1. I sent a question once. Never got a reply.
2. As a teen I HATED NME, the sh*te music it promoted, and its self proclaimed importance. Since I grew up I don't care, but for me they still promote sh*te music. I was 100% a SOUNDS reader. And then Kerrang after that, before it became asswipe fodder.
3. I use fingers, and I love the slapping thing but that's still a work in progress. As for a pick, they have never entered the equation for me although I see nothing wrong with them. I do sometimes play as if with a pick but without one (if that makes sense??) I read recently that it was called something like 'chucking'??? - don't know if anyone can shed any light on that?
4. Wow, that bass looks totally awesome!!!! I can't imagine what it's worth, or what you are hoping to get for it, but I'm darned sure it's more than I have spare right now. Every time I see a six string I feel tempted to have a go, but my brain screams Nooooooooo, bad idea! having said that I'm positively palpitating at the look of that bass. Out of interest, if you are not keen to print a price in the thread, could you PM me with how much you consider selling for - just to put me out of my misery when i know that I couldn't get that much together ...........
5. Hmmmn .................. I quite fancy a Spector.
6.
If you were to state your location, you might find someone nearby will let you have a go on theirs. I've just scored a Sei Flamboyant headless. I'm near Oxford, if that's any good to you. Jules
I live in Luton and work in London NW9. Thanks for the generous try-out offers you guys! Did you just buy that Sei here a week or two ago?
7. Woahhh!!! It looks a beautiful build but that shape is way to radical for me!
8.
It's the one on the left! The other two are guitars...
Thanks for clarifying that!!!!!
9. Not sure I could handle 6 strings, but it would be nice to see some more pix. DT Rulez!!!!
10. Like it! Interesting how people all go for different kinds of music. I love stuff like that but I really can't get into a band with a bunch of songs eg Coldplay, snow patrol et al. I like instrumental music that's off the beaten path of commerciality best.
11. I was 100% thinking that it would look soooooo wrong, but what the hell - works for me! If anything doesn't quite work it's the way the tuners/bridge would sit at the back on the slant.
12. Not really a verses thread, I don't wish to be competitive about it, but I was wondering what the differences are with Status/Sei/Shuker basses. Here's the background: I like headless basses. I've had my Status for a couple of years now, and I really like it but I don't feel that it's totally my 'ideal' bass. I've tried quite a lot of other basses over the past 8 months or so and I've yet to find anything that I prefer. I still feel that it would be great to find a 'holy grail' bass though, so I was wondering about something similar, yet different (eg Sei and Shuker headless). The problem is that they are very hard to come by from a tryout perspective. So, any thoughts on any of these fine bass manufacturers?? I kind of feel that I'd like something a bit more 'organic' feeling (yeah, I don't know what I mean either!)
13. LOL = laugh out loud! Live in Luton, Work in London NW9
14. I could have done with this a month or two ago! I'd still be tempted if I lived a bit nearer, but I figure that the postage would be a fair bit. Note: LOL at the notes printed above the keys!
15. Looks amazing! I'd like a 5 string like that, possibly darker colour body and with some neck LEDs. Couldn't cope with all those knobs and switches though!?! I'd be interested of a run down as to what they all do ...........
16. Ok, so I've been hanging around on this forum for quite a while now, and one thing that has always surprised me is that some very 'big' names in bass playing seem to get a fairly hefty bashing from some quarters. Two that spring immediately to mind are Victor Wooten and Mark King, and I seen to recall having read negativity on Pastorius and Flea as well. Without wishing to start a feeding frenzy for those that seem to enjoy slating bassists, I thought that it would be good to focus on bassists that everyone loves, those that can do no wrong. So a couple of nominations from me - Two bassists that I have yet to read a bad word on (I could have missed them of course!) are Pino Palladino and John Entwhistle. Anyone else agree (or not!) with that? Any other nominations?
17. Don't like them. I like the look of the old modulus though
18. Well done! I got up to grade 2 piano several decades ago, but that was it.
19. This sounds terrible, but once I bought a secondhand guitar, had it delivered to work, dismantled it and took the bits home over a couple of days, and then announced that I was going to 'make something up out of spare parts that I have lying around". It worked.
20. I quite fancy doing that myself.
21. I'm GASsin for that damn blasted headless SEI flamboyant that I've failed to hook BOTH times that it's been for sale in the past year. DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!!!!!
22. I've been over there a few times and I have to say that I thought that the attitude of the place was fantastic. I'm sure that this was a one-off situation. With the best will in the world everything cannot possibly work perfectly 100% of the time in life. And as someone else said, it's how people react to a perception of poor customer service that defines them.
23. I totally can't cope with single cut basses. They are just disturbing, like seeing your granny naked.
24.
Just for the amount of neck damage they have caused me...
You're a guitar??
