I've had a standard as well as a beige-carrying-lilac Chinchilla as well as a pair of Degus The Chinchillas were my favourites I must admit. Alas they're all in critter heaven now though.
2.
What's the cab like?
It's easy to move around for a start. Sound-wise it's really nice but I need to get the thing cranked up and worn in I think. It copes with my 5 string well and is able to get nice and round as well as tight n twangy for da funk. I can get quite close to Billy Sheehan tones with my Attitude (unfortunately not skill-wise) which makes me smile and realise what the SVT converts were saying are close to being true. I haven't got a rehearsal til the new year and then pretty much get straight into gigging (8th Jan at The Lexington in London) - so I'll update when I've had it out and about. But now I've had a play with the settings it just gets better and bettererererer! I am a very happy Jay!
3. Can't really match all those exotics above but as I'm still giddy about my new TC rig........ Also in the shot is my main gigging bass with Subset - the red croc effect bodied Italia Modulo. There's also my '91 Yamaha Attitude Ltd (the original series (only 500 in this colour) - bought for my 21st birthday when it came out!) and the edge of my Mex Fender Jazz fretless The rig, as you can see, is the RH450 head, RS210 cab and the RC4 floor controller. In the back is my Hartke 1x15 and 4x10 Transporters - for sale on eBay Here's another pic showing the bigger stack comprising a HA200 head, SansAmp RBI and Db Tech IEM in a SKB case. A better shot of the Attitude, Jazz and my Schecter Diamond Custom 5
4. I've had Trace stuff and loved it so agree with Musky. I borrowed a Peavy Pro500 which was adorned with many knobs - only used it for one gig though but seemed right enough. Hartke has served me well - I used a HA200 with a SansAmp RBI for about 6 or 7 years. Dunno if any of that helps..........
5. Congrats! Always good to get what you want for crimbo!! Enjoy.
6.
+1. They're like FUTURE CASES FROM OUTER SPACE.
My 4U SKB has served me well - no complaints after 6+ years of gigging
7.
I like it! A lot. I picking my amp up this weekend and testing the cabs.
Excellent - I need to find some time to play with the settings. Have fun this weekend (hopefully snow wont get in the way) and let us know what you decided cab-wise
8.
Sounds excellent! Let us know how it all goes!
Heya! I've only had a quick play around to make sure all's working as it should and I'm a very happy bunny. I'm just restringing my main gig bass and then will start playing with the multitude of settings to get my perfect sound. The Tube Tone is really nice to use and all-in-all the fact that I can put the RS210 on the little luggage trolley and slip the amp and pedal in the carry bag I think this may prove to be one of my best buys for a long time
9. Well - I for one am happy with the RH450 It's gonna be a darned site easier to get in a cab or on the tube - yes, that is a fold-up luggage trolley between the TC rig and the Hartke - I am now fully mobile in a carbon friendly way!
10. I've received my RS210 and Bonners have sent me a Peavy Pro500 as a temp amp for my gigs whilst we wait for TC to ship my RH450. This gave me a great chance to try the TC in comparison with my Hartke 1x15 and 4x10 that's being sold today. I for one love the look of the RS210 - yeah the finish is odd and the Peavy flightcase did leave some marks which just brushed off. I have got the cab cover and the carry bag for the pedal and amp (when it arrives). I love the sound of the RS210's punch and clarity and with the HF dial I'm sure that when the RH450 arrives I'll be sounding like I've wanted to for quite a while The RS210 does loose some bottom compared with the 4x10 and 1x15 (no $h!t Sherlock) but I tend to have a more low mid than purely low sound anyhow and I'm sure once my bank account is happy enough for me to get the RS212 I'll have pretty much a perfect rig with a small footprint. I've more bass is required the PA will sort that out I'm sure.
11.
I'm considering going for this amp + pedal + bag when I return my Shuttle 9.0 thats had some problems. I found the Shuttle a little too 'thin'....very very clean and light, but not my sound. Will this amp deliver the goods?
Well, when chatting to Mark at Bass Direct he told me that the Shuttle was great for 'precise' and 'clinical' attack and uncoloured bass sound - that made me change my mind and head TC Rebel-wards I'm neither clinical or overly precise and tend to get more rock and metal gigs than acoustic, solo bass and all round cleverness type gigs and the fact that I can make the rig sound dirty is a bonus The fact that TC have had people such as Steve Bailey, Janek, Rocco Prestia, Nick Beggs and Ida Funkhouser being and sounding groovy with it as well as Ampeg fans digging the sound, for me at least, was convincing enough that this is a very versatile rig
12.
I was thinking of Rh450 with RS210 for £1117 Need to shift my trace elliot and JAzz bass first Thanks for your helpful information and you experience with the finance! Sorry to hear about your girlfriend... Bad times! I'm definitely going get this cab becasue it sooooo lush I first heard it at a Janek Gwizdala gig and fell in love with it... I've played and it just soo PHAT! Must get back to practicing All the best basschatters!
Thanks dude I'm guessing you've seen Janek on the TC You Tube channel
13.
Awww hell yeah. 3 Sides? Classic... d
I'm more a Pornograffitti fan.......... I saw them on that tour - not bad for a pasty faced white guy
14.
Wow Thanks guys for all of your imput! Who much did you buy Jay?
I heard so many good things about the rig and since selling my car I needed something that wouldn't give me a hernia everytime I got on the tube or a cab. I also liked the idea of stacking the cabs vertically or on their side. My plan is, when money allows and the gigs get larger, to add the RS112 or RS212 to give a bit more depth. For me the flexibility of the head with the 3 programable channels, the valve 'sound' and the fact that there has been Ampeg users saying how close the head is to the SVT - not entirely convinced but until I get a roadie and transport there's no way I can lug around an SVT rig Also you can run 3 cabs off the one amp in the way Peter (GreenKing) mentioned which looks very cool and is probably very loud. I've paid £1,300 for the rig but I've also added the cab cover and the amp/pedal carry bag - they have said they'll be chucking in some freebies - hoping it's the cover/bag and some other bits. Drop john.redfern AT bonnersmusic.co.uk a line and chat to Mark or John (same email) and ask about options. Mention me - it may or may not help Bass Direct were also very helpful, in fact it was them that convinced me that the TC was the way for me as I was looking at the Genz Benz stuff originally but it seemed too dry for me. Unfortunatley they couldn't offer the finance deal (my lady has been made redundant so cash is very tight). J
15. I've ordered the RH450, RS210 cab and the RC4 controller all from Bonners - seemed most competitive and also offer buy now pay in 6 months at 0% interest as well as 1 and 2 year finance My rig should arrive at the end of the week
16. I wonder if that was the real Billy................ Hehehehehh!! I believe Mark King also used superglue on his thumb funk point.
17. Nice clip - gotta love a bit of Pino action on a rainy Sunday Saw him with the Who at Glastonbury - total legend but still seems to be one of those under-the-radar types. Kudos to him!
18. Hope all went well The scariest gig I did was agreeing to stand in for MetalWorks bassist (also happens to be Zodiac Mindwarp's plank spanker) before realising I'd have to learn 25-30 tracks...................... in the space of 3.5 days (mainly evenings as I have a day job). Thankfully it was all classic rock/metal with a huge slab of AC/DC. The Black Sabbath/Ozzy and Iron Maiden sets were my fave ps - pics of the "sexy singer" would be great
19. Learnt summink The day is not lost.
20. I was 17. I had been attempting to teach myself guitar when a buddy of mine informed me that they'd just ejected their bassist (who happened to be his cousin) from their covers band - The Burning Heart Was I interested? Nope - I wanted to be a guitarist! But he talked me round so I bought a Marlin sparkly red bass guitar - it had a funny little tail-piece/cut out at the back if I remember....... Anyhooo - I plugged in to the band's H&H rig and it all felt right. I realised that I was a bassist. First gig was 3 months later when I chopped in the Marlin for a Hohner The Jack headless number. We had, by then changed the band name to ESP (Eat, Sleep and Party) as we'd removed the original singer and his guitar playing brother because they wanted to play more 'romantic pop'. Our set-list now included the likes of INXS, Marillion, Simple Minds, Del Shannon, U2, Van Halen - and our first outing was at the Youth Club the keyboard players mum and dad helped run....... it was 1988 I remember it well - my green suit and thin leather tie....... and a faily bad mullet
21. There are some groovy songs in that list and some unexpected gems from the likes of the Damned and Gang of Four. One thing in the lists favour is the fact that it's not all fancy showboating, 2 hands on the fretboard, slap work outs Saying that though - Jerry Was a Racecar Driver is superb I can feel a Basschat Top 50 approaching
22.
We're not? Oh $#!7, I'm a keyboardist fiddling with a bass! Don't tell any of the bands I've been trying out for!
~raises an eyebrow~
23. Gotta love Mr Sheehan (owned an Attitude Limited since June 1992). Not seen the DVD all the way through and I'd have to agree - no pinched hamronics by Billy for an hour or so is a tad odd.
24.
+1...cheers. From now on, I do it my way, or its not going to work. In addition, I make sure they realise a decent bassist who isnt just a guitarist fiddling with bass is a tough musician to find. Ive been totally messed about...no more 'videos' of me playing along...from now on ill learn 2-3 tracks and try out...thats it. No more messing about. Thanks for the advice.
It still strikes me as almost slightly perverse that they wanted to see vids of you.............. I've been asked for some pics and recordings but never vid. Fetish springs to mind " In addition, I make sure they realise a decent bassist who isnt just a guitarist fiddling with bass is a tough musician to find." - very true and well said!
25. Just waiting for delivery of TC Electronic rig which will be replacing my 'Harshke' (as someone once called them ) 4x10 and 1x15 Transporters and Hartke HA2000, SansAmp RBI rig. Using the additional RC4 controller will make my Bass Pod and shortboard mostly redundant as well RH450 amp - 4kg / 8.8 pounds RS210 cab - 21 kg / 46 lbs RC4 Controller - 0.8 kg / 1.6 pounds Total rig weight = a gnats under 26kg which I shall soon be lugging around on the tube and London bus system Ok - so there are lighter, the 15kg rig above will take some beating methinks but I reckon this will suit my needs
