  1. If you keep plenty of mids in your amp tone, a touch of Sub Harmonic will make it sound really good too. Better for standard tuning though I find. Problem I find at home is you switch out the Shape button ( ON setting ) and you get that deep full tone that scoops the mids. It sounds amazing but don’t try it with the band as your sound will disappear! The more mid focused or flat EQ sound of the ABM is where the best sound lays and where in the band you get heard
  2. I find that the drive sounds better when the EQ isn’t too bass heavy I saw an Ashdown demo where they cranked the input gain and drive gain for a filthy sound. VU meter needle was permanently in the red !!
  3. Mine came Monday and used last night at rehearsal I will run mine with Shape button IN ( Flat )and EQ nearly flat ( not as image below )
  4. Best rock music station 🤟
  5. Have you spoken to Ashdown as that doesn’t sound as it should.
  6. Mine is very quiet regarding unwanted noise You sure it’s not the bass pickups adding to the noise ?
  7. Hi Darren .. great to hear from you 🤟
  8. It would be nice to hear from Darren on here just to say hello and that we admire and enjoy his work on PR
  9. The dual fans on the new ABM600 are quiet and acceptable. The RM800 is quieter though so better for home / studio
  10. The RM800 is a great amp but I can hear an improvement in the sound with the ABM The notes have more weight and authority to them. I can understand why people say on larger stages these have the edge over class D Ok they cost a lot more that the RM series so it should have something otherwise I wouldn’t want one !
  11. Very pleased 👍
  12. I love it when he says “ we do that song in our band” etc etc He mentioned Paradise City too this afternoon! Great radio station and he plays some good songs .. makes it even nicer knowing he pops along on here
  13. Driving home listening to my favourite station Planet Rock the DJ Darren ?? mentions interesting fact about the bass line in Living on a Prayer ! He makes reference to bass chat forums and I thought maybe he is a regular on here ? Hi if he is and keep up the great work
  14. Orange Little Bass Thing is whisper quiet in the fan noise department Mine is up for sale if interested
  15. Decided to hang on to my RM800 to use as backup with the new ABM600 So up for sale is my ORANGE Little Bass Thing 500w head instead
  16. There’s a near new nice RM800 EVO II in the for sale section here .. whisper quiet fan 😉
  17. I’m now using the Line 6 G30 system Purchased the Levy pouch to go on strap Very good system albeit plastic battery door etc has been reported as poor, fine if you use a pouch
  18. They are very similar to be fair so it was a tough choice. If money was no object I would keep both !
  19. Decided to buy a new ABM600 EVO IV ( my second one ) last night so my RM800 EVO II is up for sale on here. It’s like new as it was purchased early new this year and comes with the padded Rootmaster gig bag As we all know the RM800 is a great amp but I can’t justify having three amps so it must go to a new home.
  20. Sale Closed Decided to keep it
  21. Avoid the Ampeg PF500 as I found mine under powered compared to other 500w heads. Its a shame you didn’t like the RM as that is a great choice for what you described and you wouldn’t like the Orange Little Bass Thing 500w as that doesn’t have aux in but it does sound bloody amazing !
  22. Just watched on Sky Arts and the BBC Four The Shadows bassist playing with a pick, then The Kinks bassist playing with a pick and Cream Jack Bruce playing with a pick As a convert to playing 99% of the time with a pick it made me wonder if those early rock or pop bassists considered fingers or pick for sound or technique/ speed or both maybe
  23. I found the Nylon picks too soft / warm sounding which is great if you like that sound Liking tortex mostly now
  24. I would look for one of the older Ampeg Combos BA110 There is also the smaller BA108 They really sound nice home amps and my BA110 is loud enough for a small jam without a drummer of course Has aux inputs for jamming along to phone tracks etc And it actually sounds like an Ampeg !
  25. Nice pedal
