1.
nice bass have a wee bump
Cheers Neil they are belting
2. Just wondering what the concencus is? I'm no great slapper myself but am working on improving my technique. Made myself play thumb up a la Marlowe dk, Victor Wooten Marcus Miller etc to allow me to move to doublethumbing as my technique improves, I see a lot of players playing thumb down a la Flea, Scott Devine, Marta Altea etc. Thumb up seems more usefull, thumb down looks much cooler IMHO. How do you play and what are the advantages/disadvantages you've found?
3. Saw the trailer with the velodrome results but can't get the programme is it still available? Can't believe I missed an Horizon. Really interesting and thought provoking, well done Chris.
4. Another quality thread Chris I watched a you tube video of someone playing a bb1024x vs a bb2024x. I couldn't here any difference on a blind listen but when I watched I convinced myself the 2024 was better and I now want to sell an organ to buy your yammie!
5. I have a basic 4mm in same colour scheme up for sale, looks like its younger brother. Cracking basses but resale prices dont seem to hold. Great for buyers as they are sublime. Best neck you will play. May well keep mine! glwts
6.
Just been playing my 1024x, which I got new (ex-display, but aren't they all) for £520. It is a fabulous bass and the pick ups are immense. I got to try a 424x too up against lots of nice Fenders (I was after the traditional p bass thump) and only an American P was a match for the 424x (IMHO of course.) The 1024x, which I bought blind on the strength of recommendations on here surpassed my expectations. I really like the fact that it's PJ too. Now, I'm lucky that when I sold my old motorbike I could use the money to buy my Sandberg Califormia JM. The Sandberg probably is just that bit more 'comfortable' in the neck and it's a cracking bass too, maybe more 'polished' sounding. But I bought the Yam to give me 'rock monster' tone and it delivers that perfectly. No idea what a 2000 would be like, but I can thoroughly recommend the 1024x.
That's what I was wanting to hear! Cheers
7.
Close to the 2024 or close to Sandberg? If you can pick up a 1024/x for £500-600, you'll struggle to find better for the money. Even Jap fenders can't match the heft that these pickups give, they are mythical beasts.
Sorry I meant how close to USA fender (post2008) and sandberg are the 1024/5 series
8. That last sentence was meant to be a one bass solution. Love the p bass sound and simplicity but would like a little more and similar tank like build

Would you say 700 ish for a new1024x is a better bet than a second hand USA p bass for build and versatility. Sorry I know that's a bit subjective. I'm after some bass
10.
To the OP... not a whole lot if you can't hear why you need one. It sounds like a swap for a swaps sake.... To play a 5 I think you need to be hearing lines already and the possibilities otherwise you have a 4 which happens to have an extra string...and never use it..
You may have hit the nail squarely on the head tbh I have thought I could use a d tuner in the past for one or two numbers pink Floyd fx. That a 5er could cover. It Maybe just gas (I'm a chronic sufferer), was rather hoping answers would maybe ' it'll stretch you as a player get you thinking of positions, I was worried but made the change and never looked back' etc but you could be right
11. Also is the difference between the 1024 and the 1024x purely cosmetic?
12.
Funny, I just made exactly that comment in a thread about my new one, looks like a £500 bass, plays like a £2500 bass (or, to be honest, a lot of £5000 basses)
Does this mean I can get a 1024 play the dog and duck and pretend ive got a 2.5k bass? ;-) Seriously im tempted by the 1024/5 Im a p bass fan but like the build quality of the likes of sandberg How close do these come?
13. Sorry Pete I mean schaller compatible. A nice touch I think as you can throw your strap straight on without having to change buttons. Keeps it safe and totally stock. Wish fender would follow suit
14. Your just teasing me now! Have a bump anyway. The Sandberg should have shipped with shallers fitted so unless the previous owner removed them and youve had to replace them I'd be tempted to leave em on to keep it stock. I pm'd you re a few NewQ bargains on your wish list available GLWTT!
15. Andy bought my Nate Mendel P bass. Nice fella to deal With money was in the bank super fast and great comms throughout. Enjoy it mate!
16. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cqmjc3jladwn2dt/jc_hpd6rjJ New pics taken in the sun. After a noodle this morning I Think this is close to being withdrawn
17. Cheers guys the sandbewrg VMs get great reviews in 4&5 string versions. I like my 4 string basic but no experience of any 5s Sorry mods if this should have gone in theory and technique
18. Probably been asked before a thousand times so apologies but I can't find much in the forums. After 20 years of 4 strings and still not being anywhere near as good as I should I'm tempted by a 5er. Been drooling over some Sandberg basses and the price difference between 4 and 5 strings is minimal. My question is will I end up with just a fatter neck (on my bass!) and an extra thumb rest or will I become a session virtuoso with 5 strings? Thoughts from you guys who've made the jump up from 4 to 5 especially anyone who's done it after a long time playing 4
19. Cheers Oli As ever 'you the man' when it comes to all things Sandbergs a quick chat with you and I'll end up withdrawing it from sale! These really are the business for action fit and finish and as you say the necks are something else My p bass love could be satisfied with a VM I suppose....
20. Ok everyone likes a round number. German warwick killer Reduced to £500. Thats half price on new folks!
21. Played with this last night and seriously wondering why im selling! Got a pm asking about finish etc. Really tight neck pocket and all screws on the pickguard line up nicely
22. Mine def. Looks gold in the Areas where the roadworn wear is. I had read that CAR was Leos fav. Colour and that silver gave the better sparkle through the top coat. Think gold was cheaper paint and falls right with the cost saving going on at fender in the early 70s. (No doubt someone on here will have the answer) Seems like a really good reproduction of an early 70s P at a fraction of the cost.
