1. For Sale my Lined Fretless BB400s I dated it from its serial no to 1983 Vintage (reverse!) P Bass sound, ideal if you want to give fretless a go. I did and loved it so bought a fretless Stingray from Bassbora (lovely single piece of ash, original sunburst) to match my fretted 'Ray and have decided to give this up for sale. This is a big heavy bass but i got used to its weight quickly and its lovely yellowed aged neck which is fast with a nice low action Make no mistake it has been through the mill but still has a great tone. Big heavy bridge that makes a badass look lightweight! I bought it on this site for £110 and have put some ernie ball flats on it (Group III 45-100) at a cost of £35 and will supply it in an equally battered hard case for £150 all in. not making anything on it and am happy to pass on to another Bcer so they can try the black art of fretless! come join us! basses shouldnt have frets I'd prefer pick up from Liverpool but will ship at buyers expense (prob about £30) A vintage Jap fretless with a great sound got to be worth a punt at this price

3. Just bought a fretless stingray off Sveinn (Bassbora) and he was a top bloke to deal with, the bass was posted as soon as I paid the agreed fair price and arrived next day well packed. Great communications throughout. The bass had a little crack in the neckplate that he had missed (it was easy to miss and oi nly found cos im so fussy over my basses) and he was kind enough to arrange a replacement from ernie ball. this hasnt effected the playability and its a lovely bass i hope to hang onto for years (but we all know that can change with GAS!) any way i would not hesitate to buy from him again or recommend him to others

7.
Who do you get the code from? My missus works for DHL
she should be able to get an open code from her manager or payroll department the code can then be used 6 times per year to get the discount if she gets it sorted remember who told you! (still looking for a code!)
8. Hello there this is a call for help as well as a heads up for anyone who doesnt know about this sheme. Anyone working for mcdonalds, john lewis, waitrose, dhl network rail or selected other firms (full list in o2 stores but they wont print it out or give the details out over the phone) can get an o2 open code for themselves and friends and family which gives 20% off i phone contracts (30% off other handsets) they can use their code 6 times a year and you just need the name and number to sign up in store. share the love on this site like people have done with the sky friends and family codes and we can all save money. by the way if anyone has a code please pm me, I am about to send my orange phone back during my cooling off and would love an iphone on o2 without being ripped off! (great for looking up tabs on tinternet during rehearsals!) nice lady in my local o2 shop said i just need the code and the employees name and its job done! Cheers Bri
9. Harvey, I have very recently moved to fretless having bought an early eighties yamaha 400s fretless on this very site after some sound advice from fatback and bassasassin. I am so glad i did it sounds better through my peavey tnt amp than my stingray or p bass do and seems to fit the band sound really well playing mainly covers- doors and hendrix to stereophonics and oasis. after only a few weeks i consider it 'my sound' I am now already gassing for another fretless (any TFs for sale?) what im trying to say is give it a go you wont know till you go good luck and welcome to the forum Bri
10. found it its No. 11 (Andrew Levy on front cover) Knew i had it!
11. Nice one Clarky, even a relatively new BCer like myself has seen some gear come and go through your hands (all looked after of course) glad you got your matching set-Enjoy!
12. been mentioned many many times before but check out MarloweDKs play bass now site its full of instructional video and he has a great DT technique

I have just started to play fretless and an hoping i can get this down (would be happy to nail it with bass with rails though TBH!) Cheers Bri
14. just bought a 1983 (I think) yamaha BB 400s fretless and am after a truss rod key to fit, its a nut on the end of the truss rod (body end) so looks like it would be some sort of socket fitting anyone know where i can pick one up? Cheers Bri
15. bought paid for and recieved. just bought this bass and am very sorry, sorry i didnt try yamahas a long time ago! dead heavy built like a tank but great tone, found a website that dates it to 1983 so ive got a vintage fretless bass with a fretless p tone for a snip. many thanks to bassassasin and fatback for sound advice regarding this bass and thanks to gicut for a great hassle free sale anyone know were i can get a truss rod key for this bass? cheers Bri

17. After weeks of waiting for Fender to send me a Black/Black/Maple P bass I lost patience and ended up buying a Jazz from their Liverpool shop. when the front strap button pinged out after a month they were great (despite all the problems being fenders making) they refunded me for the jazz and offered me any bass in the shop for cost! My prized stingray was in my sweaty hands within seconds. I cant fault em
18.
bumperoo
pics?
19. Sure you won't post? Fancy a first go on a fretless any of you fretless players think this would be good for learning the black art of fretless on?
20. Cheers lo I'm gonna give that vid a good look and reassess my needs. sure i would end up regretting selling my P-need to hear it through some good amplification then decide. nice busy playing by rocco
21.
How about another option - keep the StingRay and the Precision but invest in a better amp. I use an Ampeg SVT3 Pro head which cunning features like two little buttons marked 'ultra hi' and 'ultra lo', and a switchable on/off 10-band graphic equaliser. I play both a StingRay and a Precision through this. I use the main rotary pots on the amp to get the sound I want from the StingRay - then I plug in the P, switch on the graphic eq and fiddle about with the sliders until I get the sound I like from the P. Hey presto!
think you might be on the money there I own 2 top draw basses one passive one active both have stood the test of time for gigging and recording so I should be able to get all the tones i need. maybe a new amp should be top of my list. I will have a look at at a deluxe p bass though i like the sound of the jazz neck and active options. still cant get the sound of Guy Pratt playing his 60s jazz out my head though! Gas eh! there's no cure for it!
22. rjb you might have hit the nail on the head -maybe i am just gassing for a jazz-love the look of them and am trying to convince myself that i need one, e.g.i have small hands that thin neck would be easier to play, the tonal variation would come in handy etc etc...
23. at last Jamersonshook is unmasked! Lo i have been watchin your vids on youtube for quite a while but somehow never found that one. hats off to you mate- good work. perhaps you would like to throw your tuppence worth into my 'should i sell my p for a Jazz' thread in the bass guitars gear forum as im still undecided and have noticed you play both.
