, even with the “lower rated” driver. I’m half tempted myself, but the cat would need to be included 😆
  12. Second gig of the Katy Hurt album release tour (we’ve taken to calling it “Gimme A Tour” after the album’s “Gimme A Break” title). Bath Chapel Arts Centre this time - what a great venue. Ed the soundman was ace, we even had a lighting engineer who was making sure we all had a spotlight on us. Great crowd, one of Katy’s biggest fans in the front row singing along to every word - I spoke to her afterwards and she has been cramming the album all week in preparation. I reckon she knows the songs better than me 🤣 I didn’t play as well as the week before but it was still a great fun gig. Next up for Katy is Chelmsford on Thursday; next up for me is my pop/punk band Youths tonight in Cambridge. Yesterday’s choice of footwear was some black leather Chelsea boots which made my feet hurt 😆
  13. Are you coming on Friday? If so I’m going to make sure this is mentioned 😆
  14. He’s deleted all the posts now… Hmmm.
  15. Seems you both posted very close to each other! I hope he fights this, that post about his wife was very worrying indeed.
  16. I just saw this too. All a bit mad. Seems he was trying to move production to the UK to avoid the stupid US tariffs on Chinese made products but his business partner shafted him instead. Hope it sorts itself out
  17. First night of the Katy Hurt album release tour tonight, at the gorgeous Square Tower in Portsmouth. An almost packed room, my first ever guitar and bass teacher in attendance and the second gig I’ve had with my gorgeous new ACG bass. All in all it was a cracking way to kick off the tour, roll on Bath on Friday 😎 White leather Converse, pristine at the beginning of the evening but now bearing their first (minor) battle scars.
  18. Love this tune, always makes me smile. Back in lockdown I used the Emma Electronics Okto Nøjs to make a fairly convincing little version of this.
  19. @Bluewine you are looking marvellous for 71. I reckon playing music is helping! I hope I am still playing in my 70s
