1.
I've got one, had it for a couple of years now and I really don't think you can get much more for your money. The fact that I can have one thing that is small and flexible enough to use as a home practice amp, that can hold it's own at small gigs (with a drummer) with no PA support, or as a stage monitor when things get a bit louder and has a removable 500W you can whip out and fire through a couple of 8 Ohm cabs, surely it's a bassist's wet dream! The 1x10 speaker obviously has it's limitations, but it's frickin' tiny! The clones are readily available and cheaper, but from what I've heard about them, the build quality isn't quite up to that of the Ibanez and although it sounds just fine as a combo, some folks have reported the head on it's own to be a little bit lacking, plus they're fugly Like thebuckets says, thomann have them in stock still >> http://www.thomann.d...hean_bstock.htm or http://www.thomann.d..._promethean.htm Eude
+1 i have to say the clones do a good job and are a steal at the price theyre being sold at, have the same speakers in the cabs and 90% same in the amps, but having had both in my hands the promethean sounded better IMHO and was a nicer finished package
 2. now the price has gone up to 175 you might be better getting the combo at 230 just a little more gives you an amp for a small gig or home practice
 3. last time I looked they were still in at thomann. they also had b stock at £460 with 3 year warranty but the clones are pretty damn good as well at half the price see the tread muskty has pointed you to
 4. apologies for the use of Awesome. but they are very very good
 5.
I don't believe you could get a better bass than this for £500.
+1 they're awesome someone grab a bargain please!
 6.
Can't go wrong with DV, I've bought stuff from them for over 10 years and always had great service.
thats the info i was after cheers
 7. 1) The warranty is a MANUFACTURER'S warranty and, in the event of a warranty issue, you can take the amp back to any authorised dealer in the country of pruchase regarding this warranty period though GAK tried to tell me that the manufacturers warranty was 2yrs only and that it would have to be an in house repair from anyone offering longer. But I expect that might have been them trying to get me to buy from them instead
 8.
Err....DV are massive. That's no guarantee they'll be around in 3 years' time just as we don't know if Thomann will. What we do know is: 1) The warranty is a MANUFACTURER'S warranty and, in the event of a warranty issue, you can take the amp back to any authorised dealer in the country of pruchase 2) If you buy from Germany, the warranty is upheld in Germany. So, back the amp goes. At your expense. 3) If DV have given you a good service, why wouldn't you want to buy from them? Seriously, these guys are doing everything you ask and you're still questioning it? Look at the state of our economy. Look at how many music shops have gone from our high streets. Can there be any better reason to support your local shops or failing that, at least buying in this country when the deal is BETTER that the one you've got from Thomann?!!
all good points and ones id already realised myself its just that i've never bought from them before and was wondering if any of you have...
 9. has anyone ever used DV247? they have the orange bass terror amp in stock and have agreed to price matched thomann (who wont have it till 8.06.12) they also offer a 4 yr warranty as opposed to thomanns 3yr as well as matching the 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee. sounds good but a 4 yr warranty is no good if theyre not here in 18 months! Thomann i know have been round for ages and are one of the big boys so more than likely to honour the warranty.
 10.
I don't use the active pad with my Musicman, but gain is set fairly low. Sounds like another misconception along with myth that this amp doesn't do clean.
Would you say this handles an active bass well then?
 11. These look awesome and could go on my list of amps to try before I die! Only thing that puts me off is people saying they don't handle acctive very well. I'm using a sandberg basic which has quite a powerfully preamp. Anyone used one of these with a berg or other active to good effect!
 12.
Very easy and cheap to retro fit. http://www.ebay.co.u...d=p3286.c0.m359
what does it actually do and is it just a clip round the cable job? cheers Bri second gig with the HB in a pub with low ceiling and lots of carpet. sounded ok to me but band said they liked it and could hear it clearly so far so good...
 13.
People saying the HB is quiter and not a lively, the colour control is off in he fully-clockwise position. You probably know this, but maybe not. So I need an amp until the GK MB Fusion 800 comes out. Can you use an extension speker with the combo? TBH I could get a hell of a cab second hand for the £80 or so you pay to have the combo over just the head.
Yep you can run an 8 ohm extension off the combo to get the full 500w at 4 ohms I'd been thinking of running the head with a small cheap cab but haven't seen anything for £80 that would be as good as the one that comes with the combo
 14.
I'll get the info. I might even rope my Chinese friend into the liaising.
Excellent keep us informed
 15. Looking at that translation link and seeing it also has a combo speakon socket as well as per/post switching it looks as though the beta aivini would be the best of both worlds -top components and a cheap price. Sure we could do a bass chat group buy anyone interested/know who to contact? Incidentally did my first gig with the HB head yesterday. Still not convinced its as powerful as the Promethean had gain and master at about 2 o clock but it did the job and sounded much better than in rehearsals no clipping and blasted an outdoor stage. Really Cut through when the boost switch is engaged. Indoor in a pub tonight I'll see how it performs there. Not 100% yet but so far so good.
 16. I've tried but I can't think if any more to add to that Liszt ;-)
 17.
I'd buy one if the price was right (even if I couldn't send it Bach to thomann;-)
back!
Sorry it's not worked out mate. So was the Promethean better than the LittleMark and the MiBass?... Eude
r Ill see how this weekend pans out but So far the promethean knocked spots off the mibass, the little mark sounded very good but as it was 250w I wanted the extra headroom of the 500w head and the promethean sounded as good as the LM and had the added flexibility of the included cab. Cash no object I'd prob go LM 3 plus BF midget but it's a step too far at the moment. I'll find that right mix soon I'm sure!
 18.
Group buy methinks!
I'd buy one if the price was right (even if I couldn't send it Bach to thomann;-)
 19. I rehearsed with my HB combo yesterday. The combo sounds ok and seemed loud enough to be used live in smaller gigs although didnt seem as loud as the promethean. When used with my 212 cab it was a lot quieter than the Promethean had been. The Ibanez was blasting all in front of it at half gain and a 1/4 master and had a good cut through sound. The HB was way up close to 3/4-full on both and didn't seem to have the headroom of the former. It also didnt sound as good even though we were using the same room as when I gave the Ibby a run out. Might be I need to fiddle with the eq colour and contour but I just couldn't get it right? Anyway I've got 3 gigs this weekend so will give it a fair runout, if it doesn't shape up it can ship out! My search continues but so far head wise the ibanez has been the best...
 20.
I've just received my Roqsolid cover for my RedSub - as you would expect it fits great and of course I took the red seams http://amplifiercoversonline.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=107_312&products_id=2700 It will obviously fit the Harley Benton too, as they're identical.
£25 nice........
 21.
Nice one Bri, glad you've managed to find the right head Eude
Cheers Ewan If it sounds as good through my LB212 as the ibanez did then its a winner, and given some of the rough houses we play in a better bet as if the head gets damaged it can be replaced with the HB head which @£150 looks outstanding value. There is no doubt the promethean is a nicer finished off bit of kit though and the head is easier to remove so I wouldn't rush out to trade yours;-)
 22. This is the inside of the Harley Benton. Its identical to the RedSub and 99% of the Promethean the head comes from the same production line as The Ibanez and the speaker is the same. The Promethean is a nicer finished package with an easier to remove head but its very hard to justify the extra £270 at £229 witha 3 yr warranty I dont think you can go too far wrong with the HB (although ive not heard it through bigger cabs yet but others give it good reviews) Thomman have been excellent with me, real quick delivery and no quibble returns
 23. Hi does the head come out of this to use with another cab set up? And do you have a idea of weight ? Cheers Bri
