Yep I do the same .. pull back the 340hz slider as it improves the sound no end

I use the Line 6 G30 system with a strap pack Levy’s pouch for the transmitter Excellent and for around £130 a really decent setup I did think they were a bit unnecessary until a practice a while back I tripped and pulled my guitar lead out of my pedal board ! That was all the confirmation I needed to stay using wireless Another good think about the G30 is you will never have a battery recharge life failure as the receiver is powered and the transmitter is replaceable AA batteries that you get about 8hrs use per set of batteries. I’m now using Eneloop rechargeable to make it even more convenient. Some of the dongle style are only as good as the sealed battery life span G30 has a terrible battery clip but in the Levy’s pouch it’s a perfect solution and the tone is as good as a decent lead

Thought I would resurrect this old thread as I own and use two ABM210H Pro Neo cabs with my ABM600 Rehearsals ( mostly loud rock ) I use both cabs stacked and due to the design ( diagonal speakers ) they make a tall rig ( probably a 610 cab height ) Are they good, yes I believe they are but you need to get the EQ right to really make them sing. Probably don’t have the very low bass sound of a ported cab as they are sealed but they do have a decent amount of low end and mid punch. 300w rated but could they handle that power it’s hard to tell. Weight and carry is amazing as they are so light. You can carry both cabs together ( one in each hand ) They are a small sized cab ( personally a bit wider would of been perfect ) but they make a neat stack. Im sure you can find high end cabs that would be better but for the money and how they perform I think Ashdown got it right. As an experiment I got an older U.K. Klyston 115 cab to compare them ( ported cab ) and the ABM210H sounded better as was more articulate and better punch. The Klyston I know was a 15” so not a fair comparison but it just sounded flubby in comparison!

Now the ABM EVO IV series has plenty of EQ adjustment The RM series has sufficient and they sound very similar with very minor differences such as Tube drive on the ABM Both are excellent amps

Who's Playing Old, Heavy, Outmoded Gear that No One Wants?
BassAdder60 replied to Count Bassie's topic in Amps and Cabs
My ABM600 was sat on my two ABM210 Pro Neo cabs Tuesday at rehearsals and it was very good However ( might be due to sealed cabs ) ??? I made a playing change … I’ve reverted to finger playing instead of pick as I had lost the bottom end in the band. Playing mostly heavy to light rock I need the fullness and punch But the height of the stacked cabs results in hearing what’s going on well -
I’m sure like most or many of my fellow BassChatters we are chasing that best tone / sound when playing in venues or even rehearsals in various locations. I wonder how many times we have thought 1: My cab / cabs are just not right 2: My amp isn’t for me 3: My bass guitar sucks 4: My strings need changing 5: FX pedals etc etc and so on 6: Fingers or Pick But how about the influences of the room you are playing or rehearsing in ( this includes village halls etc etc ) Has anyone been chasing this tone goal only to discover it’s not the gear it’s the room and it’s surroundings ? I even find playing at home a challenge as vibrations etc happen in the home and you wonder is it my cab !! Be interested in peoples thoughts and experiences

That’s good to hear, I’m happy to stick with them if the difference isn’t much to really notice live. The weight as you say is a huge advantage -

@Lozz196 .. Do you find the ABM210H Pro Neo cabs and ABM600 a good match ? I’m still wondering if larger ported cabs ( naturally heavier ) would sound fuller with more punch ? I keep re- visiting this and come close to buying different cabs weekly !! -
That’s definitely what I’m seeing even 410 cabs seem unpopular now too !
-
Is there really a need for these heavyweight tall cabs these days ? You see them up for sale at bargain prices yet they don’t sell Have they really had their day ? Example a local chap is selling an Ashdown ABM610 cab for £150 !! Im so tempted
-
If you can get it back to Ashdown U.K. and they will sort it quickly and without hassle too
-
Why don’t they mount speakers in a cab angled up ?? I know some do this but for bass it makes more sense to fire upwards slightly and not straight out ?
-
A bit like that horrible looking Ashdown 310 vertical cab lol 😂 Seriously though a good 310 or 312 vertical cab rated at say 600-800w minimum @ 4 ohms but wide enough for most amp heads would be a good one cab solution

We often discuss our favourite bass cabs and how good they sound especially seeking a good rig for live gigs. But how much of the success is due to us hearing the sound purely by height of the speakers / stack ? I recall using my Ampeg 610 cab for all my live shows and the one thing I always felt was I can hear myself always. In that quest I went through various 115 / 210 or just 410 options only to find that the higher cab was the better sounding. Today I use two Ashdown Pro Neo 210 cabs stacked and they are probably as high as my old 610 cab, result is I can hear the rig very well. When I look at some other cab designs such as Ashdown ABM compacts they are wider than taller so a stack isn’t as high. I do think a vertical designed cab ( still wide enough for a standard amp head ) has a lot of advantages as long as stacking doesn’t cause stability issues or a single cab is high enough. Lifting cabs off the deck is the other option of course or amp stands I guess when we try out cabs in shops we often end up ( well I do ) sitting in front of it thinking yep it sounds great where a better test is stand up and play as if in a live setting ( albeit quieter for test purposes etc ) Looking at designs like Barefaced Audio they seem to follow this tall design

Having been a second guitarist in a rock band I found that role somewhat unnecessary and was mostly there for the lead guitarist to show off and solo. When I swopped back to bass ( had been a bassist at the start in an originals rock band ) and joined a band I made sure it was made up of a trio of musicians Drums, Bass and Guitar. Now my role is crucial as it is in many power trios and I love it as we all have a major contribution to the final band sound. Will the audience notice ? I guess not as they will be focusing on the singer and the guitar solos but I will be happy to be part of the finished product.

Best options for arranging courier on buyer's end?
BassAdder60 replied to AinsleyWalker's topic in Accessories and Misc
I think you can book most couriers such as DPD etc or use Parcel2Go and just put collection address as the place you’ve purchased it from and delivery to yourself The only danger is you need to know the seller will be in to give the parcel to courier You need weight and dimensions too and send the seller a label via email It can be done -
Filling out the sound with no rhythm guitar
BassAdder60 replied to BillyBass's topic in General Discussion
Good point .. he needs a full lead sound with some delay and a little boost in volume Sounds counter intuitive but he fills out the sound too and maybe put him through the PA as well ? -
Filling out the sound with no rhythm guitar
BassAdder60 replied to BillyBass's topic in General Discussion
Having a sympathetic guitarist helps Everyone should be contributing to the final band sound. It’s not a platform for a lead guitarist to widdle over because he can !! A band is a collective of sounds and learning how you all sound together is often as important to playing the songs right. Ive gigged Sandman many times with one guitarist playing the lead intro, trust me it can be done but you need a full punchy bass tone and not a scooped lost in the mix kind of tone -
Filling out the sound with no rhythm guitar
BassAdder60 replied to BillyBass's topic in General Discussion
I’m in a rock band as a power trio musically with female vocals Adding something like the TC Spark Booster pedal helps as mentioned but … My preferred method is make sure you are clearly present playing normally if necessary maybe play a bit louder than normal. When the guitarist plays a solo you should play as normal and carry the rhythm with the drums and with decent gear be a full sound. Standing close to your amp speaker may also give you false levels of sound. Step away and you find you are definitely there. Recording ( phone etc ) will not pick up the bass that well anyway. Good luck -

Has anyone compared the ported compact Ashdown cabs with the sealed Pro Neo cabs ? Naturally they are heavier and slightly wider I think but what about sound
