If your cab has a top mounted handle beware the RM800 feet are spaced closely together where as the RM500 are wider apart, minor detail but a hassle for some cabs

I had a meeting with the founder of the band and we both agreed it’s on a path to failure and certainly not giving us the band fun we wanted The guitarist needs to be honest with himself and the band that if you haven’t got time to be in a band then don’t be in a band !! A slow part of the band drags it backwards and I’m sure this has been the demise of many a band

The point is I like rehearsing and band practice as it makes the band tighter and you get to know your band buddies better My current band feels like a group of strangers !! I get a buzz out of playing as a band and I’m missing that in this slow band

Band progress is often something that can lead to frustration and upset My current band formed during lockdown and since we have been allowed to meet for real we have had only three practices and have about 15 covers sorted with 15 more to make our setlist The speed of progress has been delayed by lack of practices/ rehearsals and where I’m more enjoying weekly or fortnightly practices until the band gets tight we are lucky if we get together once per month. Half the band have jobs that make it difficult to plan dates for rehearsals and that leaves me waiting around of course For this reason I’ve started a second band to fulfil my appetite for playing etc Interested in what you guys think, is a band really going to make progress if only meeting once a month ? We are a mature bunch playing rock covers In the past I would only focus on one band but today seems quite common to have multiple projects running.

Get a dolly off EBay for about £15 and save screwing into your cab No need to worry about rattles coming from your castors when playing Plus you can use it for moving other things around too ! Get a bungee strap to keep it in place

I don’t think the horn adds too much apart from very high treble and hiss If you are a slap bass player your would benefit but if not I wouldn’t say it’s needed

I like them for convenience in weight and size but do wish they were a little larger with more depth to the sound but it’s a trade off in cabinet size compared to weight I think for me the ABM standard Compact cabs ( ported ) would of been better but it’s hard to tell

Could you see if PMT Cambridge have them in stock ( or get one in ) and try it ?

I tried one ( the early Minimax ) and you’re right it sounds like air conditioning lol Sent it back ASAP Apart from that it’s ok Far better amps out there Ashdown, Orange etc etc ( I have both )

I used mine at rehearsals in a large hall so I could play fairly loud For a small 210 cab ( about the size of a 12” guitar 112 cab ) they perform well but I think for gigging you will need both cabs ( I use two ) For practice in a medium or small room one cab does just fine ( we play 90’s rock to modern rock and a bit of R & B ) Previously I had the Ampeg PF115LF cab which was heavy but very deep sounding and felt it could take more of a pounding ! I decided like most that lighter is the way forward I would describe the sound as punchy and low to high mids focused ( I turn the horn off ) Probably not the cab for Reggae bass etc ) but everything else I think they are fine I play fingers ( PBass ) and Pick Annoying fact is the cab top handle means I have to put a rubber mat on the top so my RM800 doesn’t slip into the handle recess. I believe the RM500 has feet spaced further apart as does my Orange Little Bass Thing head. For the money they seem a good cab

I’m sure you will love it My LBT is a great amp and sounds better and better every time I play it Funny thing is I play mostly rock but not a great lover of too much drive in my tone. Clean to a touch of grit is my thing but none of this overdriven Bass sound Enjoy the new amp 👍

I’m liking my Orange Little Bass Thing

Look at the Orange Little Bass Thing Simple but great sounding 500w head and very loud too

I use the ABM210H Pro Neo cabs and one is loud enough with the Orange LBT for small / medium gigs with a loud band. I have two cabs both identical for larger gigs and allowing the full rating of the amp etc As Lozz has said they are a small 210 cab and single handed carry.

The volume and compressor seem to work together and as mentioned they are notched in 1/2 steps ie vol 1, 1.5, 2, etc etc The compressor works as a very good compressor and immediately adds a little volume boost and it seems if you crank the compressor to max you add a tiny bit of grit to the signal. You can use it as an always on compressor or turn it on via a footswitch. You could I guess use it as a boost but I’m not sure it was designed as that. The notched volume can or could result in volume levels that are too high or too low as you can’t get less that 0.5 increase / decrease … however you can back off the compressor if the volume is too much or turn your bass volume down a little. Just purchased the Pedal Baby Bag which also fits the LBT as a carry gig bag .. thank you Orange for advising me of that 👍

You could also daisy chain two 8 ohm cabs and connect into one of the amp connectors this would equal a 4ohm total speaker load

I too can praise the RM800 .. I have the current model which has very little difference to the first version, headphone out mainly. I would say even the Original 500 head would be a good option too I never use the drive or subharmonic feature on the RM800 so I use it as a simple amp ( but great sounding ) with good EQ. You can’t go wrong with the Ashdown range as long as you get 500w upwards for playing gigs etc The RM800 is a very loud amp and can be quiet for home use too

The Treble, mids and bass are cut and boost and the other EQ is mid frequency selection increase / decrease HZ No input gain control only -6db pad for active basses
