Welcome. Big fan of Geddy Lee. Never even heard Chancellor but I hear a lot of talk about him so I'll have to check him out. Yay for Fender basses. I have a Jazz.

Greetings. I knew a guy who was a hot bass player and he swore by his Aria Pro II.

I bought a bass a few years ago. Don't recall any problems. Paid with credit card and it turned up quickly. So you can't pay/haven't actually bought anything?

I think that with stickers you should either commit 100% to it or not bother. A sticker that will come off easily if you change your mind sounds a bit limp wristed to me .....

I feel such a newb with this sort of thread. I wouldn't have the faintest idea what a Precision or Jazz sound is???

It's a good idea, but a pet hate of mine on forums is links posted with no information as to what they are.

I don't see the problem personally. They are entertaining pieces, people love to hear them, you will most probably improve your chops and you can throw bits into your regular playing. I haven't learned any of that stuff. I'd love to but I'm crap with TAB and I don't have the skills (yet?). If I could play Country music by Stu Hamm or Bach by Berlin then I'll die happy! To me this just harks back to the 'secret' bassists golden rule: Thou shall not showboat, even if it's entertaining and people love it, for thou hath a job to do.

I think that it is the act of a dumb, unintelligent tw*t and not a musician. Personally I think that people who do that should be removed from the Gene pool and dumped, tied, in the swimming pool. Never liked Townsend.

There's a whole load of transcriptions out there on the net. Not that hard to find really. Can't guarantee how good they are though.

I went all over the place trying to find a jazz 5 to try out but couldn't find one anywhere in london or within about 30 miles of Luton. All I know is that it feels perfect to me, it's pretty much the same as my other 5 stringers.

I'd definitely go to my GP. Trouble is that a lot of GPs are crap and not interested. I find generally that you need to go OTT on the discomfort and make out that it's so bad you'll have to commit suicide if they don't do something about it!

This has come up before. I can't seem to sing along and play bass, it is much easier on guitar or keyboards.

Most commonly they die from a broken heart, but sometimes it's a broken wire.

Great looking basses there, although a little too unusually shaped for my conservative tastes! I find it interesting that Basses often seen to cross over into almost being a piece of sculpture or artwork, but guitars rarely do in the same way (there are exceptions obviously).

To be sure of getting the right person you'll have to kill all the neigbours.

I think that a shuker will undoubtedly be an amazing bass, however, for some people there is a bit of magic about the Fender brand that just can't be created elsewhere. I'm a BIG Fender fan, but you need to get the right instrument of course! EDIT: When I was still looking for a Jazz bass recently, I trawled around a lot of forums looking for info, and the general concensus seemed to be that the 09 Fender basses were very good indeed eg much better on quality control than they have sometimes been in the past. and don't forget that with Thomann you can sent it back if you get a turkey.

It's easy enough. Find a resource on the internet that explains everything, and take it slowly. You only need to tweak a bit at a time, and don't force anything!

well as far as I'm concerned the all time low was the one finger synth bands of the 80's. Boy did I hate that stuff. At the moment I hear the odd record that I like, not that I ever listen to music on the radio - I prefer talk sport or 5 live.
