1. totally awesome looking bass! Love the new finish.
2.
When did Milton Keynes become a city?
The same time it nicked a footie team?
3. I would seriously love one of them but the wife would blow several gaskets.
4. I say don't let it leave the flat. She needs to get her own bass if it's getting serious. Next thing she'll think she has legal and bonding timeshare on your kit.
5. Thanks for the input all. I don't really know what I'm after, but I guess I like the idea of a jazz type bass as it's a bit further away from my current Status.
6. Any thoughts on these two skyline basses? I'm not in a position to try out either, but I like the look of them both. There's a JO5 for sale on the forum here, and I've also found a 55-02 for about £150 more. My usual procrastination means that they will probably both get sold before I make any decisions!!
7. Bummer. I was subscribed to MarloweDK. Does this mean that pathetic, lesser-talented musicians like me will get taken down for having done cover versions???
8. Always fancied a mandolin. Maybe one day ..............
9.
55-01 - Sold pending the usual payment malarky!
Darn it!!! I was really keen on the thought of dropping in to try them both. Oh well, at least the sale is good for you.
10.
Sorry about my lame photography but thats probably why I am a bassist rather than a photographer...
I've just been through all your pix, and I have to say that you are the worst photographer I've ever seen! (no offense intended, I guess it's a phone camera!). I'm looking for another bass at the moment, and I really like the look of Laklands, but I've never tried one. I'm off to London tomorrow, so I'm going to see if I can find one to try somewhere (not sure where other than Denmark st???). Might be interested .........
11. Awesome looking bass! If money were no object I'd love one of these.
12. No gecko on the fretboard????
13. Hmmmn, this looks interesting if it's still up for sale, I quite like the thought of a Jazz bass at the moment. I'm just posting so that I can locate the thread a bit easier!
14. I watched quite a few MIJ strats on eBay, and they seemed to mostly go for around £290 to £350. Some shops were selling them for more (up to about £450!) but they didn't seem to shift for that price tag. I bought one myself. Got to view it in a shop first and it was amazing condition and a real beauty. I HAD to have it so I bid £360 for it. Plays like a dream, if they are all this good then they are superb guitars. Comment: Might be worth less with the Kahler actually - many people go for the vintage vibe with a strat, I know that I did.

Too bad! I was going to see about having a look. Oh well, c'est la vie, at least you got what you wanted for it.
16. Tried one of these at my local shop at the weekend. Felt great and plays superbly. They have it for £899 so that shows what I know about pricing! (my earlier comment). Someone should buy this!
17.
This reminds me of way back in the days of usenet when I contributed to alt.music.deep_purple and people would rave on about Bolin and that you really needed to get as copy of Spectrum to hear what he was about. So I did. Still couldn't work out what the fuss was about I'm afraid. Half decent blues player when not drugged to the eyeballs but for jazz-rock fusion type stuff I'd still go for Beck or even Moore any day. Each to their own and all that though...
Yeah, I get where you are coming from, it's all subjective at the end of the day. History does seem to revere Bolin as one of the better players in his day though. Gary Moore did some great stuff with Colloseum II, but he has admitted that he was way out of his comfort zone and winging it!
18. Ahhh, love that stuff. Especially when the late great Tommy Bolin was on guitar.
19. Ho hum, here we go again .............. a perfectly interesting and informative thread and some people choose to drag it down into the gutter. I thought that this was an intriguing question so I posted it at another forum that I go to, three pages so far and no negativity whatsoever.

Hmmmn, never really thought about a jazz bass before, but I have to say that it looks really good! Are those basses any good for slapping etc (I don't know sod all about basses!). Out of interest, where abouts in North London are you? I work at NW9. Why are you selling? Just didn't click with it?
21. Hi. I have your funk bass book! I bought it at a time when I wasn't so into bass playing, I really must dig it out and have a look again as I'm really into that kind of playing now. Oh yes, welcome aboard!
22. I went to the Gallery a few months ago specifically to try a 5 string tobacco sunburst, but it had been sold. Doh, should have rung first, it's not as if the website can be up to date all the time!
23. I quite fancy one of them but I'm not sure you'll get £800 with the current economic climate.
24. Just went to the other thread - sorry to hear about the redundancy. Had that a couple of times myself, but many years ago. Too bad I don't live a bit closer, I'd have liked to try it out. Such a great looking bass.
25. Sounds trivial, but I don't think I'd like the sharp ends sticking out off the front of my bass. I totally love the ease of swapping double ball strings anyway.
